Just Angel: 'Tis I, the artist formerly known as Angel Spun/Midnight Angel. Why I didn't just keep it simple and use those names as journal titles, I don't know. Takes awhile to work out the kinks, I guess. Roll Eyes
But this feels right...the nickname given to me by my paternal grandmother. Everyone here calls me Angel anyway, so here it is, down to brass tacks. New year, new journal, new name...sort of. Same ol' me though. Wink

Hair: Started 2010 off with a W-VR-CC. Washed with my very diluted Pantene-TRESemmé shampoo blend, then used an ACV rinse. Conditioned first with the last of my Pantene-Herbal Essences blend conditioner, and the last time with Suave lavender lilac. Confused yet? Undecided
Anywho, my hair has stayed down all day, mostly for measuring purposes, but also because I'm sick as a dog and don't feel like doing anything with it.
The number came out to 28.5" today. Success! I will reach waist length this year. Cheesy

The Rest: So I'm sick, unemployed and in need of an emergency surgery that I can't afford...and my right index finger is sliced. The new year is off to an epic start. Roll Eyes

Oh, and my sister reminded me that my birthday is in a week. We're getting to the point where our 4 year age gap seems to be closing. When we were younger, it made a big difference. Not so much anymore.
Speaking of my sis, she's decided that I'm deprived in the way of pop culture movies, so she made me watch Transformers tonight. She found it amusing that I remember "the original Transformers"..., which goes back to the age thing. Roll Eyes

Well, it's after midnight. So ends the first day of the year. Reckon I'll stop yammering now and get to bed. Sleep is the best medicine. Cheers!

Hair: I just woke up, so it's a mess. The plan is to do a CWC, using my new Kenra stuff as the first conditioner. To be quite honest, I have serious buyer's remorse, wasting so much $$$ on swanky salon products that don't work as well as my Pantene. I should have known. Embarrassed But the little silver coffin-shaped bottles were apparently beyond my resistance. Roll Eyes Now all I want is to get rid of them.

Etc.: Yeah, so much for that whole sleeping idea. Tongue I was up all night blowing my nose and haven't stopped. It was insanely cold last night and our heater is broken. My throat was already sore, so it killed just to breathe. The only relief was pulling my comforter over my head, which gets uncomfortably close after awhile.
When I actually did sleep, I dreamed about miraculously resurrecting a brilliant composer who had died 1,000 years ago, and gaining insight to his genius as we tried to correct some type of injustice to his life's work. Huh Sort of like Corpse Bride meets The Crow meets Phantom Of The Opera.
Is it any wonder that I never used drugs? Roll Eyes

Anyway, it looks as though our Christmas tree and decorations are coming down today. Sad My mini tree came down days ago after it fell over while I was cleaning...and my sister's dog chewed up several of its pretty red ornaments. Angry

My goals for the day are to pick up my neglected bass again and play it...and shop! I am more or less functionally ill. Roll Eyes

One sunny day,
I'll get back again
Somehow, some way,
But I don't know when

California blue

Oh dear, I hope you start feeling better soon.
Can I recommend some combination of a humidifier, neti pot rinse, and behind-the-counter sudafed?

And nice to see you re-incarnated, Angel!
I was rooting for Angel Noir, but just Angel is also quite nice.  Cheesy

KNS: Thanx. I do seem to be on the mend. Slowly but surely. Humidifier, check. Sudafed, check. Neti pot...I don't own one and would probably drown myself trying to use one (YouTube gold). Grin

Hair: The usual CWC routine + Suave Kids detangling spray. Style is a single braid. Having the worst pinched nerve I've ever had in my life makes doing anything with my hair quite difficult. So that's one more thing I can add to the ever-growing list of what's wrong with me. Roll Eyes

Etc.: Slowly healing. That's about all I can say. Illness, pinched nerve and the slice in my finger...all slowly healing.

My nails are insanely glitzy. hehe Move over, Ziggy. Grin

Hold it in the light and see right through it
For God's sake, make a decision
Take it for a walk and hold it, hold it
Pin it on the wall and fasten onto
Move it to the back and oh yes, oh yes
Do what must be done and don't say maybe

This is the one for the money
This is the one for the trees
This is the one called heaven
And this is the one for me

Heehee! You'd be quite talented to drown yourself with a neti pot, but I understand the sentiment. It's really much better to just try it, and not watch the videos. Grin

Sakina: They do indeed suck. Fortunately, it seems to be making a rapid recovery. Smiley

KNS: Ziggy Stardust, babe. Wink And just the same, I think I'll pass on the neti pot.

Hair: CWC with Kenra volumizing conditioner, shampoo blend and Pantene Ice Shine conditioner. Leave-ins were Suave Kids detangling spray and ELOO. Managed to leave my hair down with a side part all day, and shockingly, it didn't end up a complete rat's nest. Smiley Of course, I did duck into a few ladies' rooms while I was out and put a seamless comb to work.

Etc.: Four chamber walls couldn't contain me today with my sickness disappearing (slowly). One can only stay in playing bass for so long before developing a maddening case of cabin fever (not to mention very sore fingers!), so I took my Christmas giftcards out shopping. Came home with a new top and a new jacket; both black, both very cute, and both with rock & roll potential. Wink

On that note, I'm positively itching to get back on the stage...

Trisha: Thanx, and me too! The voice has already come back about 75%. It's good to be able to sing again. Smiley

Hair: CWC. No leave-ins. Hair is down. I'm a bum. Tongue

Etc.: Been hanging out in my pj's all day since I have nothing to wear, and I'm not going anywhere or doing anything. Plus, I'm still sick, so if I happen to fall asleep anywhere, at least I'm dressed for it. Roll Eyes

Anyway, I'm off to do more of nothing. Roll Eyes

Trisha: Huh Surely you're not serious.

Hair: WCC with an ACV rinse this morning. I like cutting through the grease, conditioner and other excesses, and starting afresh.
There was a teensy bit left of the shampoo blend I'd been using, so I dumped the last of it into my Kenra shampoo, along with a little TRESemmé to help it lather better, and shook it up. The concoction smells faintly like beer from a distance, which I don't like at all! ...

