Hair
Thanks La Diosa.   Wink
Washed this morning with homemade shampoo formula #2.  Still liking this variation.  Plenty of suds to clean both the scalp and the length.  Smells good, feels good, no greasiness yet.  So far, so good.  *fingers crossed*  I also did a vinegar rinse this morning.

I've been realizing lately how much I miss having an old movie channel.  About a year ago, we decided to cut some of our expenses and lowered our dish programming package.  Unfortunately this meant I lost AMC and Turner Classic Movie channels.   Sad  I dearly love watching old black and white movies.  I suppose I could start buying DVDs and build my own collection.  *shrug*

Also on my "list" (of things I would like to do) is to update my wardrobe.  Now, I'm not talking about throwing away all of my current clothing.  But there are items that no longer fit me well since I've lost weight (woo hoo!).  They're still in pretty good shape, so I can donate those to Good Will or whoever.  Then as I can afford to do so, I would like to update and upgrade my clothing.  I'd rather own a few very stylish pieces that will mix and match into several outfits, rather than having a lot of single pieces that don't really go together.  In the past I've been truly guilty of doing the latter.  Seeing a top, for instance, that I liked and buying it.  Well, first I should have stopped and thought--does this match anything in my closet?  But it all breaks down to money, so this will be an ongoing project.

I know how you feel, I love old black and white movies too.  Well, if you start your own dvd collection at least you'll be able to see your favorites whenever you want.

Good luck with updating your closet! Smiley

Very true.  I found a website I think I may be ordering from:  www.oldies.com. ; I've already started a "wish list".   Grin

Hair
I could have washed this morning, and probably should have, but I want to find out how long I can last on this new shampoo.  Hair is a bit greasy, but no more so with the homemade shampoo than store-bought.  I think I've found a good recipe.  *fingers crossed*   Smiley

Hmmm...really nothing new.  It's mind-numbingly boring at work these days.  I should get some books to read.  The other day I printed off the Time magazine list of 100 greatest novels and would like to start reading those.  I think my first read will be Gone With The Wind.  I've seen the movie but have never read the book.  --Of course, that list is only Time's opinion of greatest novels and may not jive with my idea of greatness.   Cool

Hope your shampoo works out. Smiley

I've never read Gone With The Wind either because I love the movie so much.  I read a bit of the book when I was in middle school, but it just seemed too different from the movie to me.  I did read Scarlet though and I really liked it a lot but I refuse to watch that movie.  It wouldn't be the same without Vivian Leigh and Clark Gable.

Didn't wash all weekend, so that was...5 days without washing--is that correct?  (rereads journal for clues)  Yep, I washed last Tuesday and again this morning (Monday).  5 days.  Wow.  And the hair didn't look bad at all; not terribly greasy.  Of course, I've been primarily using a comb on my tresses instead of a brush.  I think that makes a big difference in greasiness.

But over the weekend I started thinking (which is usually dangerous)...if Dr. Bronner's liquid castille soap is as gentle as they claim, then why shouldn't I use it straight up as a shampoo instead of mixing it with other ingredients??   Huh  Why not indeed.  I checked their website this morning and, sure enough, one of the uses is as a shampoo.  The site warns people with long, straight hair that uber-sudsing may occur.  But a vinegar rinse should compensate, they state.  Well, cool!!  I'll use it straight out of the bottle then!!   Cheesy

Our operating system is down, probably all day.  So why the "H" am I sitting here, unable to do anything??  Good question.  If the system isn't up by 1 o'clock I may take the afternoon off.  Why shouldn't I, eh?  Lord knows there are chores I could be accomplishing at home.   Cool

Oh, I hate it when the operating system crashes! That happened one night at my old job and they weren't letting anyone leave, so my entire department just sat there, talked to each other, flipped through fashion catalogues, had chair races and dug out their cell phones to explain to their loved ones that they would be late. This went on for 2 freaking hours until the system finally came back on. What a bloody waste...  Tongue

No wash day; probably won't wash until Thursday or Friday.  Still planning on using Dr. Bronner's liquid castille soap (peppermint) straight out of the bottle.

I did indeed take off from work yesterday, and left around 10:30.   Smiley  I accomplished nothing at home, but it was nice to just piddle!
Yesterday I bought a used copy of Gone With The Wind by Margaret Mitchell.  So begins my quest to read the a goodly quantity of the classics.   Smiley

Put off washing my hair this morning, even though my crown could surely have used it.  No, I'll just wait until tomorrow morning.  I think I have enough of the homemade shampoo mix for one more washing, and then it's on to straight Dr. Bronner's.
Work is still agonizingly boring.  Next week I'll be fillilng in out front for our vacationing secretary.  I'm delaying reading Gone With The Wind until then, since there's little to do out front except answer the phone.   Sad  I hope I don't snap under the heaviness of boredom and ring somebody's neck...   Shocked

Gosh does that bring back memories.  When I worked for the Federal Reserve, the summer months were very slow and boring.
Hopefully, your book will provide an enjoyable distraction from the boredom. Wink

Washed this morning with the homemade formula.  I think there's still enough in the bottle for 1 or 2 more washings.

Thanks for the comments, ladies.  I know I should not complain, and most of the time I find something to occupy my time (internet, as Angel said).  I know there are millions of people who would kill to have a job like mine.  I mean, where else could I come to work, sit around on my keister most of the day doing nothing, and still get paid?!  I guess I just feel like my time and my talents are being wasted.  But I'm scared of leaving this department because everyone is super good to me.  --They're all like second family.

Hair
I've returned to using commercial shampoo.  I had used the last of the homemade mixture, went to the bathroom closet to get the Dr. Bronner's for another batch, and saw 2 big bottles of Tre Semme shampoo sitting there, along with a big bottle of the conditioner.  And suddenly I was hit with a feeling of needing to tie up loose ends.  So I decided before I continue with the Dr. Bronner's, I will work my way through the Tre Semme my daughter left behind.  The TS works well for me and I should stop "product hopping".........at least for a little while.  Smiley

This week I'm filling in out front for our receptionist.  How can I put this?  --the job is not enjoyable, but it's not intolerable either.  It's just as boring as my job, maybe even more so.  At least I have a copy of Gone With The Wind to save my sanity!  I have to say, I'm finding the book to be a great read so far.  I'll be very happy when our secretary returns next week and I can once again hide back in my little office!

My daughter got a new job!  She'll be working for the University of Tennessee Cancer Institute and her first day will be July 9.  Good money, good benefits (thank You, God!).  Yay-rah for her!!   Cool

lol Trish. Another bored receptionist here. A few years ago, I began bringing the entire Sherlock Holmes Canon with me to work and burned through it in no time. It's a great way to get in some good reading time.  Wink

And don't worry about product hopping. We all do it.
