The new formula Pantene lathers like crazy which, I'm sure, was the point of changing it.  But it's a crazy amount of lather, to the point where I'm seriously thinking of thinning down the mix with water or tea or something.  I try to be careful about how much shampoo I squirt into my palm, but I still end up with crazy suds.   Sad  So yeah, definitely thinking of thinning the mix.  *sigh*

Trisha: Pantene has always lathered well, which is part of why I like it. I was more under the impression that they added more/heavier conditioning agents to the new shampoos and thus had to offset them with a harsher detergent. Just a theory of course. Just the same, I adamantly refuse to put lauryl sulfates on my fragile tresses.

Diluting my shampoo blends is 1.) for economical reasons and 2.) it helps them mix better. Wink

Hair: After helping my father install the new flatscreen TV in his office and then being ordered to clean my entire bathroom by my mother, it was after 2 PM before I got a shower. Tongue I could've used the Pantene shampoo blend for a CWC as usual but decided, for whatever reason, on something harsher: mother's Suave Pro Volumizing shampoo. Harsh indeed! It took care of the grease alright but left my roots dry and staticky.

Fortunately I knew that I'd be wearing my hair up today so its condition wasn't terribly important. It just had to be clean. So after applying Pantene's Curly detangler and ELOO and letting everything air dry completely, I swept it up into a flipped rope braid, tying a ribbon around the hairtie at the end. This was the style I wore to my aunt's house for dinner. Just took it down actually.

Tomorrow I'll clarify. Speaking of which, I need to make ACV rinses while the 'rents are asleep.

Another little thing that bears mentioning is that I've at last had the privilege (unique to us longhairs) of cutting my own hair out of the vacuum roller brush thingamajig after it got so wound up around the thing that the vacuum started burning up. Undecided Right of passage or reason to cut...?

Etc.: My mother's older sister & her husband are in town this week so we'll all be getting together with them often. Apparently I'm going to Disneyland next Sunday/Monday for free, which is fantastic with the exception of having to stay overnight.

Still nothing to report as far as the employment search goes. *SIGH* If relocating was a realistic option, I'd do it in a heartbeat. My distaste for California is mounting. The irony is that relocation is expensive.

Anyway, it's late and thus getting more difficult to form complete, intelligent sentences. Undecided Cheers.

Hair: Clarified with Herbal Essences Drama Clean shampoo, ACV rinse and Pantene's old Moisture Renewal conditioner. The one and only leave-in was Pantene's Curly detangler, which I've realized leaves a bit of a gritty film like the one for fine hair, just not nearly as much. Undecided Pantene, you suck.
Style du jour is a single braid.

Etc.: Still living like a cave dweller for the most part to encourage pallor. Avoiding light as much as possible. Speaking of which, the sun has gone down...time to venture out. Wink

Hair: CWC with Suave ocean breeze conditioner, blended shampoo and Pantene Nature Fusion Smooth Vitality conditioner...the latter of which is almost gone. Hair came out insanely soft as usual, so I guess for the money Nature Fusion S&C is a pretty good deal.

Leave-ins were Pantene Curly detangler for the length and ELOO for the ends. Before pinning it all up in a bun, I let it air dry, detangled and measured in at just over 29". Since my hair tends to grow faster during the cold seasons, I might reach waist length in 2 months. Encouraging. Smiley

Etc.: Sent out 3 résumés today, which I consider a blessing after the past few days have offered nothing worthy of response. It's quite defeating when I'm not able to send out at least one résumé per day. Small progress beats none at all.

In other (more obvious) news, it's September! Cheesy Only 3 weeks until fall. Stoke! Halloween pretties will soon be filling store shelves everywhere. Heheheheee *rubs palms gleefully*

And in the meantime, I figured I'd share my favorite version of this old standard:

Hair: My mother and sister hit the ranch this morning so I was able to do a WTC. Smiley Used up the last of my old Pantene Deep Fortifying Treatment and there seems to be no shortage of possible replacements in the new line.

Today's only leave-in was Pantene's Curly detangler. So much needed conditioning left my hair extremely soft but the weather forced it into the usual bun. Thank goodness summer's almost over!

Etc.: My hands still smell strongly with Bath & Body Works' new fragrance called Dark Kiss. Dig it! Sweet, sexy and just a little bit fruity. A sales associate attacked me with the lotion while I was in there earlier and now I can't stop smelling it. Roll Eyes

Covet: Speaking of dark and sexy, has anyone seen this yet?

...

In other news, my second UI extension was approved so it will be a little easier to breathe for another few months. Also sent out another rez today. Thank God for small favors.

