Yes, I know seamless combs are best. I've been a LongLocks member for almost 5 years now and have heard all of the arguments against plastic brushes. But you know what? I've also heard all of the arguments against cones, sulfates, Pantene and pretty much everything else I've used on a daily basis for the last 10 years. For every argument, there's a counter argument and breaking the rules is nothing new to me.

Be true to your hair is right.  All of the things you do would be terrible for my baby fine tresses,  but making the changes has helped my hair look better and be more manageable.

The latest tests say I am Pie and my inner demon is intensity.  How true.  Not sure if that is good or bad.  Smiley

Trisha: Amen, sista!

Melusine: Bless your heart, fine haired sister. As a matter of fact, I do have an interview tomorrow but if there were any major developments in the job search, I'd have reported it by now. *sigh* Undecided I appreciate the support though. Every little bit helps.

Hair: CWC with a different shampoo this morning. Instead of the old Pantene Volume, I decided to try the blend of Pantene Nature Fusion moisture balancing and Kenra moisturizing shampoos that I'd been using as a bodywash. Talk about residue. Tongue

Once again I'm becoming quite disillusioned with the new Pantene. It seems as if the MTDM conditioner rinses out too quickly yet leaves a sort of waxy coating behind at the same time. Huh Difficult to describe but it's definitely not the same as the old Moisture Renewal conditioner.

For my one and only leave-in today, I used the new Pantene MT detangler which seems to leave an odd coating on my hair. Not sure if it's the glycerin or what but it's not sexy, baby. Undecided I still have the Curly and Restore Beautiful Lengths leave-ins to try before I give up completely. They really need to get it together.

So far my hair's been down all day. I've combed through the length once since it was washed but that's it. Actually I'm debating running to the store before band practice to see if I can get my hands on a new Velvet Touch purse brush. Obsessed much? Roll Eyes

Etc.: Yep, band practice tonight. Our last before the show on Friday. I'm anticipating a bit of drama. Undecided

The burn has faded almost entirely from my arms and left them with a depressingly "average American" color that could, I suppose, be described as "light" but not quite "fair" and certainly not "pallid."
Earlier this afternoon, my mother said that my face looked -gasp!- tan. Or at least tan for me. ... She also said that in 2 days, you'd never know it. I can only pray she's right. Undecided

On Friday the band is getting new photos along with live footage from the show for our website so I'd better be back to my stark white self by then or do an Oscar-worthy makeup job on all exposed flesh. Undecided

Thus I've been staying in the dark, exfoliating a lot and using various paling remedies. Whatever it takes. God help me.

Hair: Ugh. Decided to try out the purple Herbal Essences Hydralicious S&C that I bought sometime ago and never used. The shampoo was thicker than jellied brains and didn't even lather until I added lots of water to it. Even then it was like trying to wash my hair with super glue. Shocked
Rinsing it out was interesting too. Ever loaded every last inch of your hair with EVOO for an overnight treatment and then rinse it the next morning? Same kind of thing. Tongue Heavy, gloppy, greasy...

The matching conditioner would've been a dream were it not for the burning sensation it caused. Undecided It didn't leave behind a waxy residue when I rinsed it out but the Pantene conditioner that I followed it with certainly did.

Today's only leave-in was ELOO on the ends. I let the whole mess dry for as long as possible but ended up having to break out the blowfryer and dry upside down on the cool, high settings. Time constraints, people.
Then I just shook it out and twisted it into a dreaded scrunchie bun...a look I hadn't rocked in years. That was the style for most of the afternoon. Upon returning home, I took it down, combed it out and put it in a proper bun with 2 bobby pins.

Etc.: Another interview, blah blah blah. I'm hardly trying anymore - went to this one with a black, glittery, chipped manicure, "experimental" hair and very little makeup. Drove like the devil to get there on time only to be told that the interview was being pushed back an hour (the time I'd originally requested when we set it up). Angry

Halfway through the usual bs, I found out it was a part time position. Angry Better than nothing, perhaps, but had I known that in advance, I wouldn't have bothered.

After it was over, I returned the Pantene Medium-Thick spray conditioner at Target...and this character was in line in front of me:

...

Yes, that's a man. He was there with an enormous black woman with enormous gold earrings. I had to keep from giggling and muttering, "this ain't Walmart, darlings" until they were well out of earshot.

Anyway, I eventually took the cheap route and got another bottle of Suave Kids double dutch apple detangler. It will do while I use up all of the random shampoos & conditioners that have been in my supply closet for æons.

Mel & Sakina: Thanks.

