Welcome to the land of slimeball roommates, Kiraela.
While it sux to have someone like that around for even a few days, be glad that he didn't stay longer. I've had unfavorable, erm, "guests" stick around for almost a year (most folks here have read about them before you joined). One of them even wrecked my old apartment.

There's nothing good about having someone like that live with you...but at least you've got a story to tell.  Roll Eyes

Glad that you decided to join us again, little sis. Hope the hair is doing well.  Smiley

I'm sorry you had to deal with somebody like that for so long Angel Spun.. :/
And I've got to say, there was ONE good thing about having him here... I appreciate Paul's cat much more... Heh. He' HIV+, and she's notoriously violent (and hates him especially, for some reason)  so she can't be let loose while he's in the house. I found myself looking forward to the day I could get attacked by the cat again, since that meant he was gone.

The hair's doing well, thankfully. I've been leaving it down whenever I can... I love the feeling of hair brushing my lower back/bum, and I notice the broken, damaged ends so much more when it's up for long periods of time, which makes me just want to crop it off... so Yeah. Down it stays.

A few days ago, while I was at the grocery store, Paul was teasing me that if he ever got a motorcycle, I'd have to learn to wear my hair like the guy in front of us ( segmented ponytail)... The girl working at the counter asked how long it was getting, since she hadn't seen it down in a few months. I took it out of the braided bun and shook it out, and a couple of people came over to compliment me.   Smiley  As I was getting in the truck after leaving the store, the guy parked next to us said that he loved how it looked, and was trying to convince his wife to grow hers out longer, and that mine may have finished convincing her. I was on cloud nine all night.

Ah yes, a few weeks ago, I went to the Nadjia show in BR a few weeks ago... I got to meet some of Paul's friends that even he hasn't seen in years, including a guy with hair longer than mine... absolutely perfectly taken care of, too. He was like, well, if it makes you feel any better, it hasn't grown in almost 15 years... nevertheless, gorgeous hair.

ah, yes. I just got back from wal-mart (picking up paint for one of paul's stair rails)... I saw a girl with tailbone length, fairy tale ends... and a woman with a long, blonde braid that reached past her hips.  Shocked

That's really all I have to report for today.

Sheesh, it's been a while. Sorry! At least this time I have the excuse of having been down with the flu for just about three weeks, so I've been pretty much sleeping my days and nights away. I still haven't even measured for this month! I probably won't bother since it's so far into it. I need to catch up with you lovely ladies and gentlemen again...

The Pantene has been making my hair sticky feeling lately, so I have switched to a low cone S&C... that seems to have helped the gunky feeling, but my ends are dryer than ever, and I think it's time to chop off an inch or three. I've been tempted to go back to waist, actually. I've even given thought to going all the way back to virgin hair, but that would be too big a shock for my system. My current plan is thus: find somebody I trust (I think I have someone, actually) and have about 3-5" cut off (a big chop, but it needs it desperately) and have the ends dyed to match as closely as possible to the virgin hair.

Actually, my potential scissorlady is a friend of Paul's, who used to work on his previous females' and female friends' hair. Back in those days, there wasn't a one of them whose hair was shorter than waist length, so I think I can trust her not to chop too much.

Other than that, not much to report, really. Designing a skirt pattern, and waiting for a dress pattern to arrive, but really, nothing much else new.

I guess that's for the best, really.

Well, I'm sick again. Sore throat swollen, sometimes a little hard to breathe, headache, etc.... Fun.

Anyway, I've been using the Low cone S&C for about two weeks... it's doing something really odd. The undyed, undamaged hair, and most of the middle section of my hair are shiny, gorgeous, silky, and just absolutely wonderful. The bottom of my hair, where the most dye damage is, is frightfully dry on the first day after washing, but on the second day after a wash, is soft and silky. Not quite as much so as the top section, but a definate change from the day before. On the third day? tis dry and funky again, and the rest of my hair is unpleasant feeling too.

I think I'm going to try making up an oil mister of some sort (All I've got is EVOO and sesame seed oil, so I'll probably go with the evoo with some lavender EO in it.) Has anybody ever used sesame seed oil on your hair? what did it do for you?

I've taken to wearing scarves and bandanas whenever I go outside here at the house, so that I minimize sun damage (and bleaching) to the virgin hair. I'm still not sure on it though, since I'm not sure whether the scarves are doing more damage than the sun would. it tends to frizz up and get rubbed weirdly when I wear my cotton bandana, and my silkesque scarf slips off too easily, and is therefore pretty well useless except when i'm wearing a high bun, which looks, to me at least, rediculous... a weird, almost spherical lump under a dark green, blue, orange and white scarf on the top of my head... no thanks.

what tips do you lovelies have to keep my scarf in place without it sliding everywhere?