Soon I'll be on the prowl for new makeup. I'm most desperately in need of mineral foundation but my entire collection could probably use a moderate overhaul.

Anyroad, I've not slept well for some nights and am knackered. Goodnight, fellow darklings

Hair: Clarified today but ended up getting sunblock in my hair afterwards. Tomorrow I'll probably use another ACV rinse to get it out.

The coif du jour was an ordinary bun secured with 3 bobby pins.

Etc.: Disneyland didn't happen yesterday but my sister, her bf and I went up today to meet the family there, including a few out of state relatives.

Realized a fatal flaw in my approach to summer goth makeup. Specifically blending sunblock & foundation. Even when paired with layers of powder it still smears and rubs off with embarrassing ease. And after several hours of wear the foundation begins to disintegrate, leaving uneven patches. It also gets shiny rather quickly - I had to powder my nose over and over today. Tongue I loathe summer.

Anyway, that's all for now. I haven't slept in almost 40 hours so after a quick run to the store I'm coming home to crash. G'night, all.

Hair: WTC...WTF?! Washed the entire length with blended Pantene shampoo and figured I'd try the new Restore Beautiful Lengths Replenishing Mask. While applying it, I noticed a faint burning sensation on my hands. Undecided Unfortunately it didn't get better from there. After rinsing, chasing with light conditioner, leave-in spray and air drying (the usual process), my hair was left with a disgusting gummy residue that made it difficult to detangle. Its natural texture was unrecognizable under the gunk. Tongue I quickly twisted it into a bun and returned the blasted treatment.
Needless to say the new Restore Beautiful Lengths line is not in my future...and I'll need to do a WCC tomorrow. Angry Aaaargh! Curse you, Pantene! Curse your new lines and curse your new formulas and curse you for ruining everything that was once great about them. This is the worst thing that's happened to my hair since I tried the intensive Dove treatment. Ugh!

At the store I picked up Aussie Moist 3 Minute Miracle treatment and Suave Pro 2-in-1. I've used both before, many years ago, and decided to give them another go. What the hey? I've more or less acquiesced to trying out whatever strikes my fancy at this point.

A heavy oiling overnight is in order before I attempt to fix things tomorrow. Sigh... Undecided

Etc.: Disneyland was a gas though it was hot and crowded. My scalp got sunburned through my hair even though I brought and used my umbrella. Sad
Captain EO was even more epic than I remembered, though I could've done without all of the host's cheesy MJ jokes ("sh'mon in" and "ease on down the rows" - really??) and the bouncing seats that force you to get down with his music - I can do that on my own, thanks. Roll Eyes It was fantastic to see it on the big screen in 3-D again after so many years. In fact, it was better than back then. The entire audience cheered when MJ made his big entrance in the film. My cousin, seated beside me, muttered, "Why is he dead??" All I could do was shake my head and say, "I don't know."
What I do know is that life isn't fair and neither is death; Captain EO is a classic; and there will never be another Michael Jackson - God rest him. I actually started to tear up at the end, but came out of the theatre dancing just like I had 20 some-odd years ago.

Also got this pic from Splash Mountain:

...

Apologies for the quality. It's actually a digital picture of a digital picture, taken with my camera phone. That's my sister's scuffer boyf in the front and my sis behind. Behind her is my father with my mum hiding behind him trying to avoid water. No idea who the rock star in the bat shirt was in the back. I'll kick her butt if I ever see her though. Wink

What else...? Had an interview yesterday with a really small company. No dice. Our out of state relatives left for home this afternoon. On Friday my friend T will be down from LA. And our next door neighbors just had their black iron fence replaced with white vinyl. The guys who installed it didn't do the greatest job and my father & I stood on the front porch this evening and mocked it. He has visions of building a professional looking wooden fence around our yard himself just to be an awlarse. Roll Eyes Tee hee.

Weather wise we seem to be having what the news anchors called an "autumn cold snap"...in the summer. Hey, as long as it involves cool temps and clouds, I'm not complaining! We also have some very rare humidity in the air. 75% at the moment, which is unheard of for this area. Mother said that we may even get some morning drizzle tomorrow. Cheesy

Anyroad, that's about it for now. This entry is quite long enough. Cheers!

