I agree with Angel, unfortunately Christmas can be stressful.  Hopefully, they're getting along better now that it's over.

I know exaclty what you mean about the guilt complex thing as I have that myself.  I also tend to be somewhat of an emotional vampire so when people are tense and argue around me it isn't easy.  The best thing would be learning to separate yourself from those situations.  Most of the things we feel guilty about aren't our faults nor do they have anything at all to do with us.

I've never heard of the term spritual gift, but I love the idea of it.

Anyway, I hope everything has calmed down and that all is well. Smiley

The term "spiritual gift" seems to go over better than "psychic ability"... since that tends to give the mental image of fluff bunny "teen witch" types, or even worse, 1-800-psychic types. *rolls eyes* Empath V.S. emotional vampire... one leaves the impression of 'drained of all that feels' and one leaves the impression of 'feels what others do as if it were her own'... Although I've known a couple of the vampirish types. Not fun to be around, really, especially when you need to feel to write good lyrics. (very useful when one is depressed, though, oddly)

They are getting along somewhat better, partially due to the fact that I pretty much went, "look. if you two can't fix this crap, I'm going to go somewhere where I don't have to listen to your stupidity."

Not to mention, now if they start up again, I've got a new CD(the first CD I've bought in over a year, and well worth it), so me and my CD player will just go sit somewhere and ignore  them. The emotions invoked through the music tend to drown out any other perceptions I get... which does, of course, tend to make depressing music rather dangerous when I'm in an already low mood. *shrugs* it can't be all roses, right?

Also, I've noticed something lately. I look like a bleepin' Vulcan. Well, not the pointy features, but I've darn well got the eyebrows. This is normal K face... no raised eyebrows, no angryface... Just natural. ... I even do the whole 'single raised eyebrow' thing... Perhaps my name ought to be 'Kiraela Spocksdaughter'?

Romulans... weren't they like, vulcans that allowed themself emotions? *spockbrows*  I only watched a little of the original star trek, well, any star trek at all really, and that was mostly Paul's fault.

glad i can helpfully chime in here. i vote for vulcan eyebrows. romulans were evil vulcans.

k-i've been off the boards a little with the holidays here but i'm back. and i FINALLY get to continue where i left off in book four of the wheel of time! since i started a new job in the fall i've had tons of required reading to do for that, and also got sidetracked with some shorter books but i'm back now and right in the middle where perrin goes back to the two rivers to try to chase out the trollocs! perrin is one of my favorite characters thus far.

Wrong, wrong, wrong!
But rather than Star Trek anyone to death, I'll just put up this link so the *ahem* uninformed can read for themselves. Romulans are now allies to the Federation, btw.
I said Romulan because they usually have dark hair like our Kiraela. Vulcans can be any colour. /end Trekkie geek rant  Roll Eyes

AAAnyway, what CD did you get?

My new CD: Mend Your Misery, by a (relatively) small band from somewhere near Los Angeles called Dommin...

I found them on myspace, well, actually, they friend requested me. Normally, I listen to a band's songs at least two or three times before deciding if I want them linked to me.Yes, I'm something of a music snob. If I don't like it, I won't add it. tis simple. Anyway, though. I listened to the first track, My Heart, Your Hands... And it was like... instant addiction.  I have never, in all the time I've been on myspace, modified my profile layout for a band. Not even when it could have won me a chance to meet Evanescence. But now it proudly displays the dommin logo.  Undecided betraying former ideals? or simply advertising a band I adore? *shrugs* maybe both.

Anyway, though. It's sort of rock/metal meets 80's goth, meets... IDK what. extract of awesome, maybe.  And the front man,Kristofer Dommin, is a pretty nice guy. I've exchanged messages with him a few times.

Hee. No, I'm not slightly obsessed with the music... *shakes head* Grin

Mainly, though.. I have a thing for deep voices... Basically I want my men to sound like men, rather than squeaky 12 year olds. Which is, of course, why me and the radio don't get along well much anymore. And Kris... well... His voice has been compared to Jim Morrison, Danzig, and Elvis... and frankly, at least in my opinion, he's as good or better than any of the three(especially elvis... ew.)

Seriously, though.. before I make this any more of a giant Dommin lovefest, allow me to say this one last thing. www.Myspace.com/dommin

Well, given that Romulans are pretty much hyperactive emotional Vulcans with a penchant for destruction....  Wink Perhaps Angel is right, at that.

Since you like men with deep voices, are you a fan of Type O Negative?  I don't think you can get any deeper than his voice Roll Eyes

Scott Stapp (formerly from Creed) has a deep voice too.

I know there are a few others I am forgetting right at this moment.

I was never impressed with Creed, but Scott's voice was pretty darn good. I have been meaning to look up Type O Negative... I've never heard them but I have heard they're pretty good. Actually... Dommin's first ever live show was opening for Type O... That seems like a show I would have loved seeing, LOL.

Another band I really like is Diary Of Dreams... It's best described as haunting.

As a random rant... It frustrates me that it seems no one IRL(or otherwise, probably) takes me or my creation of music seriously.... I mean... I'm sitting there with the bigass headphones on, Soundforge is open and a track is playing... and I'm making notes as to what I need to do differently... and Paul is like, 'could you go get this for me' or ' could you do this'... it's like, can't he even wait until the playback is over? And it's not like he doesn't know what soundforge looks like... he was the one who gave me my copy. GRR. I don't dare record while he's in the house, *rolls eyes*. Then again, I can't record much of anything before 11-12 at night... Given that my recording area consists of a corner of my bedroom, and has NO soundproofing(and a rather drafty door right next to the computer) any traffic sounds will be picked up. Clearly.  *Grumble*mutter*grumble* One day, I'll have a soundproofed studio. and the ability to put it to good use, LOL. I'm still figuring things out as I go.

/ me has delusions of adequacy.

Ahh, ok. I totally see your comparison to Elvis there. Not the least bit goth, though, I hate to tell ya. lol

I also think that you might like Type O...but they are definitely not a Gen Y band. Most of their audience is at least your big sis' age. hehe  Wink

A couple of the tracks on the CD are gothy. The myspace isn't quite so much.

I looked up Type O's Myspace... Pretty ''''ing  cool. I tend to not like music made by my generation.. it all has a same... 'radio' ish quality.  IDK. basically it all sounds like all the other crappy stuff they play on the radio. And most of it is whiny girly-boy music anyway.  *pleh**sticks out tongue and does yucky face*.
