Used the Honey Beer and Egg shampoo bar last night and it worked great!  My hair is soft and full.  I was a bit afraid of the egg, since my hair doesn't like protein, but it's a hit.

Added a hibiscus/rosehip teabag to the herbal rinse, since I bought a tin of them and they taste awful  Lips Sealed  They work ok in my hair, though.

The front of my hair looks really good today which I mention only because to my recollection it's the first time it's looked good since 1988.  The back looks kind of crappy but hey, I don't have to look at it. Wink

After I washed my hair last night I left it down to dry a bit and Rumpole went crazy, wallowing all over it.  He really misses me wearing my hair down all the time.  It nice to be appreciated so overtly, even though I do have to comb his fur out of my hair afterward.  Cheesy

Cleaned out the shower yesterday.  I got rid of 2 half-bottles of conditioner, 2 bottles of shower gel, a bottle of lotion (not sure why that was there), a bar of non-Ida soap, and my old (plastic with seams) shower comb.  Whew!  The shower feels so roomy now.  I kept one bottle of conditioner and one of shampoo, for guests.  Then I cleaned out my storage closet and found 3 bottles of conditioner, 2 of shampoo (all new), a tub of hair mask, a tube of anti-frizz cream, a bottle of smoothing hair milk, a bottle of hair gloss, 6 hair claws and 2 barrettes (and a partridge in a....well, you know)  I took the closet items to work and they have all found new homes.  I need more room since I have a big Mountain Rose Herbs order coming soon.  (on a non-hair related note--they have chicory!  After fruitless searching in 5 cities in 3 states for chicory I can finally have my chicory/coffee again!)

This is the second day in a row my hair is misbehaving.  It's been all stringy and won't go up without a severe battle.  It made me late to work today  Angry .  I wondered if it was the fault of the honey, beer, and egg shampoo but then I remembered it's getting time for Aunt Flo to come around, so it's probably hormones.  That would also explain why I almost had a nervous breakdown last night when I found a hole in my sock  Wink

Forgot to turn on the alarm last night, but luckily my internal alarm went off and I was up in time.  My emergency back-up fur-covered alarm clocks who usually start walking on me or licking my eyelids or purring in my ear or bouncing on the pillow an hour before I'm supposed to get up instead sat on the end of the bed with their paws tucked in with a "Why, we would never bother you while you're sleeping" aura of innocence around them.  If they had thumbs I'd swear they turned the clock off themselves.

I added lavender and lemon eo to my aloe/rosemary mix.  I like the smell better and it seems to be helping with the worst of the scalp greasies.  My flaking is also less since I started "scritching" with the horn comb.  Hopefully the scritching will increase my growth as well, because I want waist-length hair.  By tomorrow.  Grin

My hair is behaving today; amazing.  Used the HB&E shampoo bar again and it seems to be working.  I'm giving my mom a piece for her to try.  She has short hair, and I"ve heard that it works for short hair.  Poor Mom; I keep interfering with her haircare.   I'm trying to talk her into doing a weekly vinegar rinse to clarify.  Her hair's really quite healthy, but it doesn't hurt to pamper it a bit.  She doesn't peruse the boards and thinks vinegar on the hair is weird.  8)  When I told her I oil my ends, she wondered if I was turning into a salad.  Grin  I suppose it does sound a little weird if you aren't used to it.  Before I came here I never would have put aloe vera, catnip, or oil on my hair; I'd have thought it was pretty strange myself!

(clears throat and sings)

(off-key)

(but it's ok, 'cause this is text only)

(thank goodness)

Tea for two
And two for tea
Two hairsticks with tiny
Teapots for me....

My Cherry Tea LL sticks are here!  I've always loved the teapot findings, but they were never in one of "my" colors (meaning red).  They're much prettier in person than in the pic, but aren't they always?   Kiss

I also got my comb from Ric Carpenter.  It was a present from my mom and she ordered the bubinga wood comb.  I love it!  It just glides through my hair.  I like the fact that the inner teeth aren't polished; my hair is ultra oily and that seems to help distribute it better.  The teeth don't pull or tug at my hair and I"ve found no snags.  I may have to order a small comb for travel.  Wink  Sometimes I wonder if my hair has grown into my brain and is forcing me to buy all sorts of hairtoys.  If that's the case I'm very upset--that's wasted length I could use on the outside of my head, thanks very much.  8)

Well, Aunt Flo is here with a vengence and my hair is still lank and slippery.  Any hormonal changes should be gone by now.  I'm wondering if the honeybeerandegg is overconditioning my hair--my hair looked just like this the time I tried CO.  I'll use a different bar on Tuesday, then try the HB&E again Thursday.

