Most German electronic/industrial bands have singers with deep voices. It's kind of a staple in that genre.

You know, I was thinking of something...

waay back in august, I remember posting to the 'where do you consider hair really long' thread. Kiraela wrote on Aug 18th, 2007 at 12:50am:
I don't know, maybe it's just me but I consider hip length to be getting really long... waist is long, no doubt, but I've seen so many people with waist length hair that it's not quite as remarkable. Still quite frequently gorgeous, though.

Waist just didn't seem long on me. I've seen plenty of waist length. Hip, to me, was Long.

And you want to know something funny... My hair is touching the tops of my hips now. It's where I'd consider to be hip length. And you know what?

I was right.
It finally feels LONG. Oh joyous, blessed day!

Way to go, little sis.  Wink  It is a joyous thing when your hair finally starts to feel long again. I can't believe you're at hip length already!

well, I've been sick lately, so not online much. I'm starting to feel better, which is wonderful.

Some of our friends have started DJing a goth/industrial night(friday nights, woo!) at a BR club, so we went to that last night.  We met up with pretty much all of Paul's friends from the City.

I wore a black long sleeved top, black long skirt, and work boots.  Roll Eyes seeing some of the girls there... I felt decidely over dressed (but far classier)... LOL. Something about being able to see a woman's underwear from below her 'dress'... eww.

There were several girls with nearly waist length hair... It was almost a shock to realize that not only was mine longer, it was in most cases, far healthier. When your hair is bleached platinum blonde, and your (dark) roots are showing... I almost cringed. We had a good time, anyway, and I met Paul's Ex-Wife. At first, she was rather intimidating, but then we started talking. She's a pretty cool lady.  I'm pretty sure I got hit on by a... woman of ill repute... , though, which was... odd. *shakes head* another longhair, though.

Also, I found out that the cute bartender(who is not, in fact, gay as I previously thought  Shocked ) has a serious thing for women with Long Dark Hair. *sigh* Too bad I'm a fan of monogamy, LOL. Also found out he's the new drummer for a friend's band,Nadjia. Kickass music.  Apparently the new stuff isn't much like the old, which is on the myspace. I've not been blessed enough to hear it, yet, although they did play Ynch at the club last night (not actually a Nadjia track, but Mark did the vocals for a song by the zero order, and he's posted it on the Nadjia myspace too)

All in all, I'm learning that Baton Rouge has a quite thriving industrial/dark music scene. I'm hoping we can go out and do that more often, maybe even make it a weekly or bi weekly gathering. Well, a couple of them have to be there anyway because they're the DJs, but... you know what I mean.

Ooh, and I almost worked up the nerve to go out and dance. Almost.  Roll Eyes This being me, I instead, sort of danced in place, hiding next to a wall. Maybe one day... I think if I got over my self confidence issues, a lot of that sort of thing would change. That's my goal for 2008. Grow a dang spine. (perhaps, trade in my excess weight for a spine. I wonder what the going price on that sort of thing is, LOL.)

Awesome hair stories: I was talking to Paul last night about hair, and how I was considering trying to grow to Knee, and he said "I think right here(points to the bottom of my butt) would be perfect on you." He then went on to say that anything much past that is getting difficult to take care of, which is my concern too, but he said if that's where I want to grow to, he'll help out with combing and braiding if I need it.  Godess, I love that man. Smiley

Then again, he's always had a thing for long haired ladies (and playing with their hair, of course). I guess I just got really lucky, in him. His ex wife, while they were married, had past waist hair(it's now about halfway between BSL and waist, and honestly, could use a trim to thicken the ends, but... that's beside the point I guess) (she was also very much into the medieval style clothing, also much like me. It's no wonder that the one time we met, we got along great) ... He also was friends with (and almost dated) a girl with slightly past classic hair, and he used to love combing it for her. I should start getting him to do that for me... It's very relaxing. I am, however, going to have to re-train him in braiding, he hasn't done it in several years.