Colouring the blonde hairpiece that I had didn't work. So I lashed it and decided that the next time I feel the need for fake hair, I'll buy brunette. Even if it's too dark. Roll Eyes

Etc.: Tomorrow is my b-day and my friend T will be in town this evening to make help me celebrate. Roll Eyes

Happy Birthday!!!

Is it a synthetic hair piece?

Ohhh, Tresemme...
I have a bottle of that at my parent's place. It's umm, I think... Let me see.
Yup. At least 9 years old now.
Want some for your evil hair-genius chemistry experiments?!  Cheesy
It's got a French name. Maybe like a good French wine, Tresemme only gets better with age!  Grin

All: Thanx!

KNS: Grin Think I need to use up my own excesses before moving onto someone else's. hehe Thanx anyway though. And yes, it was a synthetic hairpiece.

Hair: Lately, the routine has been CWC + the usual leave-ins + single braid. Got some of that wonderfully expensive Kenra shampoo in my eye this morning. Holy #&$%!!! Lips Sealed ...
Much like Herbal Essences, if it hurts my eyes that much, wtf is it doing to my hair?!

Etc.: My parents gave me a huge ice cream "cake," which was really just layers of ice cream (I've never cared for cake), cash and 3 cards.
My grandfather in WA sent a card and a check.
From T, a coffee table book about Michael Jackson, a fractal calendar, dinner at my favourite little café, a card and the new Echo & The Bunnymen album.
Got a happy birthday tweet this morning from the Echo & The Bunnymen crew. Cheesy Nice thing to wake up to.

The family & I are heading to Disneyland tomorrow night. Speaking of which, the Bats Day crew have finally released photos from the 2009 event. This was ours. That's our little group on the right.

Anyway, my nails have been redone in high quality black with a tastefully subtle glitter topcoat. Should be right at home in New Orleans Square. Wink

Cheers!

Hair: Yesterday saw the usual routine with the last of my Kenra conditioner, Kenra blend shampoo and Pantene Ice Shine conditioner. It was the final use for all of the above.
The weather has been wreaking havoc on my skin again and yesterday morning, I noticed a rash from one (or some) of the products I'd been using. After yesterday's shower, I snapped and lashed everything that was bad for me/not working/potential cause for the rash/etc. Hair products, skin products, face products - if it was the least bit suspect, it was gone.

Later that afternoon, I went shopping for a total restock. So I'm back to using Suave light conditioners. Shampoo will either be Pantene Ice Shine or Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition, whichever I feel like using on any given day.
My Ice Shine conditioner was pretty much gone, so I refilled the bottle with Moisture Renwal - my old friend.
Now I at least have the reassurance that what I'm using works for me. It's good to be back.

Tonight, I might call my scissor lady and try to schedule a trim for this weekend if I don't have anything going on.

Etc.: Disneyland was fun, as our night trips usually are (even though I nearly passed out from hypoglycemia). We did a lot in just a few hours and my friend T even joined us.

This morning has been anything but fun. I've been losing sleep over my impending oral surgery, which is why I'm up at this ungodly hour. I'm here for distraction. My hands are shaking a bit even as I type this.
Today I have a consultation with my sister's oral surgeon, and I can fairly well predict what they're going to say. My wisdom teeth are severely decayed and need to come out NOW. It's been the same story for years, and if I could afford to do anything about it, I would have already.

God only knows how/if this will work itself out. My heart is pounding right now. There's my alarm. Time to face the music... Cry

Trish & Curlgirl: Thanx. As predicted, it's imperative to do the surgery ASAP, but it's even more expensive than I thought it would be. So I've been trying to stay chill and weigh the options. Just keep breathing...

Hair: Did a heavy ELOO treatment last night and washed out this morning with Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition shampoo. First conditioner was the Triple Nutrition 3-Minute Undo treatment, which has tiny seeds or bits of seeds or shells or whatever in it. ... I'm not keen on the idea of putting abrasive substances in my hair. Shocked
Second conditioner was the regular Triple Nutrition stuff, which goes on quite thin.
Leave-ins were Suave Kids detangling spray on the length and a little ELOO on the ends. All that olive oil made for some pretty greasy locks, so into a single braid it went. Tongue

Tomorrow, I have a trim scheduled for 5 PM.

Speaking of trims, I took about 2" off of my sister's hair last night at her request. Admittedly, I'm not the best hair trimmer on Earth, but she insisted, so I gave it my best. Then I ran a little ELOO through the ends of her hair, which are terribly dry and damaged so they sucked it right up. In the end, she seemed quite satisfied with Angel's ghetto salon. Roll Eyes

Etc.: Today I decided to indulge a few therapy techniques to help me deal with recent stresses. I started by writing down some of my biggest problems and worst fears, then hiding them away and trying to put them out of my mind for awhile. Then I went to my favourite mall, where a particularly smart blazer caught my eye - and it was on sale too. Wink Couldn't resist, though I'll have to get it tailored. It's been far too long since I had a good blazer to go with everything.

Tonight, I'm just doing laundry and catching up on TV shows. Strange for someone who isn't into TV. Roll Eyes

Trisha: Yes, they offer financing and I could also use a credit card. But I'm afraid my monthly expenditures are pretty well maxed out right now. Undecided

Hair: CWC with Suave lavender lilac conditioner, Pantene Ice Shine shampoo and Pantene Moisture Renewal conditioner. Sprayed both Suave Kids and Kenra leave-in conditioners on the length and used extra serum today since I knew that I would have a trim this evening. Hair stayed down all day, and I gave my scalp a massage just before said trim.
Scissor lady refused payment after hearing that I'd been out of work since September. So nice of her! I'll definitely remember her in my prayers tonight. Free fresh ends! Cheesy
Measured the length at 28.75" just before the trim.

Etc. Wanted to indulge a little writing therapy at the coast after my mum started in on me this morning. Angry The weather was perfect - overcast with patches of drizzle along the way; a new CD in the stereo and I sang along. It all went well until I reached the shore and found it nearly impossible to park. People everywhere. And then the sun came out. ...

Sometime later, I guess.

A very belated happy birthday from here.  Long story.....but I'm taking the time to read everyone's blogs because I WANT TO!  Need to make time for things one wants to do sometimes.

Do you need to have your wisdom teeth removed?  It wasn't bad for me.  This is probably my clumsy attempt at comfort but it was nothing on having the tonsils out.

