Aw c'mon, gals, what do you think shampoo is made of...?  --Soap or detergent.  Those are the bases for the majority of commercial shampoos on the market today.   Smiley  Zest is just shampoo in a solid state!   Grin  What do you suppose the people back in the 1800s and early 1900s used to clean their hair?  Soap--probably their own homemade lye soap.  *shrug*  Ain't no big thing, sisters.   Cool  Besides, this is only an experiment.  If I find the soap to be somehow damaging for my hair then I'll return to the bottled stuff.

Tuesday 11 December 2007

Hair:  I asked hubby to measure my length this morning and came up with 33 inches.  Not bad, when I started out the year with 27--a 6 inch gain for 2007.   Smiley

Other:  This is what's happening in my little corner of the world:
http://www.semissourian.com/story/1296657.html

Five unsolved murders in my hometown solved, in one fell swoop, like a Christmas miracle.  Un-friggin-believable...the whole area is in a state of grateful disbelief.  Thank God that these families finally have some measure of closure.

Holy!  We got the Robert Pickton trial going on right now.  This guy is the one who killed god knows how many women and fed them to his pigs! Tongue  I wish we had the death penalty cause it makes me sick to have my tax money go to caring for him as he rots in jail. Lips Sealed Undecided Tongue

Stuff like that makes me sick to my stomach and so infuriated.  Why can't there just be peace in the world without all of this horrific sicko stuff?  I think those types should be executed (humanely) as well, for the greater good.

Answer: Free will. The thing that allows some people to do good allows others to do evil. This is how our souls are measured. As for "humane" executions, there really is no such thing. Civil as the government tries to make it, you're still taking another person's life. I say if you really want justice, let the victims' families have their way with the criminals! Bwahahaha! ...  Smiley

Ahem. Anyway, congrats on the gain, Trisha! Was that 6" including or excluding trims?

Wednesday 12 December 2007

Hair:  Is up in a braid bun.  I'm not planning to wash again until the weekend, unless my top is unusually greasy.

Um, EXcluding the trim, which only took off about an inch, I think.   Smiley

Other:  This is day 12 of my skirts-only challenge for the month of December.  Thus far I have not been even tempted to wear pants.  There are some various articles of clothing and footwear that I could definitely use, but those will have to wait.
Oh!  I have to tell you about my new suit!!  Yesterday the secretary for my department presented me with a brand spankin' new suit, a classy black jacket and skirt, tags still on and everything.  A friend of her mother's had died recently and they were helping to clean out her closet.  This lady was a shopaholic who never bought cheap stuff.  By the pricetags, this is a $100 suit.   Shocked  And she gave it to ME...I was so floored, I almost started to cry.   Smiley

How very nice of her, enjoy your suit! Cheesy

Also, congrats on your 33", I forgot to comment on it before.  I can't believe it's so long! Smiley

Friday 14 December 2007

Hair:  Eh, I washed this morning.  For my last working day of 2007, I wanted to leave everyone with an impression of clean hair.   Smiley  (Just for Angel and Lisa, I used regular shampoo/conditioner!)   Grin

Other:  This is my 14th day of skirts-only and I'm still loving it.

It's terribly cold here today with a snow/ice prediction for later tonight (midnight perhaps).  Old Man Winter can do his worst...as long as he waits until after I get home this evening!   Grin

Well, here it is...my last day of work for 2007.  When I first requested this time off it seemed so far away.  Yet here it is; only 4 hours left and counting.   Smiley
When I'm away from my high speed computer at work, I tend not to log on (at home).  So don't be surprised if y'all don't see another entry from me until 2008.  I wish each of you a safe and happy holiday season, and a blessed new year.
Until we "meet" again.....   Kiss

Wednesday 19 December 2007

You see how much I love all of you?  I'm braving the agony of dial-up just to visit.   Grin  Actually response time isn't too terrible, although I can't figure out how to access my regular Yahoo mail account.  *sigh*  Oh well.

Hair:  Monday morning I washed with Zest soap (top of the head only) and rinsed with diluted vinegar.  No problems yet from using simple soap.

Other:  While I'm on vacation, hubby and I are cleaning/straightening/rearranging the basement.  Oy vey, what a chore.  The problem is that this house has become a repository for several different people, over several different generations.  Not only is our stuff stored here, but so too is some of my daughter's, my stepson's, and my sister's things.  AND I have also inherited the job of keeper for the "handed down" things; items that once belonged to my parents, my grandparents (on both sides) and even sone great- and great-great grandparental posessions.  A lot of those items are antiques (dishes, etc.) that I would never part with.  But we've been condensing the stuff into boxes and have found lots of extra space.  We're about halfway through the (full size) basement and will continue the cleaning process today.  I plan on tackling my closet tomorrow and am almost dreading that chore more than the entire basement!!   Grin

I put up my Christmas tree yesterday...it took me about 5 minutes.  Well, before you think me Superwoman, the entire tree is about half a foot high.   Grin  It's a miniature tree lit with fiber optics and it fits perfectly on top of the tv.  Sorry, but that's the best I can do this year.  I simply couldn't face having to rearrange furniture, drag the heavy tree up the basement stairs, drag upstairs two boxes of lights and ornaments, erect the tree and decorate it, and then try to keep the cats from scaling the thing.  Sorry--no way.

Well, it's a little after 9 o'clock in the morning.  I've already showered and eaten breakfast, and had better get dressed.  I'll check in another day, if the dial-up gods allow.   Smiley  Be safe!

Good luck with all your cleaning and organizing! I need to start being more organized but it's soooo hard....Hmmm Zest soap, I never thought of trying regular soap in my hair.  Hopefully you won't have any problems with it!

Zest leaves an ungoldly residue on skin. I can only imagine what it would do to hair over time.  Tongue

Trisha!! I have a mini tree too! Does yours have ornaments on it?

I've got a mini tree too. about a foot tall, fiberoptic... It's actually rather nice having a christmas tree that fits on top of my computer. I've got a black rose hair pin that I'm using for the star on top of the tree, and in place of ornaments, I've got blue roses. Cheesy

Good luck on cleaning out the closet, Trish... I know even for me, who doesn't have much extra clothing... it wouldn't be easy.
