Hair:Yes, I must admit that Pantene has done right by me.   Roll Eyes

Another admission I must make is that I've been thinking again about whacking off my hair.   Angry  Why am I having these distubing urges?  I'm happy with my long hair, really I am.  At least I think I am.  Am I not?  *searches hair soul*  Hmm....maybe I'm projecting the boredom I feel about my life in general  onto my hair.   Huh  Change the hair, change the life, right? Hmm...psychology 101 sure comes in handy some days.   Wink

Other:Eh...  Tongue  Haven't been writing, haven't been working on the genealogy.  I'm simply slogging through the days, going through the motions of life.

*sneaks up and hides the scissors again*  Wink

Psychology is bunk. Life will be what you make of it, no matter what your hair looks like. You've worked hard to grow your hair to its current length. If you absolutely must cut, don't take off more than a few inches. That way, it won't take long to recover.

Those periods of "blah" are kinda sucky. Like you're kind of passing through a hazy blur of work, home and the usual crapola. My typical solution is to go out and spend money (on things that I sincerely want, of course), but sometimes that doesn't help much.  Roll Eyes I'm not going to leave you with the "hang in there" cliché. Everyone has their own methods of breaking through the "blah" but usually it just works itself out. Peace.  Smiley

Tuesday 6 November 2007
Hair:Wash day, yay!  Hair is parted down the middle.  My hair looks so good when it's clean that seeing it makes me happy.   Smiley  The urge to chop off all of my length has once again subsided.  Maybe I simply need to wash it more often?  --Something to consider.

Other:Hubby and I had our annual dental check up this morning, and both passed with flying toothbrushes.  Flying toothbrushes instead of flying colors, get it?   Grin  Ahem.   Huh  Then next Tuesday, the 13th, I'll have my annual check up with my gynecological doctor.
We're gearing up for Thanksgiving, on the 22nd of this month, making up a menu and grocery list.  My daughter will be coming home for 4-5 days.   Smiley  It's challenging, yet not impossible, to fix dishes for both the regular eaters and us low carb folks.  Hubby, brother in law, and I are the low carbers.  The other 5 people at the Thanksgiving table are regular eaters.  I've been finding some good recipes here:
http://www.fabulousfoods.com/fitfab/articles/lcholiday2.html
and here:
http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/recipereview/index.php

I prefer recipes that are simple yet tasty, involving ingredients that I am likely to keep on hand all of the time.  It's usually cheaper that way, too.   Roll Eyes
The weather here in Missouri is cold and clear, with temperatures set to drop into the 20s tonight.   Shocked  You'd best believe Yours Truly will be stoking up the fire this evening!
Peace and love, everybody   Kiss

Wednesday 7 November 2007
Hair:  I think I'm going to try washing every other day instead of going so long in between shampoos.  So since I washed yesterday today is a no-wash day.  The top still looks good, though, with very little grease, so I'm wearing my hair down today.  The back/length is slightly wavy from night braids.

Other:It was COLD this morning, around 24 degrees.   Shocked  And I wore a skirt to work.   Cheesy  Why is it that the cold weather makes me want to wear skirts and dresses, eh?   Huh  The word daft comes to mind...
This Saturday evening is the installation of officers ceremony at St. Mark's #93 Masonic Lodge.  Hubby will be installed as Junior Warden, which means he gets to cook for the guys next year.   Smiley  Family members are welcome at the ceremony, so Yours Truly will be present.  I plan on wearing a long black velour skirt with a slit up one side topped by a sheer white ruffly blouse.   Smiley

Grin  Couldn't tell ya, Trish. That is usually when I pull all of my long coats out of the closet though.

Yeah, perhaps if you do the long coat you won't have to worry about the draft.  I personally prefer wearing dresses and skirts all of the time but I've yet to find a way to wear them in colder weather without a long coat or tights.

That sounds nice! Cheesy  I've been looking for a ruffly blouse to wear this Saturday as well, but so far with no luck. Tongue  Have a great time at the ceremony! Smiley

Tuesday 13 November 2007

Other:  Whew, sorry I've been gone for a while.  Last Thursday and Friday I was out sick with a UTI   Angry   My lower back was aching, so I figured something was up.  But I saw a doctor Friday morning, who confirmed my self diagnosis   Wink  and he prescribed a lurvley antibiotic that's clearing everything up.  Then today I had my pap test and annual exam with my gyno (the same doctor who performed my surgery in 2003).  He, the gyno, asked, "How long has it been?"  (since the whole hysterectomy/cancer thing).  Four years, says I.  "Four years...you know it's very, very, very unlikely that the cancer will return at this point," he says, smiling.  I think so, too, says I, giving him a return smile.   Smiley  And yes, he used the word 'very' three times.  I had blood drawn for a CA125 and I'll get the results of that test within a couple of days.  Life is good.   Cool