Hair: Clarified. Still using the (slightly diluted) Pantene/Herbal essences clarifying shampoo blend and DWV rinse. Used my sister's Pantene Moisture Renewal conditioner instead of my own. Buahahahaha!
After spraying on Suave Kids leave-in and air drying, I measured my hair at 27.25". So I lost 1.5" during the trim. My hair definitely seems thicker for it.
Anyroad, it's now braided as usual and out of the way.

Etc.: Still no news in the job search. Sad My UI only lasts until September so they'd better get crackin'. Three and a half months have already flown by without a shred of encouragement. Will it become six months? Nine? Undecided

Well, I couldn't offer any words of encouragement about oral surgery, because my personal experience would probably not be comforting at all! To be fair, they were not my wisdom teeth, so maybe wisdom teeth extraction is done completely differently.  Cheesy

Drear: UI lasts for a maximum of one year in CA.

KNS: I am in the clerical/administrative field, and thanks.

Hair: CWC + Suave leave-in spray. Hair's been down all day and the length is greasy in certain areas for some reason. Huh Tonight, I'll try to wash all of my seamless combs, as well as wash all of my hair again tomorrow.
If I attempt a power walk tonight, I'll braid it. Otherwise...meh.

Etc.: Had an interview set up with a company through yet another soddin' staffing agency until I realized that said company was way out of my commute range. Of course the staffing agency wasn't going to tell me that - I had to drive out there for myself to see just how far it really was - and cursed them all the way back home. What a sham. Angry At least the staffing service won't get commission for using me. Losers.

Ahem. Back to my bass studies...

Hair: Well, it's official. I'm going to colour. Yesterday, I picked up 2 boxes of Level 1 "light brown," which is actually more of a medium chocolate brown, truth be told, so it shouldn't be too drastically different from my natural colour. It's just for fun and should only last about a week...but I'm excited. I haven't dyed my hair in 10 years. I'm going to wait a few days for my skin to clear up before colouring.

The routine this morning will be a CWC with an ACV rinse. Somehow, I managed to lose the cap to the bottle that I used to make vinegar rinses in, so I got a new one yesterday...a strange, torpedo shaped thing. We'll see how it works out.

Leave-ins will be Suave Kids detangler and probably ELOO, as serum hasn't been terribly helpful lately. Style will be contained just in case I end up going to Disneyland later today. I've worn my hair down for the past few days anyway.

Etc.: Yesterday, I discovered that my next big bill isn't due until February, so I finally have a little money to play with. Cheesy Ordered some gorgeous, gothly new goodies from 1928, then headed to the local stores. Whoever said that money can't buy happiness never had to worry about money. It can't buy love, but it most certainly can buy happiness. Dahling. Wink

Anyroad, as mentioned above, my sister & I might drive up to Disneyland today. Her boyfriend will be wrapped up in the playoffs...at least, I think it's the playoffs. Huh Our team is a contender for the Stupid Bowl this year, so everyone's jumping on the blue & gold bandwagon. Roll Eyes I don't follow American football.

LD: Very belated thanks.

Hair: Wet. It rained today. I'm not sure my hair ever dried from when it was in the shower. Again, I went out without a hood on (I'm not a fan of umbrellas) and wound up looking like a drowned rat. Fortunately, I carry a few bobby pins in my purse and was able to make a decent bun to combat the homeless chick look.

Routine today was the usual CWC + Suave detangling spray + serum. Just wash & go. I haven't even run a comb through it.

Etc.: Spent the day mall hopping like a giddy, middle class 30-something with money to burn. Roll Eyes Picked up a few CD's for my sister's b-day, which is a little over 2 weeks away. Mother Nature bid me to hit the Godiva boutique, Roll Eyes and at JCP, I was unable to resist a super cute new top by Bisou Bisou. It has a bit of a gothic edge to it, so eventually, I'd like to replace its current buttons with intricate pewter ones. The only depressing part was having to buy a size larger than I normally wear. Undecided Well, that and having to face the 3-way mirror in the dressing room. Tongue

Anyroad, while at Target, I also noticed that Sally Hansen's Salon nail polish line had been revamped, so I couldn't resist getting a few new bottles (hehe my name is Angel and I am a nail polish addict). The colours I picked up were Purple Pulse and Midnight In NY. Fabulous.

Well, it's now almost 10:00, so I'd better start getting ready for bed.

Peace and love.

Just checked them online.  Look fabulous.  I'd like the purple.  The MN in NY is similar to a cheap one that's part of a 15 pack my mom got me for x-mas.  The Blazing Blue is similar to a stable I used to own in several mainstream brands but from discontinued lines.  I'm out of them now though.  Don't think we have SH here but I'll find something similar once our sidewalks thaw up.  I'll be disappointed if Gosh doesn't have that purple or blue.

Drear: They are fabulous!

Trisha: Bless your heart. It was as easy as going back and returning the bottle I bought. It means more to have one from a friend. Kiss

Hair: Well, it's done. This morning, I did a WCC with no leave-ins and went about my business while it dried (despite the rain). Upon returning home, I ran a comb through my virgin hair, sectioned it and then coloured each section. Left the colour in for over 40 minutes, then rinsed and conditioned with Suave lavender lilac and Herbal Essences Long Term Relationship. Right away, I could tell that my hair was darker. I sprayed Kenra leave-in conditioner on the length and slicked a bit of serum on the ends, then sat in my room with the ceiling fan on full blast.

My family didn't even notice the difference until I mentioned it. It's definitely darker, but subtle. I'd call it Hershey's kiss brown. Milk chocolate. My mother said it looked nice. I'll need a few days to get used to it.
It seems to accentuate the darker tones in my eyes and it definitely complements my brows better. I'd like to see how my makeup fares with it.

As for now, my hair is in the usual single braid, which was crucial for the rain and for going to the mountains where it's often windy. I'll take it down before bed.

Nails: Total bling. 1 coat silver sparkle, one coat white micro glitter. It's a bit much even for me...though it would be right at home in a Vegas nightclub. Or a Lady Gaga show. Roll Eyes

Etc.: Went to Viejas Outlet Center earlier tonight out of boredom; came home with a cute new pair of shoes. Now I won't have to worry about wearing my ratty Ariats to job interviews. Roll Eyes

Anyway, as soon as this cucumber face mask dries, I'll finish getting ready for bed and try to catch up on The Biggest Loser. Ciao!