Hair: Another WCC to make up for yesterday's disaster. Washed once all over with Suave Pro Humectant shampoo and followed with an ACV rinse. Conditioned with Pantene MTDM and a Suave Ocean Breeze chaser.

Leave-ins were Suave Kids detangler (love the apple fragrance and the fact that it's oil free) and ELOO. Style is a bun secured with 2 bobby pins.

Etc.: The company that interviewed me yesterday offered me the position and at first I accepted, but as I was leaving the building, I knew something wasn't right. As would later come to my attention, the wages were a joke and wouldn't have been worth relinquishing my unemployment. After agonizing over it for most of the night and discussing it with my family, I called the company back this morning and told them I had changed my mind. They were cool about it and even wished me luck with the show tomorrow.

Speaking of which, I've been preparing as much as possible - redoing my nails, deciding on clothes and makeup to wear on stage, etc. etc. Unfortunately my usual ghostly pallor won't be restored by tomorrow. Angry Blasted sunburn.
Crappier still is that all of the bands must be at the venue with all of their gear by 7 PM but we don't take the stage until midnight. Unless they let us leave the building, that means doing sod-all for 5 hours. Tongue We're the last band to go on and of course it's not a paid gig.

Anyway, it was over 100°F today and tomorrow's supposed to be hotter. Fellow southwesterner Sakina is probably grateful to be in Paris right now.

You Are a Vampire

...

Right? You seem like a vampire. Pale? Check. Strong? Check. Nocturnal? Check!
There's a good chance you even like the taste of blood, and that's just down right creepy.

The funniest part about you being a vampire is that you haven't seemed to notice it yet. You must have some pretty weird habits to let the news slip by you like that.
Stay out of the sunlight, and avoid Italian restaurants (too much garlic). And if you have to feed on a human, please be gentle!

Thanks, Curlgirl. Smiley

Ahh, a little downtime before I have to start getting ready for the show.

Just got back from Target. I finally broke down and bought a new liquid foundation. L'Oréal Infallible...anyone ever tried it? My shade is soft ivory.

The hair is staying down until I go to bed tonight...whenever that may be. The routine this morning was a CWC with Suave ocean breeze light conditioner, Suave Pro humectant shampoo and Pantene MTDM conditioner. Leave-ins were Suave Kids detangler and ELOO.
It's a bit of a mess at the moment so I'm running a seamless comb through it as I type this...because I'm part octopus.

Got one résumé sent out this morning - for a full time position, no less. When days go by without a single prospect, I'm grateful for the days when I'm able to send out at least one résumé.

My father has a border town gig tonight and will be driving from there to the club where our band is performing tonight.
He's getting ready so I guess I may as well start. Now where did I put that blue glitter eyeliner?

Hair: Clarified and ready to start over. Yesterday I picked up more Pantene Nature Fusion Smooth Vitality S&C (mostly for the bottles, I confess) and decided to use one of my mother's Suave Pro rosemary mint conditoners as a light conditioner. That will start tomorrow. Today, like every Sunday, I needed a clean slate.

Also, I'm ironically happiest with the Pantene spray conditioner for curly hair. Huh At least so far. It was my only leave-in today.

Music: Friday's show went rather well. Lizard only missed a minor part of one song. We also debuted our new song in front of a live audience...but once again said live audience was a scant few consisting of mainly Grateful Ed's family & friends.
One very fashionable and flamboyant club patron wandered in after we'd finished our set and were tearing down. He was disappointed to have missed us even though he hadn't the first clue who we were. He asked me to sing a bar for him and said that I had a wonderful voice. And he hugged me at least 3 times.
Downtown was crazy as it always is on the weekends. The clubs and restaurants were all quite busy and the streets and sidewalks were crowded like New York City. The curbs were all occupied so Lizard had to park his minivan in the street and put on his distress lights, blocking a lane as 5 of us threw our gear into the back and crammed into it with cars swerving to get around us. I rode in the back, smashed up against a door until we got back to Lizard's place. What a night!

Etc.: Spent most of last night washing and waxing my car, though my mother interrupted to have me drive her to a friend's party...in her car. I was in no shape for company but hadn't seen the hostess or her 3 kids in years so I made the effort to go in and say hi anyway. They are lifelong family friends and I wasn't sure when I'd see them again. It was a hippie party and I drove my mum's car home with a pink plastic peace sign around my neck.

Today was spent painting my parents' office a strange color that I can only describe as a pale, dusty berry. It goes fantastically with the Victorian items in my room so I requested to have the same color when the time comes to paint in there.

In any case I'm exhausted so I'll bid you all adieu for now.