Thanksgiving is next week, can you friggin' believe it?!   Shocked

Our department secretary is going on vacation starting tomorrow, and will not return until Monday the 26th.  Which means Yours Truly will be stuck out front most of the time.  Entries may be sporadic at best, but you know I'll be thinking about y'all.   Kiss

Front desk buddies...I like it!   Kiss

Wednesday 14 November 2007
Hair:  Wash day, hair is down.  A coworker just said, "Man, your hair is REALLY long."   Smiley

Other:  So, yeah, I'm sitting out front, womaning the reception area.  It's terribly quiet and pretty darn boring.  The phone isn't even ringing a lot.  *shrug*  Oh well, who am I to complain.  I'm reading a book loaned to me by our division VP, who also enjoys writing.  The book is called "Hooked" and was written by Les Edgerton.  It's about "writing fiction that grabs readers at page one and never lets them go"   Smiley  I'm only on page 9, but I've already learned some good tips.  I haven't written in a few days, but hiatuses are normal for me.
I woke up yesterday to find one of the toes on my left foot slightly swollen and achy in the joint.  It's still swollen and achy today.  This has never happened before and, no, I didn't stub it.  Arthritis?  Possibly.  Strange that it's only affecting one toe, though.  Then this morning I woke up to find I have developed a fever blister in the left corner of my mouth!   Angry  I haven't had a fever blister in years!  First the UTI, then the toe, and now the fever blister.  What the heck?!   Huh

Welcome to my line of work.  Roll Eyes  And LOL @ "womaning" the reception area. You're so funny, Trish.

Sorry about your recent, er, health issues. Getting old sux, doesn't it?  Undecided

Friday 16 November 2007
Hair:  No wash day; hair is in a segmented ponytail.

Other:I have a feeling my "maladies" were side effects of the antibiotic I was taking for the UTI.  I have now finished that course of pills and hopefully my body will return to normal soon.  Like now.   Smiley
Three days down covering for the secretary, three more to go.  Things have been very quiet, knock wood, and they'd darned well better stay that way.
I, well, hubby and I found out today that his mother has invited a guest to our house for Thanksgiving.   Shocked  It's not so much that she invited someone, it's the fact that she didn't bother to ask us if it was all right to do so.  It's not like her to not alert us first, and it's not as if we would have said "no".  Still...this means a serious bout of cleaning must happen between now and Thursday morning instead of the "good enough" swiping I was going to do.   Sad  Oh well  *shrug*  The guest is an elderly lady who lives alone, so chances are her eyesight is less than perfect!   Grin
I'm so glad it's Friday.  Hubby has already done most of the laundry (what a sweetie) and I'll be able to focus on getting a lot of the cleaning done.  Y'all have a good weekend and be safe.  *hugs*

Hang in there Trisha.  Although you are worried about how your house will look, I would bet the guest of your mother's will be happy to share your Thanksgiving dinner, regardless of the condition of your house.  My mother is one of those elderly widows that is grateful for a Thanksgiving invite (and I'm glad people invite her - it reduces my guilt!).  So, try to think more about sharing your table, house and friendliness and not worry so much about the dust bunnies!

Amen to that, BB   Wink

Hair:  Wash day with Pantene's Brilliant Brunette.  Also did a vinegar rinse.

Other:  I was a busy bee Saturday.  I had the house to myself; hubby was gone to a lodge meeting in St. Louis and Brother In Law was on a run.  So I stacked a couple of wheelbarrows of firewood closer to the back door, changed out the kitty litter, did some dusting, did the laundry, vacuumed, cleaned the bathroom, and Swiffer-mopped the floors.  Whew!   Smiley It felt good, though, to get things done on MY time and not have to work around everybody else's schedules and plans.  Wednesday evening, or Thursday morning, I'll do another light cleaning, if nothing else, for the bathroom.  I always feel like the entire house is clean when the bathroom is clean!   Smiley

We have a 3-day week here at the university, as we'll be closed on Thursday and Friday.  I'm still womaning the front desk, and expect things to remain calm and quiet.  I haven't been writing because there are too many interruptions when I'm out front.  But it's acceptible that I'm not writing because, using what I've learned from the how-to book, Hooked, I have a lot of revisions to make...as in, EVERYthing needs revising.  That's okay, though, because it's a learning process.  It's progress.  It's evolution.  And my writing continues to evolve.   Smiley

You're lucky. My writing has been on an indefinite hiatus for years. Every once in awhile, it comes out for a second, then disappears just as quickly. Enjoy the ride while you can, amiga.  Wink
