Cry  Cry  Cry  Cry

omg....too sad!!!

I know first hand how hard it is to lose someone who's been part of your family for that long. Words just can't do justice to how much that sucks. I'm so sorry for you, hon.

Thank you for the kind words, everyone.  It does help knowing that people understand what I'm going through and don't think I'm an idiot for getting upset about a cat.

Agatha is at the parents' house, because they have heard her.  They just haven't seen the little weasel.   8)  She'll come out when she's good and ready, the same as she did with me.

It's difficult to change one's perspective on something.  My entire life I have known that my hair is straight, oily, and brown.  Even after I started hanging around the boards and learned how to take proper care of it, I selected my routines based on having straight, oily, brown hair.  I figured the waves and the reddish color and the dry floaty canopy were from damage and it took me nearly an entire year to realize that they weren't.

Now I have to learn how to moisturize dry hair.  I've never even considered this, any more than I'd consider wearing a bikini or running a triathalon.  It's just completely alien to my every day experience.  I'm working on it, but a major perception shift doesn't happen overnight with me.

Still using the spritz and it works very well.  This weekend, between crying jags, I discovered that my hair loves coconut oil.  I've tried putting a dab of aloe gel in my canopy when wet, but I'm getting mixed results.  So far the spritz is working best.

The Ficcare Maximus won't hold my hair!  I tried it in a french twist today and before I even got downstars the darn thing started to slip out.  I replaced it with a Ficcare beak and it held fine, though I did redo my hair as a bun later.  I've put my silver one up for swap over on the LHC and the rest of them will likely follow suit.

Mom said that Agatha's food was gone this morning so she's deigning to eat now.  With a little luck, wee tiny Miss Stubborn will emerge before the end of next week.  Cats.  They're endlessly and oh-so-grudgingly adaptable.

Still trying to moisturize the canopy without overconditioning the rest of my hair.  I didn't make it today; my hair's all too greasy.  Oh well.  Practice makes perfect.

I bought a La-Tee-Da effusion fragrance lamp.  The fuel is scented alcohol and the wick is a fat piece of braided cotton fastened to a porous stone.  You put the alcohol in the lamp and put in the wick.  Let it stand for 20 minutes to absorb the fuel, then light the stone.  Let burn for 5 minutes and blow out the flame.  The heat in the stone releases the fragrance.

It works very, very well.  Really the best scent diffuser I've tried yet, and I've tried lots.  The fuel samples I received were disappointing, but I've been spoiled by BPAL.  I tried Rue Royale, which is supposed to smell like woods and spices and really just smells vaguely sweet, and added an imp of Queen of Sheba (a bounty of golden honeyed almonds and a whisper of African and Middle Eastern spices.) which made it much better.

They sell recipes for making the scented alcohol fuel on eBay for $3.99, but I found 2 versions over on the BPAL forums and will put them here for everyone:

This one was free on the internet:

16 FL OZ. ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL 91% VOL. (Do not use "ethyl" or any other type of alcohol. 91% alcohol can be found right next to the rubbing alcohol.
0.3 OZ. OF ESSENTIAL OIL OR FRAGRANCE OIL (8.86 ml) (about 1/2 of a 1 fl oz. bottle)

Mix well.  Use as directed in your lamp.

and this one was $3.99; the buyer posted it on the forum for everyone to use:

16 FL OZ. ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL 91% VOL (one dollar a bottle at my Wal-Mart)
1/4 fluid ounce OF ESSENTIAL OIL (this is a little expensive)
1/8 fluid ounce of WATER ( Use distilled - not out of faucet )

Pour in 1/4 fluid ounce of Essential Oil, and 1/8 fluid ounce of distilled water; in other words, water is ˝ of the amount of total essential oil you just added…
Pour the essential oil & water directly into the alcohol bottle, and place lid back on bottle and shake to mix. It is now ready to store, use, or give as a gift.
Remember to keep a notepad with what you did and the results, so you won't be duplicating the same results when trying to vary the degree of oil/water used for the scent concentration for your mixture.

I'm going to use the alcohol and oil one.  I also suspect that I might not need nearly 5 ml of BPAL to adequately fragrance everything.  I'll see.

