Sakina & Curlgirl: Thanks, you guys. Kiss It's funny...you never know how common something is until you talk about it.
My cousin is taking prednisone. It will be awhile before her symptoms begin to clear up but she is expected to make a full recovery. Smiley

Hair: Just been giving it what it needs, which has been a lot of cleansing. Not only is it summer, but we're also in the midst of another home remodel. Nothing too severe this time - mostly just painting and moving things around. It's a ton of work but very much needed.

Anyway, with all of the sweat, paint, dust, not getting a shower until late in the day, etc., washing is très important. Style is usually a bun or low ponytail.

A few days ago I had to lash my Tousle Me Softly products as they were indeed eating the back of my neck again. Angry So I've switched to Suave Pro rosemary mint shampoo & Pantene Moisture Renewal conditioner. Light conditioner is still TRESemmé anti-breakage, which I'm luckily running out of. It's not great.

For the time being, I've stopped oiling the ends. It seemed to be contributing to massive tangles in the morning. I've all but decided to go back to serums.

Etc.: If all goes well, my sister and her bf will begin moving out next week. My parents will be turning their room into a guest room. The office will be moved back into what is currently the guest room. The carpets are getting cleaned again in 2 weeks and the stench of dog will be gone just in time for our summer guests.

What I love about remodeling (or even just repainting) is the symbolism. Change. New chapters opening, old ones closed.

In other news, neither of my teams made the World Cup quarters. Oh well. Undecided

Hair: Need to clarify but I might not get to this week. Both today and Sunday I did a WCC with an ACV rinse after washing, which I suppose is close enough. Maybe.

Do not get ACV rinse in your eyes if you can avoid it. ... Just trust me on this one.

Spray conditioner blend was the only leave-in; style du jour was a bun. For some reason that just reminded me that I forgot to pick up a bottle of serum today. D'oh!

Music: Well, I've been invited to join another band. One that seems to have sprung fully formed and armed from the forehead of the current band. It's supposedly much more rock & roll oriented. Could be fun.

No word on recording with my father just yet but it would be a total gas if it happened.

Etc.: Has anyone been to Michaels lately? They have a small selection of early fall items. The glittery crows are most certainly on my list this year. Wink

The living room remodel is finished so tomorrow I'll have time for another manicure. Something 4th of July themed perhaps?

Hair: CWC today with the last of the TRESemmé anti-breakage conditioner. Hallelujah! Now I can go back to using Suave Naturals, which works better as a light conditioner all the way around. This time it will be pomegranate splash.

Leave-ins are the spray conditioner and new serum that I picked up yeterday. Got a bottle of shine spray as well, though I haven't tried it yet. Both are oil and alcohol free. Smiley
    Style is a bun.

Measured in this afternoon at 29.5" - just a half inch away from waist length! Unfortunately the ends have had it so I plan to call my scissor lady today.

Etc.: Possible get together with the band tonight, though it depends on what kind of time my father has. We haven't all played together in awhile and it would be kinda nice to taste the aluminum of the mic screen again. Nom nom nom...

Nails are now complete with a sodding 7 layer manicure. Shocked Only because I messed up and just added more coats instead of starting over. They're shiny black with a good deal of glitter (think fireworks) and could survive an atomic blast. Roll Eyes

It could be the heat but I'm quite tired all of a sudden. Gonna try and take a little cat nap before tonight. Peace.

Nails sound good.  I thought I was OTT with 5 layers because I was low on polish remover and wanted mine done before bed.

Drear: 5 coats isn't bad. 4 is typical for me. Doing your nails right before bed is no bueno though. Undecided

Hair: Yesterday I finally gave in and accepted that Suave Pro was indeed drying my skin and hair out...every bit as badly as Herbal Essences usually does, in fact. *sigh* You never know if you don't try, right?

So...I looked over Pantene's current range for a shampoo that wouldn't destroy my hair over time and eventually settled on the Nature Fusions line.

Curious thing about Pantene: the Restoratives and Beautiful Lengths lines are merging. Huh I'd almost be intrigued enough to try them were it not for the bloody overwhelming amount of pink on the bottles. Superficial, I know, but I have a pathological aversion to pink. Grin

Anyway, at Target yesterday I picked up the Nature Fusions Smooth Vitality S&C as well as the Dry to Moisturized conditioner from the Medium-Thick Solutions range. I plan to combine the conditioners for maximum moisture.

For today the routine will probably be a CWC with all the new products.

Etc.: After watching Meet Me In St. Louis yesterday eve, I went out and planted vinca in the flower bed in the front yard. It took some of the finish off of my wonky 7 layer manicure and I don't really even mind. My nails will be rocking something else before long so there's no point in worrying about it. Roll Eyes

My Pt. Loma relatives are out of town until tomorrow so I've once again been left in charge of their pets. It's down to just 2 cats and 2 dogs now and I don't even have to stay at the house this time so it's easy. Their devil kitten has grown into a big, fat cat and is still a holy terror, which is kind of fun. I adore cats. Wink
The best part of all of it is being paid up front. I totally sense a little shopping spree coming on! Cheesy

And speaking of shopping, I haven't been to Michaels in awhile. Suppose they have even more fall merch in from the last time I checked? Wink

Drear: Oh, I can't stand yellow! Grin Don't blame you.

Hair: CWC. Judgments on the Nature Fusions Smooth Vitality S&C will be withheld until I've used it for a week.

No end treatment today, just spray conditioner blend all over the length. Embarrassed Style is a bun as usual.

Tomorrow's routine should be a WCC + the usual leave-ins. Depending on the time, I might do a flipped style tomorrow.

