LOL Trisha.  Grin  My sentiments exactly.

Sounds like your husband is healing up quite well. All the best to both of you!  Smiley

Arcadian, it's funny you should mention pantheism, because that's an area I very much want to study further.  Don't worry about posting in my journal--feel free to do so anytime.

Oh great and thanks !  Nice you feel inclined a little that way too Smiley  Keeping it short (!) I think for me the beauty of it all was that there was little or nothing to study in the first place, rather how anything of Mother Nature seemed to affect me at any given moment.

I guess at the bottom of it all is how deeply every one of one’s senses is eventually capable of becoming 100% aware, feeling and resonating with Nature. Not necessarily running round embracing and chatting ecstatically to trees etc., so much as unwinding until you begin to feel a part of Her. It's hard to explain so I know this might sound a bit odd (!) but I love it when She always seems to physically or emotionally "come" to you rather than you trying to find or study something about Her, consequently I've always disliked anything that became too deep or esoteric. It's so laboured and makes you feel uncomfortable. In other words it was what I slowly discovered suited me, rather than perhaps what I felt I "had” or was “most compelled” by others to feel most suited to.

Perhaps that's how it all started with the Ancients as well (and the Celts !) when there was just the sun and moon and the stars and Nature ? And how anyone I believe can eventually sense in exactly the same way to "feel the universe", though that does take a bit more time - coupled with the odd bout of flu !  Smiley

I'm glad your husband is already doing better, Trisha! And Arcadian, I just finished reading the page on pantheistic tenets, and apparently, I have always unknowingly had a leaning(better than 45 degree tilt, actually Tongue) towards that way of life, just never had a name for it.

Also, I take it that soap shampoo is heavily peppermint scented? *loves peppermint*

Hair
As I suspected, I needed to wash my hair this morning due to greasy-looking locks.  I don't think I'll mind shampooing more often, though, since I know this formula is utterly healthy for me.  It's a good feeling to know what all the ingredients in one's shampoo are!  With the next batch I make, I may cut down on the amount of glycerin to discover if a lesser amount helps with the greasiness.  If not, oh well--I'll continue to shampoo more frequently.   Smiley

Kiraela, I'm a peppermint freak, too!!   Cool  When I'm using the homemade shampoo in the shower, I'm in peppermint heaven.  But the smell doesn't last past the drying point.  Right now my hair simply smells like...well, hair.  That's all right, though...I'll just enjoy my pepperminty shampoo time.  Although, I just had a thought.  The recipe calls for any sort of essential oil one desires.  This step is optional and since I currently don't have peppermint essential oil, I left it out.  But now I'm wondering, had I added peppermint essential oil would the minty fresh smell last??  Hmmm....   Roll Eyes

Pantheism, yes!  It seems to suit most of what I feel and believe.  I like the idea of being able of making it my own, rather than having to (try to) stuff myself into someone or something else's idea of spirituality.

Hair
Second day hair, which doesn't look bad at all.  I was prepared to wear it up today, but after combing out the night braids my tresses looked fine being left down.  So that's I did.  Since beginning (re-beginning?) the homemade shampoo experiment, my hair looks really good--healthy and shiny.  It feels...how do I describe it?  Well, it feels coated.  I know that sounds like a negative, but it's actually a good feeling.  My tresses now have heft and a sort of thickness they didn't have before.  Anyway, so far the homemade shampoo gets a B+.  Why not an A, you ask?  Well, coming from a lifetime of using thick, soapy commercial stuff, the thinness of this mix takes some getting used to.

My daughter will be home sometime tonight, YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!!   Grin
I can't wait to give her a big ol' hug.   Smiley  Yours Truly will enjoy a 4-day weekend, as I asked off for Tuesday.  I'm planning on doing a whole lotta nuthin'...   Cool  This being Memorial Day weekend, maybe I'll take time to visit some cemeteries and talk with the ancestors.   Wink  Y'all have a good one.
Be blessed,

Still using the homemade shampoo, though not entirely happy with the results.  Even on wash days (as today was) the length appears a bit greasy.  Perhaps if less glycerin was used in the mix?  I guess I'll have to experiment with the experiment.   Wink  My daughter, who was home for a visit over the weekend, commented on how long my hair has grown.   Smiley  She, on the other hand, has gotten her hair cut short.   Shocked  It looks good on her, though, due to her natural curliness, she has to use a flat iron every time she washes.  Seems like a lot of work to me... Smiley

My 4-day weekend was great, thank you.  Didn't do anything special but it was nice having the extra time to do whatever I wanted whenever I wanted.  Well, I'd better get back to work.
Be blessed,

Welcome Back!  It is nice to have those times when you can do whatever you want whenever.