Trisha: You too? Ugh! Someone should write a letter or something. Angry

Hair: ... Clarified today...or at least that was the idea. Then I thought it would be brilliant to follow a nice, refreshing clarifying wash and ACV rinse by trying out another Pantene deep conditioning treatment. This time it was the Medium-Thick Intensive Restoration Treatment. After leaving it in for the usual hour I rinsed it out with lukewarm/cool water. That's right about where things started to suck.
It didn't seem to condition as well as the old Intensive Restoration Treatment which I'd used zillions of times in the past. That seems to be the trend in conditioning treatments of late. Upon rinsing they don't seem to condition very much but after your hair dries, it's only then that you notice it's slick with grease. Against all of my hopes that's exactly what happened, and now I have to wash my hair from root to tip all over again tomorrow. With another vinegar rinse. Angry Thanks for nothing, Pantene!

Alas, no leave-ins to add to the mess and today's style is a bun.

Etc.: Been a busy weekend between chores, errands and entertaining. My parents return from WA tonight, ending my 4-day "staycation." Did I really just use the word staycation? Tongue In any case, I have a few hours to chill before accompanying my sister to pick up Thing 1 and Thing 2 from the airport.

Weather-wise it's still quite warm. Mid-80's during the day and high 50's at night. Anyone else dying for some cold winter air?

Heh heh...I like this one. Wink

You Should Sing on Stage

Have you tried deep treating with mayonnaise?  Put it on your hair dry, cover with a shower cap for 30 min. then shampoo as usual.   You can add olive oil to it.  It leaves your hair soft, but with body and fabulous shine.

I still swear by Burt's Bees sulfate-free shampoo, conditioner and deep conditioner, with vinegar rinses.

According to the test, I should sing on-stage, too,  Smiley which I know we both do.

Mel & Sakina: Coolness, my fellow chanteuses. Thanx for the suggestions. Hmm...haven't tried mayo in quite awhile. Mostly because my hair was shorter back then and I used a flat clip to keep it up while I had treatments in it and something in the mayo (vinegar perhaps?) would always cause the spring on my clips to disintegrate and break. Undecided It would probably work under a shower cap though.

As for the rest, I'm afraid I cannot justify products that are very expensive and/or loaded with oils.

Hair: Speaking of oil, I decided to do a heavy EVOO treatment last night, perhaps with the hope that it would "grab" the residual gunk from yesterday's deep conditioner and get washed out this morning. Perhaps I'd forgotten just how heavy EVOO actually is in my hair - it had no trouble reminding me why I'd long since stopped using it. Tongue
But after washing all over with Herbal Essences Tousle Me Softly shampoo (diluted ever so slightly), pouring on another ACV rinse, conditioning with both Tousle Me Softly and Suave ocean breeze, things seemed to work out alright.

The spray conditioner that I'm currently using is a blend of Pantene Curly Detangler, Johnson & Johnson No More Tangles and Suave Kids detangling sprays. All was well right up until I applied way too much serum, which rendered the ends extremely greasy even after air drying. Bleh! So the hair is in a braid...but at least most of it is clean. Undecided

Etc.: Skincare is a tricky thing too. I've been trying out all kinds of new cleansers and moisturizers. I guess I'm still in an experimental stage of life and should ponder the significance of this. Or something. Roll Eyes

Anyway, how did it get to be mid-September already? I swear, we'll be Christmas shopping before long. Don't anyone tell me that you've started already.

I use a large U shaped metal pin to hold my hair up when conditioning.  Do you have one of these?

I'm trying to find the link for the ones I bought, but I've had them for more than 4 years.

After hours of searching, I found a link.  He used to be over at ebay and now is at etsy.

Sure don't. Wow, you didn't have to go to the trouble but thanks. Sadly I probably don't have enough hair to use something like that but I appreciate the idea pitch.

Hair: Much better today. I did a CWC with Suave ocean breeze light conditioner and Herbal Essences Tousle Me Softly S&C. Today's only leave-in was blended spray conditioner. No end treatment to gum up the works. My hair is kind of prone to tangles but is clean and shiny and smells lovely. I got to break in my new Conair Velvet Touch cushion brush today and am kinda diggin' it. Not thinking of replacing my seamless combs or anything, it's just good to have a variety I think.

No style just yet. If I go out I'll try a bun. The last time I did one my hair slipped out of the pins. Undecided

Etc.: BMI is now at 21.4 which is on the thin side of normal...or about as thick as a skinny person can get before being considered "normal weight." Roll Eyes Bleh.
This morning both my mother and sister said that I've been looking thin lately so I must be on the right track. It's going to take awhile to recover from the last round of meds that turned me into a beluga whale. It's happened before and I know I can bounce back.

Okay, I am champagne bubbles and apple cider.

Burt's Bees isn't that expensive.  The shampoo and conditioner are $8.99 at WalMart, and the regular conditioner is so thick that I dilute it about 2 to 1.
