Nice to see you again, Kiraela! I was wondering what happened to you. I'm glad you went to the doctor, but it sucks that you get headaches from being in a certain position.

Thank you for sharing another great poem with us!

I like getting the poems out there, even if they're not that good, it's nice to get my inner thoughts, memories, ect heard.

I've had an interesting couple of days. *giggle*
First: tuesday, went to a seminar on how to take a band on tour and not get screwwed, given by Martin Atkins, of pigface, PiL, Damage Manual, etc. basically he's been a touring musician for 30 years, owner of one of the only major industrial labels(invisible inc.)... and an all around cool dude.  It's basically to publicize his book on the same topic(book, boulder of paper, weight lifting object... it's all the same, really...(aka big book)) After the seminar was over, there was a drawing for various sound equipment things. Mark, our friend who works for presonus(the company giving away the loot) held the sign in sheet, while Martin poked at it with a pen to pick the first winner. (imagine this in a heavy east london accent, if you will) "Michae... Michael... Fitz... What the bloody F###? Kiraela at yahoo... you've won a lesson in bloody F'ing handwriting!"

teehee.....

actually I won a "faderport", which is completely useless. However, as soon as the drawing was over, Paul went to ask mark what it was, and mark's first comment was"well, it's.. umm.. you can sell it on ebay for about a hundred bucks!" then he offered to switch it out for the interface that we really need... same price, and Paul's been bugging mark to try and get him one cheap for oh, since they were first made...  So I'm not saying the drawing was rigged, but... *suspicion**implication*... but I am getting the interface I want, so I win!

anyway, I got to meet and talk to Martin for a bit. well, squeak, anyway. And I bought a copy of the book, which ended up signed "to the girl with bad penmanship"...  It's pathetic how much that amuses the crap out of me....

Also I finally got to hear my friend Brad's fmusic(Torrent Vaccine), besides the four songs on the myspace... and now I desperately want him to bloody well finish the CD so I can get a copy.

Also, the guy bartender was cute as heck... he's an old friend of paul's, so p. just thought it was funny that I was like, "preettyyyyy...." since the guy's boyfriend was also there. The female bartender had hair somewhere between hip and tailbone length! I'm not sure if it was naturally black, or she just looked good with it dyed, but... anyway, it was gorgeous.

I saw the woman with the ankle length hair here in town, again, although it seems to have been trimmed a few inches since then. I got a chance to compliment her, and she was pleased that somebody took the time to tell her how great it looked.

there's an odd thing around here, called a "free store"(oxymoron? possibly) which is basically, a woman collects used clothes and gives them away out of a metal building next to her house, every thursday. I donated a couple of things that no longer fit, and while I was there, I browsed a bit and came back with a couple of tops. oddly enough, the only things in my size were silk. *is not complaining*
Including a dark blue silk brocade blouse which fits perfectly, and I don't think I've taken it off since I got back.

Oh, and Riley, the other musician friend I mentioned a long time ago, at the time with dude-bsl hair, is now nearly to waist, and growing out his beard... it's apparently getting towards time for him to start stage performances again.

Speaking of which, I need to start practicing with my guitar again(and keyboard, and vocals... *rolls eyes*)

Oh, and the bartender with the pretty hair complimented mine!

it's odd, how you can go to a store for one thing, and end up with a hundred items, none of which are what you originally wanted...

I asked to go to hong kong seafood market, while we were in BR today, since we had to pass right by it. I wanted to see if they had any fancy, lacquered chopsticks I could use as hairsticks. No go... instead, I ended up with a sack of bamboo sticks for 3$...i'm now the proud owner of 90 pairs of chopsticks (there were 91 pairs, but I tested the breaking strength on one set... impressively strong for something so thin, and very bendy)

I also got a set of woodworking tools at another store... I'm going to have fun for the next few weeks...

Paul also got what appears to be squid jerky... I can't wait to try that one.. I like calamari. (Is an odd teenager, yes. likes spinach, broccoli, squid, does not care for chocolate(except when the word malt is included in the item description!)... finds most pizzas icky, etc.)

We also came home with two types of soy sauce, teriyaki sauce(the good stuff you can only get there, at least around here), kung pow, hoisin, and vegetarian stir fry sauces,  sesame oil, and another bottle of what is simply known as "seasoning" (one of my favorite ingredients in most any sort of meat/veggie combo meal!) since I'm almost out...

I also had a moment when I stood, staring in awe at the tea selection. *drool* I ended up getting a 3-4 cup tea pot made for loose teas, and tins of green tea, and jasmine tea.

I've discovered somethings about myself today. 1. I adore the smell of jasmine. 2. jasmine tea sweetened with a spot of honey is worth starting wars over. 3. I must learn the traditional tea ceremony now. *makes a note to call riley and let him know I've got J. tea... (also makes a note to clean before calling, because he'll be here in less time than it takes to blink, and demanding a cup!) One thing about having a friend who's an archeologist, librarian, and all around obsessive knowledge collector... if I want to know something, ask him. He will know. Or he will know within a day. Or there is nothing to be known. Anyway, where was I.  oh yes. 4. I should not be trusted with unlimited budgets near specialty teas. I was good though, I only got two tins.