Curlgirl: Amen to that!

Hair: Broke in the Pantene Nature Fusion Smooth Vitality S&C again. I ... the Nature Fusion line! Amaaazing softness.
The Curly detangler is working well too. The only problem today was the ELOO. Wayyy too heavy - hair is in a bun, which works for all of the home renovation I've been doing.

Etc.: For the last two days my parents and I have been renovating and relocating their home office, which is a lot of work by itself, let alone in 100° weather. Tongue Outdoor painting = thank God for umbrellas!

Right now I'm watching Property Virgins on HGTV and cracking up at the couple who are looking all over San Diego for a nice house in the $400,000 range. Grin The first place they looked was one of the poshest (read: most expensive) areas in the county. They're obviously not native to the area.
I always find humor in discussing real estate with people who aren't from SoCal.
Looks like the couple ended up moving into the area where I used to work. I'm sure their son will appreciate all of the strip clubs and "adult" shops nearby as he gets older. Grin Suckers.

In other news, I've been trying to restore my pallor after the burn from 2 weeks ago and so far it's coming along nicely. I'd love to be even paler than I was before the burn if that's even possible.

Anyway, time to trade these paint clothes for pj's. I'm knackered.

Hair: Eck. Tongue This morning's CWC did nothing for yesterday's greasy ends and the oil seems to be traveling slowly up my hair. Tongue No oil today! Sprayed with Curly detangler, air dried and wrapped the mess into a bun. Tomorrow I'll definitely wash the entire length. Oil just isn't Angel's friend. Angry

Etc.: Been finding new bug bites on my arms for the past 2 days. Pulling my bed away from the wall, I found a few stray spiders - apparently the same small, brown variety that impose upon my bathroom - along with a crazy amount of dust. So I've been cleaning and spraying everything in that room. And again it's 100°F outside. The joys of summer. Tongue

We're less than a month away from fall though. I must keep reminding myself. Speaking of which....

Covet: Sephora's Ultra Shine Lip Gloss in Black Energy. Sheer black with purple micro glitter. ...

This is definitely the worst time of year to be broke. All the pretty, dark things hit the shelves and some can't resist going home with me. Wink

Hair: Yesterday I combined the last of my Pantene Volume and Nature Fusion Smooth Vitality shampoos in the latter's bottle and slightly diluted the mix with water. Interesting blend...still does the job, albeit with thinner lather. I  was also able to use up the MTDM conditioner, thank goodness - one less annoying abbreviation. Roll Eyes

Thus today I was left with a blended shampoo, Nature Fusion conditioner and Suave light conditioner to do a WCC. I'm experimenting with washing the entire length of my hair every 3 days.

Lately my only leave-in is Pantene's Curly detangler. Its formula seems closest to that of the old one which I loved. Why oh why did they have to go and change everything?

So far my hair has been air dried for a long time but I haven't yet managed to put it up. It's been a rather busy day.

Etc.: My father's band has 2 gigs in San Juan Capistrano over the weekend so the house is all mine until Monday night. I've wasted no time in making it as cool and dark as possible though it's not even 90°F outside.

The window in my room now has a blackout shade behind its heavy velvet curtains to prevent intrusion from even the faintest flicker of sunlight. The guest room has one too. So nice to be rid of the broken, old vertical blinds that were there before!

Anyway, hope everyone's enjoying their weekend so far. I'm off to create another deliciously dark manicure for the week. Ta-ra!

Hair: Afternoon arrived before I got around to washing my hair today...or, well, yesterday technically. So an ACV rinse coupled with the usual CWC seemed in order. Still using the blended shampoo + Pantene Nature Fusion conditioner + Suave ocean breeze light conditioner. Again, today's only leave-in was Pantene's Curly detangler, which I've decided that I don't fancy as well as the old stuff. Angry

In all honesty, I'm quite hoping that an epic new brand will pop up and be the best thing I've ever tried because my hair is once again reaching the obstinate point where it doesn't like anything. Sigh...

Etc.: My parents returned from southern Orange County just as the Emmies were getting underway. I had thought that they wouldn't get back until Monday night...guess I heard wrong. But they brought me frozen yogurt so all was well. My father's voice is absolutely shot so I don't know how he'll fare at practice on Tuesday if there is one.

Nails have been redone in a very sparkly black. I'm taking full advantage of not having any interviews scheduled. A new mani would be nicer to look at were one of my fingers not swollen from a silly accident this morning. Or yesterday morning...technically. Speaking of which, it's 1:30 AM and I'm knackered. G'night, loves.
