I'm so happy!  My lessons went really well.  I'm always worried that I'll get yelled at for whatever (childhood stuff) and at the same time I have a strange fear of becoming really good and then I'll be asked to perform when I'm not ready.

When I was a kid, I had some piano lessons and after my teacher hurt her back I continued to teach myself songs.  Every year for 5 years we had the whole family (on my mom's side) over for Christmas celebration.  I was always asked to play for everybody.  Playing piano was a very private and personal thing for me at that time.  I felt I was expressing my soul when I played and felt way too vulnerable to play w/o preperation.  Obviously I'm still wrestling w/that.

However, today I got patted on the back and that felt really good.

Well, my parents are in town (not staying in my house this year) and so far I'm still sane.  I hope to stay that way.

I'm still using the Ouidad and liking the results.  I can't seem to get a consistent wave result.  I've decided at the moment that I prefer the result if I comb my conditioner through before rinsing.

I registered for the parks & rec bellydancing classes today, I hope all this dancing will help me slim down.

Learned from the dermatologist that:
Hair grows for 1000 days, then falls out
After it falls out the root rests for 100 days and then grows a new hair.
The only vitamin that may help hair is Biotin, which helps in keratin formation.
You can't make your hair grow faster.
We are geneticallly destined to grow hair to a certain length.
Your type of hair doesn't make hair fragile-using heat and chemicals on the hair does.
There is nothing you can do to "fix" damaged hair.  So, don't waste $$ on treatments that say otherwise!

Currently still sane.

I finally took a picture with my hairpin from Greek_Lady, and I can't download the picture yet.  We got a new printer/copier/scanner and ony had one port available.  Hubby's gonna figure it out to get the pics ready.  Argh.

Still no rain-more than 90 days now.  It sucks.

Hair looked really good today, not that anyone but me noticed!

Oh my, Sakina!  I hope it rains there soon.  Nighttime showers help me sleep well.  I wish I could send you some rain from IL.  It's hard to walk around campus when it's raining/sleeting.

On a hair note, your color and wave look incredibly beautiful.  For more wave on the top portion of your hair, perhaps you could try the "plopping" method described on Longhair loom?  Since my hair is still too short to sock curl, I use that method.

Edit:  Here's the link to the method. http://www.network54.com/Forum/242462/message/1083892723/Twist+damp+sections%2C+...

Pan, thanks!  I happen to have a hood dryer and some clips so I think I'll give plopping a try.  I couldn't see some of the pictures on the link you sent, so I don't know how it turned out.  It is a PIA that my waves don't naturally start at the top and I can't scrunch them small enough to make them with my hands.
Any chance you'd post a pic of your plopped hair for me??

Wish me luck!!!

I'm so enjoying wearing my hair wavy.  I finally feel like there's nothing wrong with my hair, that its just the way it was meant to be.  I like to think about all of the wonderful paintings by the masters that feature wavy haired beauties.

It was really cold here today (OK, OK, cold for Arizona) and I wore my hair down w/a thin plastic headband to keep my hair out of my face.  It felt really good on my shoulders when I took my sweater off.  Grin

I'm currently using the Ouidad Quench shampoo and conditioner and Jessicurl's rockin' ringlets and confident coils.  I bought gallon sized bottles of RR & CC so I better get to using them up!!!

My baby Jupiter is laying on the desk next to me with his paw on my arm.  He's so cute, and smells so yummy I could just eat him up!

Here's that pic I was talking about previously...
...
Thanks again, Greek_Lady I really love this pin.  I wish the pic was a bit sharper to do its beauty justice!!

Thanks, 13bodies!

Today I tried "plopping".  Where on earth did that name come from for that technique?  It was for the most part successful, but I need longer duckbill pins.  My hair was also very wet so I had to use the hood dryer before going outside.  I airdried it as long as I could so it was a relatively short amount of time under the dryer on low setting.

Only 3 more days of this edition of my journal.  Funny, I started my journal Jan 23, 2005, two days before my 35th birthday and there are 35 pages in this journal.  It takes so long to load I'm following Anais' and Galadriel's lead and starting a new journal for the next year.

Ariel I wanted to tell you that I tried out -at last- one of the products you sent me, the Awe Inspiraling spray. I loved it!!!! I must try the other ones too! Soon!
I have been meaning to tell you.
And I came in here to see your awesome hair and waves!! I am so glad you like the fork, really! And as always you have found a creative way to wear it! I would have worn it in a bun, but like the way you wear it its so much more fun and less austere!
I love the final result but mostly your hair look awesome. I can't tell the layers, did you really have them cut into the hair?

Last entry:

Greek_Lady!  I'm so glad you're liking your intro to Jessicurl.

Aye, it is true I had layers cut in.  She did a very good job.  As soon as I get a good pic of my hair "plopped" I'll post it in my new journal.  I think you'll see the layers more clearly then.

To all who have participated in my first year at LongLocks,

THANK YOU

and stay tuned to read year 2, The Wave~what a lovely way to be...
