Hair
Freshly "laundered", thank you.   Smiley  It's amazing to see the highlights and various colors the Pantene Brunette Expressions has umphed-up in my hair.  I can't quit looking at it!!

We're still enduring our annual heat wave; 102 today, which will likely be this week's average temperature.  At least the humidity is low--that's our only saving grace right now.
Classes at the elementary school near my home start this Thursday.  The fall term here at the university where I work begins next Monday, the 20th.  I can't believe it's already that time.
Finally, finally received the remaining 4 pairs of back-ordered stockings last week.  Yay!
Still working on my writing, although I did not write anything yesterday--but that's the first day I've missed in, what?  2 weeks.  For me, that's excellent.  Let's see...anything else?  I can't think of anything.  Family and friends are doing relatively well in the health and happiness departments.   Smiley

Hair
Washed this morning; length will be down all day.  Longest part of hair is practically waist length.  I need to get an official measurement soon, but may wait until September 1.

During a recent conversation following a post I made about a hair dream, my eyes have been opened to the fact that I am under stress.  I know that sounds odd; as if I hadn't known I was under stress.  Well, I really didn't!   Smiley  I googled the word stress and after reading several articles feel I should clarify my current situation.

Yes, I have several stressors happening in my life.  Some of these stressors have been ongoing for a few years.  Some will get resolved and disappear.  Some will not.  But, honestly, I do not feel stressed even with these stressors hanging over me.  It's not that I'm hiding my head in the sand, hoping they'll go away on their own.  It's simply a matter of knowing that, one way or another, these situations will get resolved.  --They always do.  You see, I've learned over the years not to worry about things over which I have no control.  Stressing and fretting over that which we have no control only eats up precious time and energy.  I prefer to focus on the positive aspect of life (whenever possible).   Cool

Not to think or say any of your stresses are small or not important but, isn't the say,"don't stress over the small stuff" oh so true in certain situations?

Hair
No-wash day; length is braided.  Layers   Tongue  Two and a half years ago, when I first joined LL, my hair was super short.  Of course, to achieve the sassy look of the cut, my stylist had to incorporate some layers.  I've always had a sort of unspoken agreement with my layers; I would ignore them if they behaved themselves, until I reached waist length.  Well, my longest strands have pretty much reached waist length.  And I've been thinking of cutting my hair to a length where all of the layers would be gone.  Now, this would involve a loss of...oh, at least 2, maybe 3 inches.   Shocked  A major cut, I know.  But at least my tresses would be one length.  Cutting that much hair, though...*cringe*  --Would put me back up above BSL again.  I know...It's just hair, and it does grow back.  I do want the layers gone from my hair, so really it's only a question of doing it now or waiting until after December.   Smiley  Opinions are most welcome.   Cool

My "baby" is coming home today!  *boogies around the room*  Feel free to dance amongst yourselves   Grin  She's considering taking an 8-month course to become a pharmacy tech.  oooOOOooo!  That would be a good profession, eh?   Smiley  Nothing definite yet, so I won't hold my breath.  I'm very proud of her, though, for all she's accomplishing this year.

Amen to that, sistah!  *hugs*  Listen, there's no such thing as a stress-free life; it simply doesn't exist.  So our well being (physical AND mental) depends upon how we deal with those problems.

Hair
I trimmed my own tresses this weekend.   Shocked
I wet my hair during my shower (but did not wash it), left on the towel, got dressed and went outside (didn't want a mess in the bathroom).  I bent over, combed my hair out (upside down) and proceeded to snip off about an inch to an inch and a half, just straight across.  Of course, straight across when one is upside down translates into layers once one returns to right side up!   Roll Eyes  Obviously, I didn't think about that consequence.  But, you know, I already had layers in my hair from the original short cut in 2004.  My length is still in a soft "V" shape, and the layers seem intentional--and they look fine, if I do say so myself.
My shortest layer, my front (bangs, if you will), is 13 inches long; the longest point (the bottom of the V), is 31 inches long.  For a while I considered having my daughter cut the entire length even with the 13 inch mark.  In the back of my mind I'm still considering that move.  It's doubtful, however, to happen because...well, I really love my long hair.  It's taken me 2 1/2 years to achieve waist length.  I'm not sure I'm ready to start all over again.  --At least not for a while.   Cool