Hair: The fake colour has faded quite a bit already. In a few days, it should be back to natural, which I'm looking forward to. It only took this once to reaffirm what I learned all through high school and college: darker hair is nice, but not all it's cracked up to be.
Plus, I don't like what it's done to the texture at all. It's dry and tangles way more even though it's otherwise healthy. I hope I haven't ruined the natural texture permanently. 'Twould be my luck. Angry I'll do everything I can to revive its condition as the colour fades.

Today's routine was the usual CWC + Suave detangling spray + serum. Style was a flipped ponytail, which got quite messed up between the rain and the hood of my sweatshirt.

Etc.: Woke up early this morning to the sweet sounds of my parents arguing...about my weight of all things. Embarrassed Exercised for an hour once I finally dragged myself out of bed. God, I wish I lived alone.

Went to the coast for some writing therapy and to indulge my fat a** with a few treats from Starbucks Lips Sealed and ended up taking a few shots of the water with my camera phone. One of the cool things about the combination of ocean and rain is that it creates huge waves, which draws both psycho surfers and shutterbugs from their dark, reclusive dwellings. Enjoy the work of my crap composition skills. Tongue

I love the photos! Nice and dreary, feels like home.  Grin

I'm reasonably sure that once the color fades, your hair will feel  like normal again. After all, since it's temporary color, it didn't go *into* your hair. So it's just a coating, right? Color fades, coating gone, weird texture poof!

At least, that's how I'm rationalizing it.  Cool

Curlgirl & KNS: Thanx, guys; and I hope you're both right. Wink

Hair: Gosh, it's after 12:30 and I haven't showered. Tongue But then, I really haven't been up that long. Once I do finally get my act together, I'm going to clarify and hope that helps with the dye. It's almost faded out anyway.
The colouring experience was kinda fun but I wouldn't be able to make a long term commitment. When I start going gray, it might be a different story, but I have a good 15 years before I'll have to worry about it.

Etc.: My 1928 jewelry order arrived 2 days ago and I really love most of it. One pair of linear drop earrings will have to go back, though, as they're too big. Undecided

Then yesterday, I got Trisha's little surprise in the mail. A bottle of Sally Hansen's Salon nail polish in Midnight In NY as well as a V-day card. Thank you, Trish! Lovely penmanship, by the way. Wink I'm due for a manicure in a few days and I don't think I'll be able to resist trying out this new shade.

Weather-wise, we're overcast today. The rain has been typically gorgeous and dramatic, but I think the majority of it has passed us by now. Sad They say this is supposed to be a rainy year for us. We need one!

That's pretty much it for now. I'm off to exercise a little and then clarify my greasy self. Cheers!

Thanks honey; I pride myself on having good penmanship.  Not everyone cares about that anymore and I think that's unfortunate.   Sad

Trisha: Yup, I'm one of the sort who doesn't care much about my own penmanship. It's a wonder if I can get even part of what's in my head down on paper before it flitters away. Nevermind how it looks. Your thoughts are only yours for a split second and it can be tricky to seize them as they strike. It's all my fingers can do to keep up. This is also why I type 80 WPM. Roll Eyes
But I console myself with the notion that geniuses have bad penmanship. Grin

As for Midnight In NY, it's still going strong after day 3, though I do need to touch up a few places. It's a high quality black and the sparkle is subtle enough that it's only visible under certain lighting conditions.

Hair: Air drying at the moment. Did a WCC + the usual leave-ins. Recently, I've become rather fascinated with the idea of tea staining. I've combined my Suave and Kenra leave-in detangling sprays and infused them with tea, and I try to do tea rinses every morning at the end of my shower. Feeling more British all the time. Roll Eyes

Style du jour will just be a single braid, I think. Nothing special. Although after seeing the long braids on the creatures in Avatar last night, I don't want anyone to think I'm trying to copy the movie. Tongue

Hair: CWC with an ACV rinse, then a coffee rinse at the very end. All of the dye seems to have washed out, but the texture is still extremely tangle-prone. Angry Even my leave-ins don't help as much as they used to. I wish I had time to deep condition once a week.

Anyroad, today I braided, yesterday I didn't. A few days ago, I tried my signature twisted updo - first one since the trim. Found it's much easier to gather my hair into a high ponytail while remaining upright than flipping my hair upside down and putting a ponytail in at the top of my head. Much less of a hassle too.

Picked up a drawer organizer to help organize the tools and accessories in my hair drawer. Heh heh...you know you're obsessed when...

Etc.: Just realized it's Friday already. The days all seem to run together without a steady work schedule and it's easy to lose track.

My friend T was messing with the super bright flash feature on my camera phone while we were at a coffeehouse a few nights ago and snapped this winning shot of yours truly. He said I looked like The Joker.

Why so serious?

It had to happen, I guess. Oy.

Must've decided to take a shower too late in the day because halfway through it, my sister's bf started rattling the bathroom door off of its hinges and yelling at me to get out because he needed a shower too. Angry After about the 3rd (4th?) time, I yelled back at him to bugger off. Then, the games began.
Immediately, the water temperature began fluctuating between warmish and ice cold. Then, it turned off completely. *sigh* We're back to this crap again, are we? It's an old trick. My parents used to do this to me constantly the last time I lived with them. It didn't make me go faster then, and it won't now. Apparently, my sister's guy can't resist control games either.
When they oh-so-generously allowed the water to come back on, I hastily finished and got out of there...but not without first coating the bottom of the bathtub with 2 mini bottles of their fancy bamboo crème conditioner, hoping that when he did get his precious 5 minute shower, he'd slip and fall right on his fat scuffer butt. ...
"There is ever a flaw, however, in the best laid of human plans..." For all of his fussing, he never went in to have a shower so I'll have to clean in there before tomorrow. Angry
Needless to say, my opinion of the guy (I certainly won't say man) has dropped a few notches.

Ahem. Decided to toss the tea-infused Kenra/Suave Kids leave-in spray and go back to my beloved Pantene Detangling. Ahhh...
Also decided to nix the coffee and tea rinses until my hair's natural silky texture returns. It's still not 100%, but it's coming back. Clarifying tomorrow might help...if I'm bloody able to do so without interruption. Angry

Hair has stayed down all day. I might do a S&D before the night is through.