*****THEY'RE COMING*****

_____________________________________________

Bikerbraid, I'd love to post pics, but I can't.  I don't have a digital camera and the only internet access I have is at work where it's strictly forbidden to upload (or download) anything.  (or use the internet for personal purposes  Roll Eyes )  As soon as I visit a relative with camera and access, I'll try!

My Mountain Rose Herbs order came in yesterday.  My jojoba oil and black walnut powder are out of stock  Angry, but I did get my grapeseed oil.  It seems to be quite absorbable and I think it'll make a good oil for cleaning my face, plus it's a cool shade of green.  Got the basil, lemongrass, and sandalwood eo (sandalwood was $24.00, and I didn't even get the real sandalwood, but the Australian kind!); a pound of rosemary, a pound and a half of chicory (to share with my brother), and a big bag of organic catnip (the tiny evil ones and I'll share it).

Last night I mixed lavender, basil, lemon, rosemary, lemongrass and sandalwood eo in my aloe mixture and massaged it on my scalp. (like Sakina's recipe, but her recipe calls for jojoba oil and I don't oil my scalp unless it's wash day.)  I think I put a bit too much basil in it, but it smelled nice and my scalp felt decidedly less oily afterwards.  I put it on shortly before bedtime and this morning my pillow smelled like it  Smiley but  the scent has faded from my hair.

Tonight I"ll use the Rosemary Lavender Aloe bar again and see if my hair is less lank.  Or rank.  Or *blank*.

Agatha P. isn't feeling well.  She's eating well and maintaining her weight , but Sunday she was very clingy which isn't like her.  Yesterday it was chilly so I put her  in the cat suite and this morning when I tried to pick her up to put her back out she hid under the bed.  True, her fluffy grey tail was sticking out so it wasn't the best job of hiding I've ever seen but it's the thought that counts.   If hardcore outdoor kitty doesn't want to go out something's wrong.  So I worry.  Embarrassed

Sorry you're worried about Agatha.  Perhaps she decided to mend her hardcore ways during her recovery indoors.  Did she spend a lot of time with you then?  Maybe she likes you better than being outside.  Whatever it is, I hope she'll be OK.

Well, Agatha P. is still eating well and she's bouncing all around the room.  Big faker.  I bet when it warms up she'll drop me like a bad habit and demand to go back out.  Roll Eyes  Fluffy weasel cat.  8)

Used the Rosemary Lavender Aloe bar again and my hair is much better.  If Mom likes the honeybeer&egg I'll give the rest to her; if not, I"ll use it for a body bar.  It cleans really well, it just overconditions the living daylights out of my hair.

Didn't have time to do my usual herbal rinse last pm, so I just put a couple of hibiscus teabags in hot water from the tap.  My hair looks a lot lighter today, but no-one else has noticed; it's probably just my imagination.

My crazy cat lady action figure came in!

http://www.mcphee.com/bigindex/current/11377.html

I hung her up in my office.  Everyone says she'd look like me if her hair was dark.  (and if she was fatter, but they're too polite to mention that Wink )  I did take the test and yes, I am offically crazy.  I've only got 3.5 cats though, so I'm not too bad yet, I hope.  At least I"m not hoarding.

Also from the Land of Mcphee I got some sushi pencil toppers, and I"m gonna make hairsticks this weekend Cheesy

http://www.mcphee.com/bigindex/current/11490.html

It's nice to have plans.  Grin

***********THEY'RE COMING!!**************
_______________________________________

(Rant ahead, with a healthy dose of self-pity.  You have been warned.)

