Tuesday 20 November 2007

Hair:No-wash day.  Hair is up in a bun.  I'll probably wash tomorrow just for the hey of it.

Other:I got my Secret Santa assignment yesterday--YAY!   Smiley  I can't wait to get started.
One and a half more days of womaning the front desk for our secretary.  I'll be so happy to return to my little office.  One coworker has been monopolizing my time for hours today.  This morning he talked for a good hour and when he returned from lunch he talked for at least an hour and a half.  He won't shut up!!   Angry  He's a nice guy, but for the love of Mike, SHUT UP ALREADY!  It would be different if the topics were interesting, but they're not.  Now I know why our secretary is half crazed by the end of each day.
As usual, tomorrow the university will dismiss all "non-essential" personnel early.  It makes the president look good and there would be a riot of biblical proportions if we didn't dismiss early.   Smiley  Yours Truly will be staying behind, as I volunteered to do, until my boss shoos me outta here.

Hair:Broke routine with a shampoo + condition this morning.  Haven't decided how I'm going to wear my hair tomorrow.  It's funny...the decision used to be what clothes I would wear.  Now it's which hairstyle.   Smiley  Priorities change, as they should, over time.  Of course the smart thing for tomorrow would be to wear the hair up and out of the way, since we'll be busy cooking, etc.  I'm thinking a segmented ponytail.

Other:Last day of womaning the front desk--I did it!   Smiley  To be honest, I wasn't certain I could handle 6 days in The Chair.  Thank you, God, for keeping things quiet.  Well, tomorrow is Thanksgiving, a day of feasting and celebration.  I'm thankful for a lot of things, too many to list here.  I will mention a few, though...first on the list comes my health.  I'm tremendously thankful for being given a second chance at life.  It could so easily have gone the other way...I'm thankful for my family and friends (not the least of which are my LL family--because I *do* consider all of you family).  I'm thankful that I live in a country that allows me to speak my mind and pursue just about any dream I can think up.  What are you thankful for?   Cool
Blessings to you all.

((((((((((Trisha))))))))))))))
You're an inspiration to me. Just this morning, I was having trouble coming up with things to be thankful for, but I'm definitely thankful that you're here with us. Cancer has claimed soooo many people that I've loved...but not you. I am grateful for that.  Kiss

Hope that you, your family and your hair have a great Thanksgiving.  Wink

*hugs*  Definately something to be thankful for. The gift of life...

I'm definately thankful to be alive, because even when things aren't going well, I'm learning, growing, maturing... becoming a better person. I'm also thankful to have all you LL people, since you're really the only people I talk to every day(except those I share a house with)... I think you ladies and lords are keeping me sane. I'd go on, but it'd take a while, so... Happy thanksgiving, Trisha... Happy thanksgiving, everybody else too.

Monday 26 November 2007

Hair:No-wash day.  Tried a new style this morning and I'm really loving it.  I  braided my hair in two plaits on either side of my head, right behind my ears, securing the ends with colorful bands.  Then I twisted the two braids together into a bun of sorts, fixing it into place with my "french bun clip"  http://www.vermontcountrystore.com/shopping/product/detailmain.jsp?itemID=32424&...
This is one of those times when I wish I had a digital camera, so I could show all of you what it looks like.  Ah well.  There are far more important things in life than digital cameras.   Wink

Other:  Well, Thanksgiving is over and all I can say is...thank God.  And thank God it only comes once a year.  Whew.  Now onward to Christmas...   Tongue  I hate how commercial Christmas has become, and I refuse, REFUSE to play a part in *that* side of the holiday.  It's not about money, people--think about it.
*deep breath*
Better now, thanks.   Smiley
Over the weekend, I bought 3 small items for my Secret Santa.  I'll get the other items this week and get it shipped out to....ah-ah-ah!  You thought I was going to spill the beans, didn't you?!   Cool

I hear ya Trisha, this time of year which is supposed to be joyous, can often times be so stressful. I don't think many of us would be able to go through the holiday season more than once a year. Grin

I love the bun clip.  I purchased a top from the Vermont Country Store, but I had no idea they had hair accessories.  I bet your bun was really nice! Cheesy

Tuesday 27 November 2007

Hair:No wash day.  Length is down, with sides held back with pink barettes.  I'm going to try waiting until Thursday or Friday before washing again.

Other:My daughter left for Memphis yesterday evening, so the house is once again quiet.  At least she remembered this time to call when she arrived, to let her old mother know she arrived safely.  The last visit, she forgot to call and it was two days before I heard from her.   Grin  Oh, that whacky kid of mine!
It was very cold and foggy this morning as I drove to work.  At one point during the drive the fog was so bad that I had to drop my speed down to 35 mph (on a state highway) because I could barely see 10 feet in front of me.   Shocked  Luckily no deer ran out in front of me...that would have been catastrophic.
14 more days until my vacation starts!   Smiley

Wednesday 28 November 2007

Hair:  No wash day; hair is in a segmented ponytail.  The top is looking pretty greasy but I'll decide tomorrow morning whether or not to wash.  Still braiding at night and, so far, the colder temperatures are not affecting me.

Other:  Did I tell y'all about the vintage Argus camera my father in law gave me?  I don't think I did...well, back in the winter of 1958 my father in law was stationed temporarily in Goose Bay, at the air base in Labrador (Canada) and he bought an Argus 35mm C3 Rangefinder.  He used it for years and eventually just quit using it.  He and my mother in law were doing some cleaning earlier this year and the Argus was discovered.  He presented it to me (he lurves me, can ya tell?!) and I put it in my closet for safe keeping.  Just a few weeks ago I remembered I had it (duh), and printed from the internet a super-complete instruction manual.  A coworker, a camera buff, found out I have the Argus and gave me 4 rolls of 35mm film to "blow".  She wasn't going to use the film because to her it's old (she got it last year for Christmas), but to us average everyday photogs the film is still very usable.  So, with the help of the manual, I taught myself how to load this thing and how to shoot pictures.  It's just tremendously cool using this old Argus--very satisfying.  I've shot about 2/3 of the current roll, just scenery mostly, and need to finish it up so I can have the film developed.  I'm dying to know if I'm shooting correctly and/or if the camera is still in top notch condition.

Aren't vintage cameras cool? The first one I used as a photo student was an old '70's (I think) Canon...I like that old *clack!* sound that they make when the shutter closes.  Cool

Friday 30 November 2007

Hair:I washed last Sunday, the 25th, and again this morning.  I probably could have avoided washing this morning by wearing a ponytail or a bun, but the top part of my hair was icky greasy.  So today it's clean and hanging down.  Yesterday I again wore the "braid bun", as I'm calling it, and I'm really loving that style.

Other:After today I have 10 more working days until my Christmas vacation.  EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!     Cheesy   Cheesy   Cheesy   Ahem...Okay, I'm calm again.    I can't believe tomorrow is the first day of December.  Where the heck did the rest of the year go?!   Huh
The cold air and dry heat combination is taking its toll on my skin, and I'm having to slather on lotion or aloe gel every time I think about it.  Of course, as we age our bodies tend to get drier by the year anyway, so that's not helping.
Plans for the weekend include a little grocery shopping, getting together the rest of the package for my secret santa, laundry, and as much R&R as I can get away with.  Oh, that reminds me...do I have a box in which to ship the goodies to my SS?  Hmm....
Y'all have a good one!   Smiley