Anyroad, that's what's going on in Angel's realm for the moment. Another painful reminder of how badly I need to move out again.

Peace.

Trisha: Hear, hear. Angry

Curlgirl: Grin That's brilliant. Wish I'd thought of that.

Hair: Clarified yesterday (without interruption) with the Pantene/Herbal Essences clarifying blend and a DWV rinse. Began using Pantene Volume conditioner. The only leave-in was Pantene Detangling. Style was a single braid, which came in handy when the family went to Disneyland for the night. My mother and sister took turns playing with my braid - my mother said that it was so neat and even that it looked to have been done by a machine.
My father couldn't resist a few "Hop Sing" comments. Roll Eyes

Today was a CWC with an ACV rinse. Began using Pantene Volume shampoo. Leave-ins were Pantene Detangling spray on the length and FX serum on the ends. Measured in today at 27.5" and my hair has stayed down all day. My new mission is to restore its texture. I'll definitely think twice before coloring ever again. Angry

Etc.: As mentioned above, we went to Disneyland last night: my parents, my sister and her bf, and myself. My friend (haha I almost typed "fiend") T met us up there for a total of 6.
We started the evening off at Ariel's Grotto for cocktails and appetizers. My parents have this thing about getting lobster nachos there every time they go. Tongue I don't touch the stuff, so I ordered the artichoke dip and pretty soon everyone else at the table was diving into it, and even ordered another. Grin
For the record, my drink was non-alcoholic, though I probably don't really need to mention that.

Anywho, we were able to get on one ride at Disney's CA Adventure, which was a Toy Story 3-D game ride, after which my sis & I Scoused about 5 pairs of 3-D glasses. Roll Eyes

Then, it was over to the main park for more rides. Space Mountain was first and everyone had different ideas for what to do for the picture at the end. My father and my sister's bf both acted like they were sleeping, my sister pretended to throw up in her purse, I put on a pair of the stolen 3-D glasses and put my hands over my mouth and T pretended to be on his cell phone. We should buy some of the pix we get on that ride, I swear.

Anyway, after a few more rides, the park closed and after saying goodbye to T, I embarked on the 2 hour drive home in my mother's SUV with her riding shotgun and everyone else zonked in the back. It was a decent drive - hardly anyone else on the road and decent music on the radio (most of the time). That's one of the things I love most. Give me music and an open road and I'll drive forever, especially at night.

Anyway, we made it to bed around 2 AM.

Today, I've been shopping. Couldn't resist. And my CD's arrived today. That was quick. Cheesy

Drear: You grew up in CA and have never had nachos. Okey dokey...

Hair: Heavy overnight ELOO treatment last night. WCC this morning with the Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition trio that I got for Christmas. Leave-ins were Pantene Detangling and more ELOO. Was intentionally heavy handed with the latter. Spent all day air drying, and I just got it all back in a braid.

Etc.: ...
My name is Angel and I'm a nail polish addict. Roll Eyes
Picked up a few more today, including a new Maybelline color called Denim Dash, which actually looks nothing like denim, but is a gorgeous cobalt blue. It may be the next one I put on whenever I get around to doing a new manicure. Perhaps Friday.

In Macy's this afternoon, a wangsta guy stopped me on my way out, "Miss?"
I reluctantly turned to face him.
"You dropped your smile," he said. Ugh, really? I think my only response was something between an exaspirated chuckle and a sigh before making a quick exit. Behind me, I could hear him calling with a cocky tone, "Like that?"
Yeah, I like that. Try it on all the ladies. Dork. ...

I apologize for the misunderstanding there.  I've had nachos, we can buy them here too but it's the dips I haven't had.  I've been pretty conservative with tomato salsa, sour cream, cheese, and guacamole.

Trisha: Correct, wangsta = wannabe gangsta, more specifically a white, suburban-raised wannabe gangsta. Roll Eyes

Drear: Your loss. Roll Eyes

Hair: CWC last 2 days. Still using Suave daily clarifying light conditioner with Pantene Volume S&C.
Pantene Detangling leave-in spray on the length both days, ELOO on the ends; although yesterday, I allowed my hair to air dry completely before applying the ELOO.
Yesterday's style was a single braid. Today....eh. We'll see what happens once it's finished drying.

Etc.: My sister's watching some TV show about teenage murderers, including the cowardly $#&% who shot up our old high school. Hard to believe he'll be eligible for parole in 2052...or ever, for that matter. Angry I can only hope that prison life offers him a taste of hell before he goes there permanently...and I hope he finds it much worse than he imagined.

Ahem. Predictably, I have come down sick yet again. Angry It isn't too bad; more of an inconvenience than anything else, though it hurts to talk or sing at the moment. I don't talk much anyway, so it's not a huge deal. Just a pain in the arse.

Anyone have thoughts on the "We Are The World" remake yet? I dunno how I feel about the supposed new hip hop sound. Of course, I'm going to try to be objective and withhold judgment until I've heard it for myself in its entirety. Just hope is isn't too dreadfully ghetto. Undecided
Although, if Kanye West is involved, what more can we expect? "Ima letchu sing...but Beyoncé had one of the best solos of all time!" Roll Eyes

What else...? Definitely need a new manicure tomorrow, job market still sucks, might have to relocate, decided to keep the linear 1928 earrings that I'd planned to return.

TTFN.

Sorry you are sick, and that the job woes are continuing to hound you. On the very slightly bright side, relocating for a job would mean no longer having to booby trap the bathroom?

My lack of culture strikes again. Can't say that I even knew there was a, I'm guessing song? called We Are The World, let alone a remake.

Get well soon!

I hope you get well soon.  Are those art deco style earrings?

Hmmm...I remember a Danish collaboration like 'We Are The World' came out first then the international/American music community caught on and did 'We Are The World' I can't even remember the title or lyrics to the Danish collaboration.  I didn't know there was going to be a remake.  I know who those two artists are by name but I usually only listen to new music no one else listens to or old music no one else listens to any more. Drear: Thanx for the well wishes. No, the earrings aren't art deco. The company describes their style as "gothic". ...

