sock bun...

basically, angel, I snipped the toes off of a pair of Paul's old socks (clean!!) rolled one up, starting at the ex-toe, and when it got to the end, up by the "top" of the sock, I started rolling on the other sock, until I basically had a "sock doughnut" .. put my hair in a ponytail and slipped it through the donut, so that it's like a really odd, sock colored scrunchie. Then, I basically tilted my head forward enough so that the hair spread out around the ring(with a little manual help so that it covered the entire sock)and secured in place with an ouchless ponytail holder (didn't even need to double it, just... slip it over the ring and you're done!) with a little re-arranging of the loose hair, the basic style is done! And for the roses, I pretty much twisted some jewelry wire, stuck it through the hole in a silk flower, and voila! blue rose hairpins!

(and yea, that's pretty much what I meant by impossible dream.. the dream of a true, pure love that will last forever and always, and be so happy together, and never fight because you WUFF each other... blah blah... *hack-gag*) I should post my poem along those lines... it's really dark and dismal... I like it.

lol @ "ex-toe" and "sock colored scrunchie." Your language cracks me up sometimes.  Grin
Definitely a good use for old socks though.

I'd love to read your poem if you ever feel like posting it.  Smiley

Well, in my language's defense, it is descriptive!  Tongue
Anyway, as a warning, it's not all that good, and pretty long, so I don't expect anybody to actually read it.

BLUE ROSES

She raises her eyes to the one she loves and she sighs.
“How can I think to raise a hand
And dare try to touch such perfection?”
So she stays silent.
She never tells her shining ray of light and hope
How much she loves him.
Because he never knew he was her light
He lived with a heart shrouded in darkness.
He loved the quiet girl but he dared not speak to tell her
For he feared her heart was barred to him.
And thus instead he let the darkness in his heart spread
Until it closed over his mind and his life
He died in a haze of blood and tears
Carved into each hand, two words. “Impossible Dream.”
Clutched in one hand was a blue rose.
In the other, a photograph of her.
Affixed to his chest and stained with his blood was a note:
“I’m sorry you couldn’t love me.
I’m sorry I couldn’t be enough for you.
Like the blue rose which nature cannot create,
My love for you was an impossible dream.”
On the day of his funeral, she placed a black rose on his chest.
She kissed his cold blue lips
And as a tear fell from her eye,
She screamed, “ I always loved you!
I’m sorry I never told you
But you seemed so perfect that I was scared.”
She whispered, “Please forgive me, darling.”
And  “I’ll be home soon.”
From that day forward she was changed.
No longer the sweet girl she once had been
She drove everyone away who had loved her.
She covered her once pale body with tattoos,
A trellis of blue roses climbing her soul.
She was filled with grief and guilt.
She blamed his death on herself.
She hated herself and everyone else.
Until the day she let her dark heart go.
The grief that had slowly poisoned her soul
Won the fight to end her life.
She died in a haze of tears,
Covered in blood and blue roses.
Her life was like an impossible dream.
It couldn’t last without hope.

Hi all, I'm glad those of you who commented liked it Smiley I like to write poems, though most aren't really that good. I have a disk with as of yesterday, 200 saved on it! I have the same files backed up on my BF's hard drive (they're saved in bundles of 20)... I've also got two tables of contents, one by number(for easy finding of certain poems) and one alphabetized so I can make sure and not reuse the same name.
<warning, self exposition. dark waters ahead>
Many come from a deep, dark time in my life where my pen was quite literally, one of the few things keeping me alive. I will now admit to you something not many people really know... I am one of those people who finds mental pain easier to deal with if I can draw it out into the physical realm... Yes, that does indeed mean I used to cut myself to relieve emotional pressure. I'm not proud of it, I'm not advocating it, by any means, but... this is who I was. Am, I suppose, for although I don't give in to the urges anymore, they'll always be there. And frankly, letting off steam slowly like that, kept me from going in one big cataclysmic explosion that would have ended with no Kiraela here to talk to you today.
Many of my poems talk about this, in veiled terms, or even right out in the open. It's funny how, for years, nobody understood what I was talking about in them... Thinking that blood, scars, wounds... they were all metaphorical. *shrugs* they weren't.  I hope you guys don't think less of me for who I am, what I was... But then, I won't blame you if you do.
</self exposition>

I'm thinking, I should go through and post a poem every couple of days, what do you think?

(now, to make this NOT the most depressing post ever, a notice that there will soon be pictures over in the show off your locks section. Yay, hair photos.)

Thanks Smiley It seems like you guys are part friends, part family, you know? *grouphug*

Did another deep treatment day before yesterday, and I think my hair is finally getting used to all this pampering, although it was impossible to keep it up yesterday. Have you ever had the feeling that your hair was like, "nope, I'm too pretty today to put up."...? yeah. I had one of those days yesterday.

I've been quite bored lately, which has led to irritation with everything around me, which has led to being upset/depressed... I don't handle negative emotions well.  Not to mention it's been colder than usual for the past couple of days, which has thrown my mind into it's fall/winter cycle early. LOVELY. To make up for it I've been sleeping more, but there's only so many hours one can sleep in a row, you know?

anyway, for the most part, I'm doing well though.