Still no trim scheduled. I'm trying to get ahold of scissor lady.

Etc.: It's turning out to be a rather busy week. Today was my last day taking care of my relatives' pets, tomorrow I have a job interview and a practice with the new band, then the usual band is getting together on Thursday. Hoping to get a trim this weekend. We'll see.

Anyway, I'm off to redo my nails in a slightly more professional shade than glittery black. Wink Ciao, dahlings!

Melusine: Grin Thanx, hon.

Sakina: Thanx. I have no news on my cousin's condition but she went to Disneyland over the weekend so things must be improving.

Hair: WCC with an ACV rinse. That reminds me, I need more ACV.

Finally got a trim yesterday afternoon. Fresh ends are always great and the length is now back to 28.5".
The curious thing was that I had to stave off the ever-so-slight temptation to hack it all off just above the shoulders and layer it a bit. Shocked Lips Sealed I don't know what my obsession is with cutting my hair short during the summer but it's the very reason behind the decade-long process of growing back to waist length. Chalk it up to my impulsive nature?

Anyway, so far I'm ok with the new Nature Fusion S&C. The shampoo is heavy and takes some getting used to but the conditioner is fab. There seems to be a certain element, a certain je ne sais quoi, to Pantene that just works better with my hair than anything else and surely there are at least a few products in the new line that I can accept...so once again, I suppose I surrender. Roll Eyes

What I've not been overly impressed with are the new end treatments. The serum absorbs completely into the ends of my hair, rendering almost no extra slip and the shine spray smells a bit too much like old cigarettes for comfort. Tongue

The coif d'été this year seems to be a plain ol' bun. Up, protected and out of the way. Rarely does my hair take on any other style.

Music: Tuesday night was my first practice with the "new" band, which is really just a variation of the old band. A different lead guitar player, a different keyboard player and a slightly grittier, tighter sound is what it amounts to.
The boys seemed grateful to have me around and applauded me for showing up without my father. Roll Eyes
One song that we're working on has the potential to be a single. It's wordy but has a solid melody, in Lizard's typical fashion...certainly no worse than any of the crap that's on the radio now.

Tonight's jam with the regular band members was canceled as my father has to set up at the usual weekend bar to play with The Kings. Speaking of which, I still need to collaborate with a friend on getting their new logo together. Dad likes my concepts...now it's a matter of execution.

Etc.: Spent this morning scrubbing the tub and shower for all of the boogers/athlete's foot/assorted other nasties left behind by my charming roommmates. The scuffer in particular. Tongue It took forever - I don't think I'd ever perspired that much in my life, but it also meant not having to work out this morning. Smiley

No jam sesh tonight means that I'm free to spend the evening doing whatever I please. A fitting end to my half birthday. Nachos, anyone?

Twitch twitch. Breakfast this morning was café au lait. With caffeine. Tongue Hopefully lunch will flush it out of my system.

It's nearly one in the afternoon and I haven't showered yet, which has become my typical habit of late. Without a steady work schedule demanding me to function at early hours, I tend to fall behind the rest of the world. Not in a lazy way or anything, I just naturally hit my stride in the evening instead of during the day. I'd probably be nocturnal if left to my own devices, or at least close to it. Operating on a different wavelength is nothing new to me.

But back to the shower idea, my sister just gave her dog a bath in the tub that I cleaned 2 days ago so I'll have to do it all over again before I can get in. ... If it wasn't such an effective means of burning calories, I'd be dead irritated.

In hair news, it's been nearly a week since I began using the Nature Fusion S&C and so far so good. Smiley Great, in fact. I'm even starting to come around on the shampoo. Its lather is different from that of other Pantene shampoos - softer, perhaps - and I'm slowly accepting it. The combination of the Smooth Vitality and Moisture Renewal conditioners renders the unparalleled texture that only Pantene can deliver. And now I'm not really sure why I let the lineup change scare me away. Surely there will always be something in their arsenal that works for me; it's just a matter of finding it.

As for end treatments, I've noticed that using more than the usual amount of serum helps a bit, although using too much will produce nearly the same greasy results as oil. It's a very delicate balance and unfortunately the current bottle does not have a pump dispenser to make things easier.

Yesterday's style was a single braid. Who knows what today's will be? Most likely a bun as usual.

Anyway, best get to work on the tub, I guess. ... Cheers.

Curlgirl: ... That's a good one. My sister cleaning something. Love that girl to death, don't get me wrong, but she and I are polar opposites on the subject of tidiness. I've half considered posting a picture of her room purely for shock value. Roll Eyes

Trisha: Grin Thanks. There's no place like home. Wink

Hair: Clarified today. I don't even remember when I did that last but it's good not to have anything in my hair. No leave-ins, no heavy conditioners, just clean. Now it's braided with a fresh, new hairtie.

Etc.: The carpeting in the house got a professional cleaning this morning so my hair isn't the only thing starting afresh. In awhile I'll be able to turn off the ceiling fan, vacuum and start putting things back down in my little room. And put something on my feet.

Well, it's been a week since my last interview so it's obviously a dead end. I'm so used to this by now that there's no surprise and little disappointment. That's just the way things are right now. Jobs are so scarce that even if someone does contact you for an interview, you should still plan on not getting the job and keep looking just as diligently as if nothing had happened. There is no room for things like hope or optimism - only action. Right now you can't even rely on your credentials because there are always hundreds, if not thousands, of other people applying for the same job who are just as qualified for it as you are. Like a tank full of hungry sharks. All you can do is keep hunting...your time will come.