Am sick, sick, sick of my hair today.  It's too straight, too brown, too grey, too slick, too oily, just too much.  Bleh.  I'm going to restrain myself this time though.  Usually I'd color my hair or hack off a few inches with my kitchen shears. but I"m not going to do that today.  Maybe I'll just cover it with a scarf until I forget how BROWN, STRAIGHT, GREY AND BORING it is.  Sigh.  Maybe I could pretend like it's made of chocolate.  I'd like the color then.  I'm sick of braids and sick of updos.  I"m not sick of hairsticks though (my precioussss.....es).

Now, Bogie is a grey tabby; he has grey and black and brown hair and he works it well.  I'm jealous.  Smiley  HIS hair (fur) is also really soft and he cleans it with water only---awfully short terminal length, though.  Cheesy

I'll get over this.  I always do.  This time, however, I'll make it to the other side without damage.

Speaking of damage, I was in Big Lots the other day and bought some Scunci bar-rettes.  They're a short, slightly curved bar with a small claw clip on either end.  You wrap your hair around the bar and clip it in place.  They looked interesting so I bought a couple.  I put them in, it looked ok.  Then I tried to take them out......AAARRRGGGHHH!!!  They tangled in my hair and it took a good 20 minutes to get the bloody things free .  For a dark minute I was afraid I'd have to get the scissors.  Ever since I've been having tangles on the sides of my hair where the stupid bar things were.  Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry

Hairwash night.  I need to make cold cream too.  I'm also sick of hairwashing AND cold cream.

I think I need a vacation.  8)

**************THEY'RE COMING!!!***************
____________________________________________

Watched "Killer Klowns from Outer Space" last night.  For those of you with good taste, it's about killer clowns who encase people in pink cotton candy cocoons and suck out their blood with crazy straws.  It's more fun than it sounds.  Anyway, this morning when I was heading off for work I noticed a piece of pink cottony stuff stuck in my windshield wipers!!!  AAHHH!  THE CLOWNS!! THE CLOWNS ARE...oh wait, it's just a piece of insulation.  Cheesy

I put Agatha P. out and she pouted around the porch and wouldn't eat so I carried her back upstairs and she did the "No!  Put me down horrible naked pink biped thing!" full-body spasm.  I shut her back up in the kitty suite and she's not coming out until she obtains a tiny kitty pardon from the govenor or spells "Let Me Out" with her kibble.

I feel better because my brother is visiting today!  That's not the really good part--he's interviewing for 2 jobs and is definately getting one of them.  That's not the really, really good part---either job will bring him and his family to within 3 hours of my house!!!  YAY!!  I haven't seen my nephew or SIL since Christmas and I haven't seen my brother since Feb. which doesn't really count since it was a funeral.

Rosemary Lavender Aloe is working better since I let it dry out.  It lathers more and it's not sticky on my hair.  Hair feels good today. (we won't mention the boring straight brown-greyness, although someone at work told me today that I was much too young to have so much grey.  I guess it's a compliment.  My mom did the same thing at my age so it's her fault.  On the other hand Mom is 60 and still has wonderfully thick hair.  If she didn't pass that gene on to me I'm gonna be ticked.)

Wearing a plain bun today.  I found if I don't twist my hair too tightly the bun isn't as painful and it stays together as well.  I'm wearing a pair of Blondiesturn hairsticks today for the first time and they've held till noon.  They're crescent-shaped and carved out of cocobolo wood and they're quite lovely.  No sparkles though.  Grin

I rubbed some aloe/jojoba mixture on my hair where it's been tangling from the evil bar-rettes and it decreased the tangling without making my hair too oily.  I love aloe.

Thanks for the hug, Bikerbraid.  I really needed one yesterday.  Smiley

***************THEY'RE HERE!!****************
____________________________________________

My imps have arrived!  The imps are here, the imps are here, the imps are here  Smiley Wink Cheesy Grin  My BPAL imps have finally arrived!!!!!!!   ( http://www.blackphoenixalchemylab.com/welcome.html )  I'm wearing Zombi now.  I smell like a grave.

This is so cool.

Used my nettle shampoo bar last night and my hair seems to have done very well.  I didn't do my weekly ACV rinse since I wanted to see how the Nettle would work.  Hair's soft and doesn't look limp.  Someone even told me my hair looks gorgeous today. Cheesy  I'm wearing it half-up (by request.  I usually don't wear it down because it tangles and it's HOT.)  I'm wearing my Cherry Tea LL hairsticks (such cute little teapots!  I just love them. )  I used about a third of my hair to make a little bun on the top of my head.  It stayed all day and didn't hurt a bit.