"We Are The World" certainly wasn't the first charity single, nor was it the first to be remade, but it was probably the most famous. Didn't know there was a Danish collaboration, but I don't follow Danish music.

KNS: Thanx for the sympathy. I do appreciate it. And thanx for the compliment on my new av. Smiley
Yes, relocating would mean I'd have my own bathroom. No booby trapping required! Grin

And yes, "We Are The World" was a single written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie and recorded by tons of famous people in 1985 for African famine relief. You might be just young enough not to remember it, though it was a pop culture phenomenon.

For anyone else who has spent the last 25 years living on another planet:

The new version premiers on television February 12th before the Winter Olympics and will benefit victims of the Haiti earthquake.

Hair: Another heavy ELOO treatment overnight. Washed out this morning with Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition shampoo, which is essentially a slimecoat. Roll Eyes I had hoped to do a conditioning treatment this morning while my mother & sister were out working the horses, but they never went. Sad So I squeezed the extra water out of my hair with a microfiber towel, applied loads of Triple Nutrition 3-Minute Undo and left it in my hair until the end of my shower as a sort of mini-treatment. Finished with Triple Nutrition conditioner.

Leave-ins are the same as yesterday. Pantene Detangling on the length, ELOO on the ends. Hair has been down all day, and I suspect it will stay that way.

Etc.: Nails are now a deep cobalt blue with a subtle glitter topcoat. Glitter wasn't part of the original plan, but became necessary after I was ordered to do the dishes before my nails were dry (thus ruining a perfect manicure). So I swept a little more cobalt blue over the damaged areas, then applied a clearcoat with a subtle sparkle to hide any flaws. Finished with a regular clearcoat and voilà.
Ok, so cobalt blue nails with glitter on top is totally high school, but it honestly isn't that bad. The glitter is extremely fine and sparse and only visible under certain light. This is me being insecure over nothing as usual. Roll Eyes

My sister has decided that she wants to go to an 18+ honkytonk for her b-day tomorrow. Here we go. Roll Eyes
Not that I think it will be too nightmarish, I've just become extremely jaded with the honkytonk scene over the years. I grew up in it. I was there in its heyday and I watched it deteriorate to its current condition, and it's probably because of that that I find no joy in it now. I don't drink, I'm not looking to hook up with some random, drunk cowboy for the night and it's probably been years since I've linedanced or anything like that. Not that any of the "new country" music is worth dancing to anyway.
But we'll see. Maybe mommy will buy me a Shirley Temple and I'll get out and do an electric slide with the girls and feel like I'm 14 again. With my sparkly blue nails. Roll Eyes Anyway...

At the moment, I'm contemplating walking nearly 6 miles, instead of driving, to drop off my UI claim at the post office. With the hills and the cold air and everything, it could be quite a trek, though I could probably use the exercise. Plus, my car has no gas at the moment. What's the worst that could happen? I'll get sick? I'm already sick. Tongue
Decisions, decisions...

I was against the remake for a myriad of reasons.  The main one being that Michael isnt' around to participate.  Secondly, when I saw some of the singers they've enlisted, I wanted to barf.

However, I came to the conclusion that this "remake" is being done to light a fire under another generation.  It's being done for charity.

I think a re release of the original would be cool, but the younger kids may not relate to it (not being familiar with the original singers) and therefore may not even like it, which wouldn't benefit the charity.  So in the name of charity.  If the kids like it, buy it, and the money helps a lot of people, so be it.

Although, the first one will always be my favorite and I haven't even heard the remake yet.

I also think that Michael would be honored that this is being done.  He worked with Kanye West and The Black Eye Peas for the Thriller anniversary remix.  Personally, I didn't like it.  I never liked most of his colaborations (outside of Paul McCartney) but he seemed okay with the contemporary artists so, who am I to say?

Anyway, did you see "This Is It" yet?  The would be perfomances I'm sure would've been great, but my favorite parts are when he speaks and gives his opinions... sometimes in diva like fashion. I love it! Smiley

I like those earrings.  I think they have Whitby jet appeal.

I can't comment on the evolution of the honky tonk sound since I've probably only heard some of the post WWII stuff.  I stopped listening to bluegrass and country in the mid 90s and I still prefer the bluegrass and country from the early-70s I grew up on.  I only regularly listen to Emmylou Harris from the 70s.

Ah, that would explain it.
I did grow up on another planet.  Grin
No, seriously. I appall all of my coworkers and friends with my blatant lack of any kind of culture or cultural knowledge/history.
For all intents and purposes, I crawled out from under a rock sometime around 2000.

I will be interested in hearing the remake.

I also say go for the walk! If you're not busy today, and you take it easy, (and it's not 2 feet of snow like it is here) walking can be very very nice.  Smiley

La Diosa: Nope, I still haven't seen This Is It. I'm half hoping that my sister will get the DVD or something. Undecided And I agree about inspiring charity in the younger gens, but couldn't they have just as easily done that with an original song? Remakes are almost never as good as the originals and it's always disappointing to see crappy new versions of timeless classics.

Drear: Early 70's country was hokey as heck, though most of it was at least country, which is more than can be said for the crap that wears the label now.
Bluegrass, fortunately, is a timeless style, like classical. It sounds the same regardless of which decade it's played in. But you'll never hear bluegrass in a honkytonk.

KNS: How sad to impose limits on yourself. Bless your heart.
Went for the walk last night. All 5-6 miles of it, in the rain. It was glorious...except for the blisters on my toes and the creeper who kept asking questions. Tongue

Hair: Kept it down while walking last night and the rain and the hood of my jacket wound it into a giant rat's nest. Angry It's alright now, though, after a good CWC and the usual leave-ins. It's still a bit damp, as it's wont to be on rainy days. Not that I'm complaining.
Not sure what I'll do with it tonight but it will need some type of contained style.

Etc.: My little sis has spent most of the day shopping online. Earlier today, I hung her giftbag on the end of my guitar and went into her room to sing her Happy Birthday with a little bass accompaniment. Cheesiness is big in this family. Roll Eyes But she got a kick out of it and she loves the CD's I gave her.
Tonight, we're off to the club with our 18-year-old cousin and a bunch of my sister's friends. The music will suck, no doubt, but I keep earplugs in my purse. Roll Eyes

The 'rents have declared today a cleaning day, so I'd best go and finish the bathroom and dishes, lest mum unleash another 3-hour rant. ...