Joined the Flower Swap at Crochetville.com.  I have to make 15 flowers for 3 people by April.  I love making flowers.  This should be fun.

I hope my recipients aren't allergic to cat hair.   8)

French braid today.  It has literally been years since I wore one.  I fastened it off with a red and white striped bunjii, and put a fakkare on to decorate the top (silver with 3 big heart-shaped "jewels" in red, clear, and pink).

We have a confirmed Agatha sighting!!!  Mom was going upstairs when Agatha came out of Grandma's room and streaked down the stairs.  It's like seeing Bigfoot.  I'm considering alerting the Weekly World News.

Speaking of the Ag, I cleaned out the Kitty Suite last night.   Embarrassed  It made me sad.  Then the boys, especially Gorey, kept bugging me and drove me crazy.   Angry I"m inside cleaning up old hairballs and cat food cans and becoming a bit teary-eyed about it, and they're out in the hall going, "Hey, what ya doing?  That other cat's gone?  Where'd she go?  Can we come in?  How about now?  Now?  Maybe now?  Hello!  Can you hear me?  Can I come in now?"  AAARRRGGGHHH!!!!  Why anyone would want their cats to talk is beyond me.   ???

Gorey is having skin problems.  I think he's allergic to fleas.  His whole back is broken out in crusty sores and he's pulled the fur out in a couple of big patches.  Sigh.  Off to the vet.   Tongue

Agatha died last Friday night.  It was 6 days after the vet confirmed she had cancer and slightly a year since she had surgery for the mass on her chest.   She was my cat for 3 years and I loved her.   Embarrassed

Oh, 13bodies.  I'm so sorry.  If there's anything I can do-if you want to talk PM me and maybe we can set something up.
A year ago my Magus passed and I was devestated.  For me it helped to talk about him, so I'm here if needed.

I'm doing a little better about losing Agatha, but I'm still not sleeping well.  I also tend to get all teary when I think about her, and get all guilty when I think about her dying far away from me, all PO'd about being abandoned; THEN I feel a bit relieved that I didn't find her dead little body on Saturday morning and I feel all guilty again.

This is fun.   Tongue

Time helps, and I'm trying to be patient.  I"m passing part of the time palpating the boys, looking for tumors.  It's driving them crazy.   8)  "Will you STOP poking me!  That's not a lump, that's my spine.  CUT IT OUT!!!!"

Even my hair was sad.  Yesterday I couldn't do anything, and I mean anything, with it; I tried hairsticks and my beak clip and
**shudder**
horrible.  I finally put one of the huge octopus clips I bought at Claire's on my bun to hide the loops of hair and sticking-out-bits.  Today it's much more manageable, and I'm wearing my Spiced Rosaline Rapunzelstix.

This morning I was putting on my makeup.  I use a TV tray to set everything out; I was putting on my eyeliner when Gorey decided he wanted to be petted.  Now.  Right now.  NOWNOWNOWNOWNOWNOW.  He jumped up on my TV tray and I grabbed at all the open powders and tried to put them out of harm's way.  Then he started swishing his big giant fluffy tail and CRASH--there goes the mascara.  BOOM--down goes the eyeshadow.  KABLOOEY--sigh.  There go the makeup brushes.  He doesn't even flinch at the noise, he merely stares at me the whole time with those round little green eyes that are a bit too close together.  "So.  Pet me? Thank you.  purrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr."

Fish.  Definitely next time I'm getting fish.

BPAL:  Budding Moon (Plum blossom, peony, lotus root, Chinese musk and a hint of white ginger) This is beautiful when first on--a very light, slightly fruity floral.  It smells like early spring when the sky is watery blue and the sunlight is clear and the leaves are just peeping out and are a tender, pale green.  And my allergies try to kill me.   Wink  As it dries down, the scent thickens and becomes a bit powdery, and at first I thought it was orris root; however, there is no orris.  Must be the musk.  It's not objectionable, but I like the fresh fruity floral much better.  I'm keeping this; I'll try re-applying at noon or maybe a scent locket.
