I recently noticed that my hair has stopped growing along the back of my head. I had my hair cut into layers, so this only makes it more obvious. I have a couple patches, one behind my left ear, and one in the center of my head that are several inches shorter than the rest of my hair.

What makes it even worse is that the rest of my hair is below my arm pits. It looks terrible. 

What can I do to correct this? I've been avoiding putting heat on it for about three weeks now. I concocted a regimen of braiding my hair into a french braid, letting it stay that way for a week, combing it out, putting some moisturizer in it, and putting it make in the braid.

Will it even grow back? I'm getting really worried.  Thank you for your help.