I'm thinking of buying or making another scarf, one not so hideously colored. Well, hideous to me.

Still haven't made an appointment with my potential scissor-lady... I'm going to see if this oil mister helps before lopping off inches just when I'm about to reach tailbone! Speaking of which, it seems that I've only about an inch to go, if that, to reach what I consider tailbone (at the bottom of the bone, where the cleft starts).. if I were to consider tailbone where the bone itself seems to start, I'd be there now! well, wet anyway.

That's another thing. For a while, my hair had decided it was bound and determined to become wurly, at the least. It was starting to look more like a 2c than a 2b.

Now, even when I don't comb when wet (I typically comb the conditioner through my hair to make sure it gets everything), don't so much as touch it before tis dry, I'm almost a 1c-2a! I don't know where that's coming from, but I think I actually like it... less tangles for the most part, and it LOOKS longer than it did when wavy. It was doing this even before I started the low cone regimen... which is actually the reason I started it in the first place ( to bring back my wavies)... but I guess the great Mother has decided I need straightish hair for a while, and there's no use fighting that.  What Nature wishes... Nature gets.

Anyway, I'd just like to take the time to mention that tis my kitty Emma's birthday today...
I'd like to add a picture of her when she was a baby, and one taken a few days ago, but I'm having problems with the floppy drive in my non-internet computer... stay tuned for that!

Good to hear from you!  Your wurliness might be from humidity.

Check out the ways of tying a scarf at http://www.tznius.com/cgi-bin/tying.pl .

I hope you're feeling better soon!!!  Kiss

Happy Birthday, Emma.

Emma says thank you Smiley

Actually, it's the LACK of wurliness that's weirding me out. I had just started getting used to being a wavy with some small, loose ringlets... and now I'm a straighty again. I'm not sure if 'tis from the weather (it started going straighter when the temperature got colder) or what...

I love tznius' different ideas! If I had the money, I'd buy myself a couple of their scarves... they've got some new, beautiful things since last time I looked! Thanks for that link, Sakina Smiley

I'm a little dissapointed in Paul, at the moment... He flat out told me that he does not like the idea of me learning to bellydance, "since it's only a step or two above being a stripper". I was like,  Huh Angry when he said that... :/  He doesn't seem to mind the bellydance workout video I have though... Probably mostly because I don't do it when anybody's home, since I fear that I look stupid.

Anyway.

You're welcome!!

Give Paul a great big 'ol hug and tell him he is wrong,
wrong
,
wrong
about bellydancing.  It helps a woman prepare her body for childbirth.   Tongue
In fact, a woman bellydancing was showing her skill and health to any possible future husbands because so many women died in childbirth.  Some women dance completely covered.  Some dance in a dress so only their face, hands and feet show.  He should just get over himself.  You get your shimmy on, Kiraela!!!

Happy one-day-late birthday to Emma!   Cheesy
I agree with Sakina about the belly dancing.  "Get your shimmy on..."  I love that phrase!   Grin

Isn't it cute when men shamelessly broadcast their ignorance? A hug isn't what this guy needs. He'd benefit more from a good smack.

My husband feels the same way about bellydancing...although he doesn't mind that I do it. Roll Eyes

Anyway, I had to explain to him exactly what Sakina had mentioned about it being a way that women used to prepare for child birth.

It makes me so angry that some men (and perhaps some women) look at bellydancing as vulgar or as a dance that's specific purpose is to entice men.  It's such a beautiful art form, but because of the way that some choose to view it, some dancers even refuse to refer to it as bellydance but Middle Eastern Dance.

I too hate it when people think bellydancing is stripping or close to it. Angry    I have no problem with hubby its my Mother- in-law who calls it stripping (like I flipping care what she says!)  I think it ignorance  - just like people think Geisha are prostitutes so do they think bellydancers are there to entice men and god knows what.

I say to them
Read a book and learn something!!!

I love Paul dearly, and usually he's a fairly intelligent, openminded person... but sometimes he's dense as a brick. shrugs* For the most part, I ignore him and go about what I'm doing anyway when it comes down to it. LOL.

Anyway, hair's still been straighter than normal, but I've learned to embrace it. I've started using a mister/spritzer of water, EVOO, and lavender, cypress, and rosemary EOs (a drop or two of each) ... it has a nice, earthy sort of scent, although next time I am going to try it without the rosemary. My hair seems to be quite happy with it though... soft and shinier than it's been in a while.  I might even be able to put off my trim until I get to tailbone.

Which brings me to another point. Either my tailbone's moved (which I doubt) or I overestimated the difference between the ends of my hair, and where I consider tailbone... the longest hairs are already there!!!

Kiraela does a happy dance.