My brother is 15 months younger than I and he has no grey hair at all.  Grrrr.

Watched "Shrek 2" this weekend.  I want the Queen's snood and the Fairy Godmother's bouffant.  Not at the same time though.  Smiley  My grey temple streaks would look killer with FG's hairstyle.

I didn't use my aloe/eo mix Friday to massage my scalp and my hair was a lot oilier Saturday, so much so I had to wear a bandanna when I went out.  I suppose that means it's working.  8)  I took a bit of the aloe/water/witch hazel mixture and added one drop of tea tree oil and used it last night instead of the over the counter salicylic acid acne moisturizer I usually use.  I'm going to try this for a week or two and see if it works.  I can mix a bit of asa into it, or the Garden of Wisdom http://gardenofwisdom.com/
has salicylic acid powder.  (I haven't ordered from them before but they were recommended on one of the other long hair boards.)   Asa is acetylsalicylic acid which is much easier on the stomach that salicylic acid (imagine!).  I don't know if it's better on the skin or not.  Salicylic acid is oil soluble and actually exfoliates inside the pores.  (Garden of Wisdom also has broccoli seed oil, amla oil and herbs, emu oil, red palm oil....bunches of things I've been wanting to try.  (and things I've never considered before, like ACV powder.  Wouldn't that be great for travel?)  I have, however, enough stuff to last me months and months and I really can't justify anything like this right now.Sad)

Wearing my Spiralstix today--can't remember the name but the stick is purple and they have gorgeous turquoise-colored crystals on top.  Jewels something I think; all of the pamphlets are at home so I can't check.  Anyway, they go wonderfully with this outfit and this outfit only.   I have 2 pairs of LL hairsticks that go perfectly with one shirt and one shirt only.  Roll Eyes  (I wear both pairs at the same time.  It looks like I have a little crown around my bun.)  I've been told my late grandma would do this--buy an outfit and spend 3x as much on accessories.  It's genetic, I can't help myself!  Grin

I don't really like orange.  I only own 2 shirts that are orange and one is more of a red than orange and the other just has a couple of orange flowers on it.  So why oh why do I love all of the LL sticks in orange?  I own 3 pairs that are orange and thank heavens someone reserved the Foiled Fire sticks or I might have bought them too and I don't have anything that really goes with them except for brown and if I wear too much brown I look like a big old clod of dirt.  Well, a big old clod of dirt with sparkly orange hairsticks on top.

My hair was very tangly last night after wearing it down yesterday.  Since it wasn't hairwash night I didn't want to use too much oil so I used my aloe/jojoba hair gloss mixture and it worked really well.  It smoothed out a lot of the tangles but didn't over-oil my length.   I'm still using the aloe/tea tree to moisturize my face in the pm.  It seems to be working ok, but the acid test will be in a couple of weeks when the PMS kicks in.

Nettle shampoo bar and ACV rinse last night.  Hair's so soft today!  It's behaving, too, amazingly enough.

Must remember that I have to use an elastic to secure my ponytail to make a bun.  I didn't yesterday and the darn thing fell out 3 times.  I used an elastic today and it's held just fine.

I've been using oil only to clean my face for the past 2 months or so, using a salicylic acid acne wash/scrub as a adjunct depending on my cycle Tongue.  Lately it's been drying my skin out, especially right after my period, so last night I used the Chagrin Valley Shea Rose Clay soap and it worked very nicely.  I used my liquid cold cream to remove my makeup (it's the best thing I've ever found--gets every speck of makeup off my face) and the soap afterwards to remove the oil.  Yesterday I had flaking on my nose and cheeks, but none today.  I'm still using the aloe/tea tree oil for a pm moisturizer without ill effects and it seems to work at least as well as the salicylic acid moisturizer I used before.

I must have balanced my bun wrong yesterday; by 6pm my scalp just ached.  I wore 2 buns today and put my tri-colored rose pic through them both, but my scalps still a bit tender.  I'll probably wear a french braid tomorrow and give it a rest.