It's funny, though, some of the stories he's told me about Lydia, the girl with the classic length hair... She always wore it down. Always... so one day he was supposed to be meeting her at a coffee shop, and didn't see her anywhere. He noticed a friend of his, J, and asked him if he'd seen Lydia.  J coughed and pointed to the girl sitting across from him. It turns out, Lydia had had her hair up and Paul didn't recognize her right off! Also, they could always tell when Lydia was going to trim her hair, a few weeks before she did it. She'd bleach the last three inches and dye them with manic panic in some bright color, usually pink or something similar... when the dye started fading, she'd have the hair trimmed to 1/4 inch above the bleach damage. I wish I could have met her, but she finished college and moved away a few years ago.

other hair news: I've decided something that might dissapoint Angel Spun, Maggie, and Trisha... I don't like Pantene shampoos. They usually leave my scalp feeling gunky no matter how much I rinse, and I get weird flakes that aren't quite dandruff, but IDK what they are... I still absolutely adore the Ice Shine conditioner though... That shall remain the mainstay of my routine. I've switched to a shampoo I got for a dollar at the Dollar Tree, I think it's april bath and shower's citrusey stuff. it leaves my scalp happy, my hair feeling cleaner than usual, and removes the cones from the last conditioning so that there's not too much build up on my strands.

Clothing: I've been working on a dress design lately, inspired by medieval styles but slightly modernized... I've finally got it drawn out and I just bought material to make it today. I'm not entirely sure how much I'll need, so I bought 11 yards of 1$ fabric. It's a pretty olivey-gray color, and this way it wasn't expensive, but I've got enough to allow for screwing up... after all, I don't know if this will actually work or not. And if I don't mess up, and it does, indeed work out on the first try, I can make myself a couple of new skirts too, since this fabric is incredibly soft and drapey.

I'm so looking forward to Friday night... a friend of ours' band is playing in New Orleans, and we're going to the show. Smiley I hope I'm the longest haired girl there again. That was a surprising, but somehow nice feeling.  I even bought Paul and myself each a new pair of jeans to wear. I know, me in pants, *gasp!* but I want to wear the T-shirt Riley(the singer) gave me to support the band, and I don't want to look silly in a flowey skirt and tee shirt... so I own a pair of pants again! They were a stroke of luck, too. The first pair I tryed on fit just about perfectly. of course, a few years ago I would have said they wre way too loose, but my taste in clothing has changed... I like things more loose. The only problem is, they were Petite... and I still need to hem them. Curse my shortness.  Also, Mark, of Nadjia, is giving Paul and I discounts on band Tees (just what he had to pay to get them made). Sometimes, it's awesome to know the guys behind the scenes, LOL.

Anyway, I've had a migraine since tuesday night, and it seems to be coming back, so I am going back to bed. I love you guys and gals... Have fun with whatever you're doing this weekend (I know I will)

Thanks Smiley When he wants to be, he can be the sweetest man in the world.

And as for the migraine: I woke up this morning, and it STILL HURT. However, a Claritin, a decongestant, two tylenol and a headache pill later, I'm up and moving, finally. Yesterday was much worse, so I think it's finally fading. WE didn't go to sleep until almost 7 yesterday morning, so we didn't get up until around 4... It took me 4.5 hours to get moving enough to go grocery shopping, which is why we ended up at walmart rather than one of our locally owned stores. They ALL close at 8. If you're there at 8:01? Tough cookies. You can starve for a night.   I slept with my hair down and loose last night.. it's surprisingly enough, rather happy with me this morning. I need to do another S&D or three, though. Having it braided while I've been headachey, tossing and turning to find a way to sleep that both avoids the light, and doesn't put pressure on my jaw or cheekbones(which makes the headache worse).... I've got tons of new splits. Looking in the mirror today, though, I realized that my virgin hair is finally down to the tops of my shoulders! It still looks odd in buns, though... dark head hair and a noticeably, decidely lighter bun... I'm almost afraid someone will think it's fake hair and try to grab it or something. I just... don't want strangers hands all up in my hair... I don't know where they've been!

Well, I'm off to get to work on this new dress, just wanted to pop in for a sec.

I've been having a migraine, too, since Tuesday.  I take a homeopathic tablet called Calms Forte-it reduces anxiety and helps you to sleep.  I use a travel pillow when my head hurts, the U shape keeps my neck supported without pressure on the cheeks or jaw.  Sometimes its the only way I can get any sleep.

I got lucky, this morning right before I had to teach class it got better.  Might of had something to do with the Starbucks latte I had.  Sometimes caffiene does the trick for me.