Embarrassed
I'm not trying to impose limitations on myself.
My range of cultural experience is just about the same as a 10 year old. Didn't really grow up with radio or TV or anybody who was culturally connected with the US in the 70's 80's and 90's. So, cultural awareness didn't really happen until I'd left home for college. Now. I could probably rival you on radio hits from the 30's and 40's.  Roll Eyes

Glad to hear you enjoyed your walk. Friends and I used to take longish walks in the rain when we were in college. It was very relaxing.

True, true...I guess we can't all grow up in the cultural mélange south of Tinseltown and have musical lineages. Dahling. Cool Gawd, you did not just pull the "underprivileged kid" card. Roll Eyes Ignorance is a choice, my dear, nothing more. Wink

Quote:
Now. I could probably rival you on radio hits from the 30's and 40's. Roll Eyes

Is that so? I didn't realize there was a competition. Roll Eyes Are you into standards, traditional, big band, swing, neo-classical? Or are you more a Harlem jazz type gal? Perhaps a bit of everything? It really doesn't surprise me, though, considering that you live in the city which gave us the first commercial radio station.
A few years ago, I had the occasion to attend a going away party for a Los Angeles-based vintage radio station when it went off the air. It was held on Catalina Island in a building called The Casino, which is rarely open to the public. Huge brass band, lots of old swing tunes and standards. Quite the shindig. No doubt you'd have loved it. Wink I wish that the pictures I took had come out clearly...not that they'd do it justice.
As it happens, 2 of my father's favourite XM Radio stations are 30's on 3 and 40's on 4, so I listen to them often if I happen to be in his car. He's actually kind of obsessed with anything pertaining to that era...it's cute. So yep, I more or less know where you're coming from.

Hair: Must clarify. Today. The texture of my hair must have recovered from coloring by now, though the ends are still a bit wonky. They don't seem to want to cooperate with serum or ELOO, as if they're determined to remain dry out of spite or something. I mustn't be so impulsive with my hair if it's going to hold grudges. Roll Eyes

Thus, it will be the usual clarifying routine today. Pantene/Herbal Essences clarifying shampoo blend, DWV rinse, conditioner, leave-in spray, single braid. This might be the highlight of my day.

Etc.: Ended up not going to the cowboy club with my sister and the gang last night since a.) I'd forgotten about the cover charge, and b.) was starting to feel run down again. Turned out to be a sort of omen because I woke up feeling like crap again this morning. ... Not sure if this is Act 2 or just a lousy encore.
Everyone else seemed to have a good time though. They all drank, danced and rode the mechanical bull. Well, except for my cousin...she didn't drink.

Anyroad, as much as I'd love to get out and do something today, the fates just won't allow it. So, it's another day sitting home, being sick and surfing the web. Ah, the glamorous rock & roll life... ...

Hair: Pretty sure I showered in record time this morning after getting into a semi-homeless frame of mind. Applied Pantene Volume conditioner from the ears down and washed the scalp with the matching shampoo. Rinsed both out simultaneously, then threw my hair into a shower cap while finishing the rest. This might actually be a good way to get rid of the current stash of products in my room. I'll need to toughen up a bit before I'm able to simulate actual beach showers in my bathroom...jet spray, cold water only. It may come in handy should homelessness ever become a reality.

The usual leave-ins and single braid. Hair seems to be behaving in the usual manor.

Etc.: Spent the entire day cleaning my room, stripping it almost entirely of clutter and décor. Not a skull in sight. Sad But the fact is I'd rather have all of my own stuff safely stored in one place to make a quick exit easier if I end up getting kicked out of my parents' house for whatever reason. Not saying it will or won't happen, just that I'd rather be prepared. Besides, I'd rather save all of it for when I eventually have my own place again, where my property will be respected. That and it will complement the rest of my décor, which is also patiently waiting for the chance to spring out of its storage boxes and transform even the most boring, beige apartment chamber into a spoooookie haven. It'll happen. Hopefully sooner than later. Undecided

For now, the guest room that I stay in is simply that. An Edwardian guest room in my parents' house, devoid of clutter and any major hints of its current inhabitant's personality.

Curlgirl: Precisely.

La Diosa: Same here. I can admit to being a bit of a neat freak...I've always said it beats the alternative. Roll Eyes People have complimented my room when I thought it was a complete disaster. Call me anything but lazy. Roll Eyes

Hair: Another CW...is that the technical term for it? Well it is now. Pantene Volume conditioner on the length, matching shampoo on the scalp, rinsed out together.
Leave-ins were Pantene Detangling & ELOO. I was a bit heavy handed with the latter on purpose. Since my hair doesn't get the same level of conditioning with the CW method, I can compensate with extra oil or serum.

Did a S&D for an hour on the back right quarter of my hair. At first, I didn't think it would make much of a difference, but there are noticeably fewer L-shaped ends poking out in that area. Success. Smiley My mission is to devote as much time to the other 3 sections over the next 3 days. I could see doing this once a month if necessary.

Etc.: To state the obvious, it sucks to be broke. Particularly when the weather is beautiful and you want nothing more than to go running around town in it, but you're out of gas and your car is in desperate need of maintenance. Such is life.

Still no luck with the job search, obviously. The local unemployment rate is at an all time high, so I at least have the reassurance of not being alone. I can only imagine how tough it must be for the people who have much bigger obligations than I do, like house payments and kids.

Sigh...

Blaaah. Just a quick check-in.

Finally got sick of the "homeless" routine and resumed my old showering habits. I'm a bit high maintenance, sure, but it's somewhat reassuring to know that I can scrape by if necessary.

Washed my hair root to tip with Pantene Volume shampoo and followed with an ACV rinse. Conditioned once with Pantene Moisture Renewal & once more with Herbal Essences Long Term Relationship conditioners.
Pantene Detangling leave-in spray on the length and ELOO on the ends. Was a bit heavy handed with the latter again when I didn't need to be. In fact, I probably should have used serum instead. Oops. Undecided

The job market is still absolute crap. Thank God for unemployment. Speaking of which, I need to get my broke arse to the bank. Catch yous layta.

