I agree with gabi...very cool hair and fun bike.
I had just automaticly assumed that you rode upright. I think you're right. Biking sitting back makes much more sense.

I really want to try that, now.  For some strange reason, I pictured you on a giant harley! >.<

Do your legs get a good workout from that?

You've not the only one who pictured that, Panpeus! When I first joined LL, I thought BB called herself that because she rode around on a motorcycle! lol.

This is an old-fashioned drawing, but it's pretty much what I had going on in my mind. Yes, I know I'm weird.

LOL!  Yes, when I took on the Bikerbraid moniker, I knew there was the potiential for confusion, but it was just the best name I could come up with.  Undecided  Actually the guys on the choppers usually give us a thumbs up and acknowledging nod when they pass us - because we are in a similar, comfy position.  Just consider my bike the human powered version of the chopper.

Panpeus; Yes, the legs still get a workout - something has to power the weight!  The primary differences are in starting, stopping, and going up hill.  In all three cases, you have to make sure you use your lower gears, or else you fall over at slow speeds (keep in mind you can't stand up on these bikes).  The other difference is the grin  Grin on your face while riding and the tendancy to want to go FAST!

My boyfriend rollerblades SO fast, I can't keep up with him on a conventional bike.  Does your bike go as fast as a common one?

My style of recumbent (short wheel-base), is designed to be FASTER than a standard upright bike.  When recumbents were initially designed long, long ago, they were banned from bike races because of the "unfair advantage".  The reclined position gives you better areodynamics and wind resistance.  I typically bike at about 15 mph.  I'm not the fastest person in the world by any shot, but I can hold my own.  On a downhill, I will typically pass a standard bike that I was keeping up with on the flats.  Uphill I am slower, but that is due to my own poor conditioning and arthritis in my joints.

As for the roller bladers - I have come across a number of them that clip along at close to 18 -19 mph on a paved trail.  They are amazing.

Yep, that's my boyfriend.  A lady in her car leaned over to him and said "You're going 20mph!  How do you do it?"  He just chuckles while I'm struggling to keep up.

I don't mind the view from the back, though! >.>

I've had people do that to me when I'm cruising at 25 mph or higher.  One person asked where the motor was!

I bet the view is a good one  Lips Sealed

Chalk me up as number five! I thought Bikerbraid was a biker punk Wink
Panpeus, your twist braid looks really really cool. I've been having a hard time doing a French braid that looks even, so this will be added to the "to try" list. Thanks for sharing your do Smiley

I am soooo sorry to burst that bubble of what all of you thought I was.  My preferences are human powered over motors (bikes vs motorcycles/cars; canoe/sailboats vs motorboats; Xcountry skiing/snowshoeing vs snowmobiles; hiking vs ATVs).

Here I thought I was presenting a nice sweet, motherly image and instead all of you were seeing me as a beer swigging, mud raslin', motorcycle momma.  :::shakes head:::