Feel better!!!

That's business, hon. Those employees want to finish up and go home just as much as anyone else.

Sorry about the migraine. I used to get them in my early 20's when I was stressing a TON and sleeping next to never.  Sad  Hope things clear up for you soon.

Want to know a freakish little secret, sis? There are some Pantene shampoos that Maggie & I can't use either. Her hair doesn't like Ice Shine shampoo - but she's just fine with the Classic Clean 2-in-1.
I am just the opposite: I can't use any of Pantene's opaque shampoos or 2-in-1's. They coat the roots of my hair with grease and make it look/feel as though I've not washed it for a week.  Tongue  And the heavier the conditioning level, the worse it is. So I only use clear Pantene shampoos like Ice Shine, Sheer Volume, Full & Thick and Purity. They are gentler than the opaque shampoos anyway, surprisingly enough.

Right now, however, I'm hooked on Pantene Restoratives and their shampoos rock. I haven't had the "greasy roots" problem with them.

But we still love ya no matter what you use. Like Trish said, it's your hair and it's important to use whatever works for it.  Wink

Well, I definately haven't updated this thing in a while... I"ve just not been in the mood lately. Sorry. I've got to catch up on all your journals, so bear with me if I'm seriously out of touch for a bit.

My parents came and went.... we had a nice visit. They brought me down the big harp... now I've just got to get new strings before I can play it. Irony, thou adorest me. I've wanted a harp all my life. I finally have one... and can't play it.  Roll Eyes Such is life though.

I've had a song stuck in my head since the middle of january... it's driving me nuts. It'd be okay if I could at least get a CD with it on it... but It's not even ON a CD yet, the final mix isn't even done, so I can't even get Mark to email me an MP3 of it. Mark (of Nadjia) doesn't want to release any of the live versions or scratch mixes... So I have no way to relieve the repeat. I can't wait until I can get a copy of it. It's a darn good song. Darn's not quite strong enough, actually, but... well. This's a public journal.

It seems that the Long Hair Community is down.. and has been for a few weeks. Anybody know what's up with that? Or am I the only one having problems?

Hair is currently 7 days without washing... I'm going to do that tonight, I can't stand it anymore. I'll measure then. I've been sleeping with it down lately... I've found that I end up with less breakage, and oddly, fewer tangles than when I keep it braided. I've actually considered cutting back to where the dye ends, and natural hair begins... but I know that I couldn't handle the shock of going back to shoulder length, so I'll baby it a while longer. Eventually, I'm going to have to cut it off. I'd like to get to tailbone and start maintaining there.. so perhaps a few more months without scissors. It seems to be growing faster lately, so maybe not that much longer at all, actually.

Paul's friend Mike was visiting a few days ago, when he left to go put in an application at a local fast food joint. He was on his way back, turning onto the street beside our house, actually, (we're at a corner) when he was slammed into by a guy on a motorcycle. The chap on the bike went flying, probably about 50 feet from where the bike and car were to where he landed... and he got up and walked himself to the ambulance. lucky, given that he was going roughly 60 or so MPH when he hit. Of course, Mike's car was damaged (something was broken in the fuel system, so it won't start or run) ... and since he lives in Baton Rouge, He was staying with us for a few days, waiting to find out if the bike guy even had insurance. Now... I'm the kind of person who likes her privacy. When I was growing up, I could only handle my best friends spending the night for one, or at most two nights in a row before its' like... please leave. I loveyou ... but go away... Our house has no doors except the bathroom. Not even a bedroom door. Talk about lack of space... Not to mention he spent the first three days whinging about his car.. and the last day whining that nobody had any xanax he could beg, borrow, or steal, so he ended up drinking almost all the alcohol in our house, without permission. He even snuck into paul's dad's side of the house, drank half a bottle of brandy, and then attempted to water it down so nobody'd notice.  He tried to start arguements between me and paul, between paul and his father... between Paul and his business partner AJ... I'm a sweet natured person. Really. I don't have much of a violent streak, and what little there is is buried deep.
When I threaten to stab someone... It's taken an effort to get me that pissed.

He's not allowed back in my house. Ever.

Anyway.

nothing else new, so bye for now!