Basically, Jasmine tea= WIN! I drank an entire pot, and make a sort of "awwwww Sad" noise when it was empty.

and to make sure this isn't COMPLETELY off topic, I got Ice Shine S&C  at the dollar general! they never carried it before, so I am happy!  even more importantly, my hair will be happy...

Well, I knew this day would come, but it doesn't make it any easier... My hair, expecially around the face, has started breaking off at the dye-line. It's almost getting to the point where it looks like I am growing out bangs. It feels like it... The same inability to put the strands up, constantly getting in the way, and worse, tangling with my headphones and glasses.  I guess this is a lesson in paying for mistakes, sometimes for years.

Good news, though, I tought myself to eat with chopsticks! I didnt' even fling anything like last time I tried. Also: eating peas with sticks is ... a pain in the arse.

also, chopstick knowledge is useful for polite dining in wilderness situations! Say you're lost in a bigarse forest, starving, and manage to catch food with a rock... but you don't want to use your hands to eat... hey look. a pair of twigs! problem solved!
*is in a random mood*

Sorry to hear about the breakage. My hair's been that way for about a year now as damage from previous years & stress grows out.  Sad  Sux. I feel for ya, kiddo.

You know, It's quite amazing to me that my right foot hasn't simply... detatched itself and run off from all the abuse I put the poor thing through. almost every time I twist an ankle, it's the right one...

Basically, I was raking a path through the leaves to get to the truck, when the rake slipped... One large gash, a blood trail through the house, and three gauze pads later, and I think the bleeding's stopped... I had to think about it for a minute, since I didn't remember when the last time I had a tetanus shot. Apparently it was right around the time I had my appendix out, so I am still good.

Oddly, that was my first thought... in that moment of sheer clarity between "wound" and "OW BLOODY f@#$"... "I wonder when my last tetanus vaccination was..."

what sucks almost as bad? I just mopped yesterday.

Poor paul, he must think I'm such a sissy. When he was younger and less... law abiding... he ran a gang and regularly stitched up bullet wounds, slashes, stabs, etc... so what is to me massive blood loss, is to him.. nothing particularly to worry about.  Whereas I'm freaking the heck out. I can handle blood. (Obviously), but pain, blood that WON'T STOP, my own sheer stupidity(raking with slip on shoes) and somebody POKING it, trying to clean out bits of leaf, dirt, rust, ect. from a deep arse gash in my toes,  That I cannot handle very well.

Then again, when I needed stitches on my thumb a few years ago, I had to be sedated to allow that to be cleaned.
I don't handle medical work being done on me very well....

Oh, Kiraela, I love reading your journal. LMAO! You are killing me with your comedic wit here...

Hope your foot gets better soon. I know what you mean about accidents always happening on one side. For awhile, it seemed like the only ankle or knee that I sprained was my right.  Tongue

Thanks for your well wishes, everybody! *hugs*  Angel: eh, I just call it as I see it Tongue (growing up, my brother was always the witty, amusing one. I'm just... weird... and it sorta comes out on it's own)

Foot: the injured toe is swollen, painful, and is making it difficult to walk (too much pressure/movement of the foot from arch down causes much ow)... It doesn't appear to be infected, simply healing angrily. I've been peroxiding it regularly.

Unfortunately, a few days ago I'd agreed to go with my friend to her doctor's appt... she needs somebody to go get a wheelchair and make sure everything is set before she leaves the car... and no one else was available, so I kept my commitment and went anyway. I tried wearing a shoe... much screaming and blood stoppage later, I figured wrapping my entire foot in an ace bandage(padding!) and several socks would have to do...  Needless to say, I was in bad shape when I got home... took a nap, and woke up to the (evil demon)cat peeing on the bed. Of course, later I cleaned the litterbox (I do so every day, it's not like she's peeing elsewhere to protest a dirty box... she's just a B#%ch), and went to stand up using the towel rack as an assist(sore foot not taking weight, and all) and ended up with the ceramic bar-holder breaking free from the wall and whacking me in the head. I'm really starting to think that wrapping myself in bubble wrap (with air holes, or at least nose-straws) might be a good idea.

Several tylenol, Ibuprofen, and another nice nap (and some yummy kung pow beef stir-fry) later, And I'm feeling better.

It's sad though, I've come to the realization that it's a very good thing that everybody who meets Emma-kitty adores her... If paul tried to make me choose between him and my baby, I'm pretty sure I'd be trying to find transport back to missouri! I'm not sure but I think I might love my cat almost too much. Then again, I'm pretty sure that given half a chance, at least two avowwed cat haters (one of which has previously killed at least one cat( Angry) would take her home and treat her like a princess.

Speaking of which: ...

can we say awww?  I came home from grocery shopping and emma didn't come running to greet me like she usually does... I was concerned so went looking for her. Turns out the silly thing was too busy napping. Right now she's curled up under the sheet with her head on my pillow... I seriously don't think she 100% realizes she's a cat.
