Thank you,Trisha!  Shasta is at the vet's right now awaiting the teeth cleaning procedure and the biopsy.  The vet said she would try to remove as much as possible, but also felt that she would have to remove teeth and bone.  When we see what the result of the biopsy is we can then see what the next course of action is.
I tell you this is soooo stressful!  I truly am hoping for the best expecting the worse. Sad
Anyone who has a pet or pets knows the stress of it. You would think with all the pet rabbits, ferrets and birds that have passed to Rainbow's Bridge; I'd be either numb or used to the feelings that go with this.  I'll never get used to it............

Not at all. You're not supposed to get used to it and it's not supposed to get easier. If it does, something's wrong.

Hoping the best for Shasta & you. Kiss

Thanks. Kiss  You're right about never getting used to it and something's wrong if you do get used to it.
Anyone who tells us that either- has no clue or hasn't been "owned" by a pet.

The biopsy should be back in about 5-7 days.  Shasta is on 3 meds. for a week.  The vet took about 70% of the tumor and 5 teeth. Shocked  My poor baby!!!!  I just glad she's home and I can take care of her.  She has so much trouble eating, even the mush that I made for her.  One day at a time..............

The biopsy results are in.  It's cancer. Cry  One way to go is a CT scan  and MRI to see how progressed the tumor is.  An other way if to put her on Peroxicam.  That is supposed to slow the progression of the tumor.  I'd have to go into the city for the CT scan.  Getting there with Access-A-Ride Undecided  They can either be good or forget it, I'm not going to use the words that come to mind to describe them Shocked Angry  First and foremost is Shasta's quality of life and comfort.

Thanks,Trisha!
I've scheduled a CT scan and consultation for Tues.  We got back from the vet alittle while ago and the incision is 2/3rds healed.  She is not eating or drinking as much as I'd like so the vet gave me 6 cans of AD and 6 bottles of AD liquid.  So far Shasta ate a full can and drank some of the liquid.  I'm happy with that.
The CT scan will tell us alot-how advanced is the cancer, what options if any to consider, maybe duration of life Cry  I am trying to hang in,but this is my kid!  All I want is quality of life for her and yes,I'll be selfish and wish for a few more happy healthier years for her and with her!
This makes me sick! Tongue
One more disease to be added to the long list of things I hate with all my heart.

I have been reading what you have been writing and sympathizing with all my heart.  I would have written sooner, but just having gone thru losing Kelly and Cleo, it was a little difficult.  Hope all goes as well as possible.

Thanks,Mel.  It's ok, I totally understand.  It is tough to get back on track for alittle bit when your baby or babies isn't/aren't well.  I don't know what is worse-knowing a time frame or not knowing a time frame................ Undecided

Poor Curlgirl. Don't get too caught up with "time frames." Some cancer patients outlive them...most don't make it half as long.

Try to focus on Shasta's quality of life. When it's time for her to go, you'll know it.