Hair
I've been using Pantene now for...how long?  (searches back thru journal)  Let's see...27th of July means almost 4 weeks.  One negative attribute I've been able to detect is that my hair seems to get oilier quicker.  While using TreSemme I was able to go three, sometimes four, days without washing.  Granted, I had to wear it up (either in a bun or a ponytail), but it still looked decent.  The bottom line is that Pantene Brunette Expressions seems to be an all right product; but I don't believe it to be anything special.  The TreSemme has a livlier, slightly stronger, better smell.  So in the end, the Pantene is fine, however I may just end up returning to TreSemme.  I haven't compared them pricewise, and that's usually a big tie breaker for me.   Smiley

I'm in a really good mood today, and for no good reason.  I love days like today...I like the skin I'm in, I feel like I look good, I feel emotionally strong, and not even the hot temperatures of August can get me down.   Cheesy

Hair
Eh...*shrug*
I wish I had kept my grubby paws off and NOT trimmed my hair.
Note to self:  NEVER trim your own hair again
But oh well...it's only hair and it'll grow back.

The left front strap on my garter belt will NOT stay fastened.  I've tried lengthening the strap, shortening the strap, different positions on the stocking--no luck.  The right strap often comes unfastened, too, but not as much as the left one.  Thank god there are two more straps on either side to hold up the stocking, or I'd be in trouble.  It's annoying enough as it is, because I know that darn strap has come loose and it makes my OCD kick in.   Angry  I guess I'll have to try squeezing together the hook juuuust a smidge.  Now I know why some women give up on wearing skirts and dresses.

Not to be funny or sarcastic, but there are thigh highs with elastic grip at the top that will not cut off your circulation!

Well, it's not so much that the thigh highs cut off circulation.  The elastic wreaks havoc on my skin.  The day after wearing thigh highs, I suffer red welps.   Sad  A little corn starch patted on the site pre stocking helps.  But then it's a game of too much or too little.  Too little and the welps appear; too much and the stockings won't stay up!   Shocked  So the next step in the Great Garter Belt Adventure is to use pliers to GENTLY squeeze that holder together just a smidge.  If that doesn't work, then my next alternative is crotchless pantyhose.  I don't know why I didn't think of those before now.  I mean, the reason for avoiding regular pantyhose is their single-piece design holds in heat and moisture which is bad for the nether regions (ahem).  But if there's no crotch in the pantyhose, then problem solved, eh?  Jeepers, I never thought I'd be talking about crotchless pantyhose online!!!  LOL   Grin

No, it'll take pliers since the clip is pretty heavy duty.   Smiley Maybe I should have hubby do the adjustment; he's better at the "smidge" stuff than I.   Grin

Hair
Cutting my hair to one (shorter) length is still heavy on my mind.  The shorter layers are annoying, as it's like having to start over again.  They're too short now to fit into clips and buns.   Angry  And worst of all, it's my own bleeping fault.  To repeat myself, the layers don't look bad; when my length is down, they're unnoticeable.  But I know they exist and it's starting to drive me bonkers.  I must either be patient and wait for the shorties to regain their length, which will take at least another year.  Or I can cut the major part of my length to better match the shorties.  *faint*   Tongue  Crap.

Hair
Wash day; length is down.  Still using Pantene's Brilliant Brunette s+c.  I'll use it up and then decide where to go from there.  I figure I've got about another 3 weeks of product left.

Closing the width of the garter belt's front hooks juuust a smidge seems to be working!  I haven't had a "slip" all morning.   Smiley

Tomorrow brings a full moon; I include this from the Farmers Almanac:
• Full Sturgeon Moon - August The fishing tribes are given credit for the naming of this Moon, since sturgeon, a large fish of the Great Lakes and other major bodies of water, were most readily caught during this month. A few tribes knew it as the Full Red Moon because, as the Moon rises, it appears reddish through any sultry haze. It was also called the Green Corn Moon or Grain Moon.

Next Monday brings us to Labor Day weekend.  I think I'll take Tuesday off as vacation, which will give me a 4-day weekend...yeah, that sounds good.  Smiley

Not much going on right now.  I'm waiting on consistently cool weather so I can feel human again.   Grin  I'm going to order some bulbs for Fall planting, or at least I'd like to.  *shrug*  Once again it comes down to money.

Hair
Second day hair; held in a bun by the octopus clip.  The shorter layers are difficult to confine anymore, but I manage as best I can.  I'm still considering cutting the length shorter and basically restarting the growing process.  I'll abide by the two-week-rule, though, and find out how I feel then.

I'm going to restart my walking program TONIGHT.  I've printed off a simple walking chart where I can mark the distance walked, speed, and other items.  I usually have better luck with these self challenges if I keep a written record.

I seem to have fixed the garter belt problem, as I didn't have one slipped stocking all day yesterday.   Wink  Yay-rah for me!