Maybe one day you'll be able to convert your daughter to a long hair. Wink

No-wash day; hair is terribly greasy.  Cause=homemade shampoo?  Probably.  Solution?  *shrug*
I could:
A.  Mix up a new batch of shampoo and decrease the amount of glycerin, which I suspect to be the culprit   Huh
or
B.  Switch back to commercial shampoo   Sad
Hmm, I don't know.  I'll keep mulling.

Well, LaD, she was actually a long hair for quite some time.   Smiley  She kept her hair long through most of her school years, until just about a year or so ago.  Then she cut it to shoulder length, and now short-short.  So I'm sure she was overdue for a change!   Wink  My daughter is one of those lucky ducks who looks good in all lengths.

Work is very quiet right now but, then, summers for me usually are less chaotic.  I haven't even worked on my genealogy projects in two weeks.  I'm waiting on more copies of death certificates anyway, and so can't progress much further until I see those.
Spirituality...Pantheism, after some research, I'm discovering, is close but still not spot-on.  It certainly acknowledges the love of nature I feel, but doesn't address my need to define my God further than I have in the past.  If I HAD to give name to my set of beliefs, I suppose Unitarian Universalism would come closest (at least from what I read of them online).  I keep reminding myself of my earlier statement:

Maybe there is no label for who I am.  Nothing wrong with being label-less.     Maybe the spiritual walker should not focus so much on reaching the end of the journey, but the journey itself.

I do not enjoy attending church services.  I feel more in tune with God by simply walking out into my back yard, or the field beside our house.  I do not feel the need of formal religion, yet enjoy exercising faith.   Smiley  So the more I remind myself of this, the more I feel it is correct...there is nothing wrong with being unlabeled.  I believe in a Divine Presence and I choose to call that entity God.  My God probably does not fit precisely into the mold of the Christian God.  But, then, it's MY God, and it doesn't HAVE TO.   Smiley

Many people feel that way. I'm not a fan of organized religion either. There's no way that it can cater to individual beliefs, so in this day and age, many churches try a broader, more generalized approach, leaving the specifics up to the individual. But you still end up with one particular denomination's version of the truth.
What is the truth? I think only you can decide that in a way that satisfies you. There isn't going to be one organized denomination that preaches your ideas exactly. Believe what makes sense to you. Everything else will fall into place with time.

All pretty close to most of how I feel too  Smiley

Though the lightest sides of Pantheism, i.e. Nature alone, will always be spot on for me I do go a little way down the road of faith too. Perhaps we all need some form of security I don't know but when I do think about it, which isn't that often, I have to accept the fact that only God could have created Nature in the first place. So I do see God as being part of Nature as well....

I think I'm happy with that nowadays !  Smiley

I couldn't stand the grease anymore, so this morning I washed and conditioned with "store bought" shampoo.  Aah, immensely better.  Hair is once again squeaky clean and soft.  I wonder how it would work if I shampooed once a week with commercial shampoo and then used homemade the rest of the week?   Huh

Thank goodness it's Friday.  Why do the 3-day work weeks feel longer than the 5-dayers?!   Tongue  No big plans for the weekend.  We'll probably watch some movies which is okay by me.   Smiley  Y'all have a good one.

I looked again at Annie B's book, found a variation on the original shampoo recipe, and decided to give it a try.  I mixed together 2 ounces of aloe vera gel, 1 ounce of liquid castille soap, and 1/8 cup of glycerin.  The concoction still looked pretty thin in my view, but I decided to use it anyway.  I like the initial results but, then, I also liked the initial results of the first formula.   Sad  --Until the greasies attacked, that is.  I'm hoping the lower amount of glycerin will help.  *fingers crossed*  Only time will tell.

My length is now 29.5 inches   Smiley  Right on schedule with my projected growth chart.  At this rate I think I should reach waist length around December or January.   Smiley

Hubby is healing nicely.  Daughter is slowly but progressivly getting used to Memphis.  Stepson is still immersed in the world of video games.  Brother in law is doing very well in his pursuit of a healthy life.
