I'll throw in a comment about salads.  Iceberg lettuce has almost NO nutritional value - it is primarily water with a little fiber.  If you are eating a lot of salads make sure that you are getting a variety of greens.

Friday 05 October 2007
Hair: No-wash day; hair is up in a high ponytail.  I still can't decide how to wear my hair tomorrow for the family reunion.  I guess I'll wash it and leave it down so the kinfolk can see how long it is.

Other:And yes, the family reunion is tomorrow.   Tongue  C'mon, Trish, you're a good actress--you can do this!   Smile and dazzle, girl, smile and dazzle!  Cool
I do not know if my sister and her husband are in town yet.  I haven't heard a word from her.  Figures.   Angry  But my "baby" should be home early this afternoon, and her arrival outshines any turmoil that may try to rear it's fugly head.   Smiley  I'll relate the gory details on Monday.  Later.

Monday 8 October 2007
Hair:  No-wash today.  I washed on Saturday morning for the family reunion and left the hair down.  Mine was definitely among the longest of hair at the reunion, possibly even THE longest (of any age group).   Cool  I saw plenty of "bad" hair in that crowd (including my own sister's)--bad dye jobs, damaged ends, too much product, blow-fried, bobbed, neglected...argh.   Shocked  I do not believe long hair is suitable for everyone.  But, for heaven's sake, take good care of the hair you have, no matter the length.

Other:  As to the family reunion on Saturday, I admit freely and honestly that I had a good time.  *I* had a good time at a family reunion...  Roll Eyes  It blew my mind!  I actually wouldn't have minded staying longer than the 2 1/2 hours we were there, but we had thngs to accomplish.  I don't know exactly what was different this time that resulted in me having a good time...the planets aligned...I felt good and I knew I looked good.  Maybe it's simply a result of growing older and wiser, and finally finally feeling confident in my own skin.   Cool

Amen, Trish.

Glad to hear that you had a good time at the reunion. I knew it couldn't be all bad.  Wink

Hair:Wash day!  Still trying to use up the Pantene Brunette Expressions s+c.  The next time I wash, which will be...*shrug*, I need to do a vinegar rinse.

Other: My sister and her husband left town sometime early yesterday morning.  At least she was thoughtful enough to telephone and report they'd made it home safely.  We didn't even see her husband the entire time they were in town.  According to my sister, he was helping a friend.  Ooooooooookay.  Whatever.  The bad part is none of us was disappointed at not seeing this man.  I didn't get to spend a whole lot of time with my sister, but that's not necessarily a bad thing...I love my sister, but a little of her goes a LONG way.   Shocked

My daughter left last evening.  Every time she gets ready to depart after being here for a visit, I just want to hold her and never let her go.   Undecided  Ugh.  *sigh*  Oh well...such is the burden of long distance motherhood.   Smiley

You were in my thoughts on Saturday, I'm so glad you had a good time. Smiley

That must have been a really good feeling! Cheesy

Thanks for the info on the carbs.  I still haven't checked out the Atkins site but I will soon.  I eat lots of vegetables and salads (Yes Bikerbraid, leafy green ones, preferably spinach Wink)  The only thing is I like to eat lots of pastas in creamy sauces and potatoes and things like that, to feel that I'm eating something substantial.  Do you ever feel that way?  I like tofu as a meat substitution but I really need to find some recipes.

The first couple of weeks of low carb are the worst.  This is when your body is basically detoxing from the sugars and starches.  Your transition is compounded with being a vegetarian.  It's just going to take some time for everything to fall into place because your body is used to the heavy carby starchy things (pasta, potatoes, sugar).  Tofu sounds like a good alternative for your lifestyle.  Here are some websites I found by doing a search for "low carb vegetarian".  Hope they help.   Smiley

Hair:Washed this morning with TreSemme s+c.  After I got to the office and my hair finished drying, I threw it up in a messy bun.

Other:I haven't posted in a while because I've been writing.  Writing and revising, writing and revising.  I don't know if I'll ever become a published author, but writing makes me feel so alive.

I for one, would like to say that I'd love to read some of the things you've written. If you ever want a  (completely untrained) editor, proofreader, or simply... an avid audience... let me know!  *hopes*

I would like to mention the story of Alexandra Erin, an author I am a major fan of... All of her (so far released) writing is done online...  as of Jan. 1, she plans to quit her job and live full time as an author, just off donations from fans of her stories. She did a donation drive to collect 3000$ (enough to live for at least a few months, I gather) and reached the goal within a month... And people still keep giving. And the only publishing she's had, is self-releasing the first two 'books' of a webstory.

Just a bit of encouragement... You can be a famous author without ever being published! (I'd still love to read your work, btw)

Another writer!  The best thing a budding writer/author can do is to share and get feedback.  Feel free to share your writings here - we'd love to read what you have.  Cheesy  We have several authors here.  Sir Rat (rodent) can probably give you some suggestions as well - he has written a couple of novels that are posted online.  Good luck!