Hair: CWC both yesterday & today with the usual leave-ins. The end treatment always seems to be heavy handed and overdone, whether it's serum or ELOO. Undecided So braids have been a necessity. Undecided
So far as this month's S&D project, I only have half of my hair done. Unlike most people here, I don't have hours of free time to spend snipping my hair, nor the patience for it even if I had. Taking breaks, it seems, is inevitable. Undecided So long as I get it all done before the month is over...

Etc.: Spent last night watching the opening ceremony for the Winter Olympics and then a few movies with my sister when she came home. The past few evenings, in fact, have been movie nights, which is quite unusual for me. I'm not a "spend ungodly amounts of time in front of the TV" kind of person. Thursday, we watched This Is It; last night, it was The Notebook and PS. I Love You; tonight, it should be Tristan & Isolde. Nothing like catching each other up on tragic chick flicks. Roll Eyes

Earlier this afternoon, I was out running errands all over town with my sis and was able to find her a new purse on sale that she's absolutely in love with. Ivory faux snakeskin. Heh.
In the car, she enlightened me to the fact that guys pick their noses while driving...all the time. If they happen to catch her looking, she'll make a really disgusted face and embarrass the crap out of them. Grin Something to keep in mind.

Tomorrow, I'm off to a local English pub for music trivia night with my friend, T.  It didn't even register to either of us at first that it will be Valentine's Day. Suppose we may as well disregard it together since neither of us are spoken for. Roll Eyes

Anyroad, my nails need redone if I'm to make a public appearance tomorrow. Cheers!

Hair: Began the week with the usual clarifying routine. The only leave-in was Pantene Detangling spray starting about halfway down the length.
Gave another section of my hair the S&D treatment. Only one quarter left and I'm done for the month.
Style du jour is a single braid.

Tomorrow, I've decided, will be a total hair day since my parents are out of town. I'm going to wash, do an ACV rinse, then a conditioning treatment, then condition. Hopefully finish my S&D mission if the mood strikes and I have time.

Etc.: Decided against the pub tonight, but my nails are indeed redone in high quality black with a silver sparkle topcoat. Rock & roll. Wink

A 4.5 earthquake in Baja shook the house a bit today. Heh. They're predicting a bigger one before the 22nd.

As for V-day, not much to report. I got a card and a ton of candy from the 'rents as well as an evening to myself. Ahh...
Happy Heart Day, folks. ...

Hair: Mixed up another shampoo blend yesterday - hopefully the second to last one I'll ever do. Pantene Volume with TRESemmé Anti-Breakage. Washed root to tip yet again and followed with an ACV rinse.
Decided to use my parents' shower this morning and forgot to bring my own shower cap, so I had to use my mum's. And I swear, every time I have to use a showerhead other than my own, it makes me all the more grateful for mine. All other showerheads seem grossly inferior. I must remember to get another one before I move out.

But anyway, since my parents were still at Disneyland this morning, I was finally able to do a deep conditioning treatment for the first time in God knows how long. Left it in for an hour, then rinsed and chased with my mother's John Frieda Radiant Red conditioner, which is an opaque red gel that could basically double as fake blood. Grin

Today's only leave-in was Pantene Detangling, and I sprayed on a little less than usual. Even still, the ends of my hair are quite slick with gunk. Tongue So there's the problem - not the end treatments, but the spray conditioner. Perhaps I should switch back to Suave Kids. Undecided

Anyroad, no style today as yet. For the past few days, it's been the usual single braid if anything.

As for using my mum's shower cap, it's cloth lined and ended up getting wet, so I've set it in the backyard, in the sun, so it can dry. Undecided

Etc.: What a dreadfully boring day. All I've done so far is clean up the house, look for work and gorge on V-day goodies. Tongue
Of course, it could be much worse, so I'll count my blessings for now.

Hair: CWC + Detangling spray. No style. It's been down all day for the wind to have its way with. Oddly enough, it isn't tangled that badly.

Wasn't Shaun's routine fenominal? I was watching that, the skiing with Lindsay Vonn and the men's hockey.
When I spoke with my mother I was shocked to learn that she knew who he was and what he did!!  She knew about him before he won the gold.  My mother is 70.  Not too shabby for being hip at 70!

Curlgirl: He did quite well, yeah. Lindsay Vonn did too.

Hair: Friday WTC. It's been awhile since I could make that claim. Wink My mother and sister went to work horses this morning, so I had time. I've learned that I can get away with about 45-50 minutes of a conditioning treatmet before they come back from the ranch, which is better than not treating at all. Between random deep conditioning treatments while the family is away and overnight heavy oilings, my hair might get the moisture it needs after all.
Although, I must confess that I don't care much for the new shampoo blend I made. The TRESemmé seems to be very drying, just as I remember, so I might just dump the mix, go back to my diluted Ice Shine and save the TRESemmé crap for non-hair cleaning. Tongue
Ice Shine. Hehe. That makes me smile.

Anyway, today's leave-ins were Pantene Detangling spray and Kenra serum. The latter of which is too heavy and made my hair stringy and greasy looking. Tongue It may have to get dumped as well. I only bought it for the bottle anyway. Roll Eyes

Hair: Nothing yet. It's Saturday and I'm not a morning person. 'Nough said.

Hair: CWC with an ACV rinse. Leave-ins were Pantene Detangling spray and Kenra serum. The latter isn't terribly heavy as I managed to only use a small drop. In fact, my hair is behaving so well today that it would be a shame to have to put it up, which I'll end up doing if I wear my hoodie out.

Etc.: Yesterday, my eyes were assaulted by what appeared to be boogers on one of the walls in my shower. ... As though my sister's bf had done a farmer blow in there (which would be bad enough) and not cleaned up afterwards. Ah, the joys of having another male roommate. ...
Not that I'm accusing him of anything. I'm not saying that's what happened, just what appeared to have happened. Either way, I spent part of last night cleaning in there, singing to the tune of Echo & The Bunnymen's Pictures On My Wall, "booooogers on my waaaaall....are about to melt and faaall....blow it...all....blow it...aaaaaaall..."
Anyway, just thought I'd share. You're welcome. Roll Eyes

On a totally different note, the weather here has been tolerable, not breaking 70°F, with occasional bouts of rain. Much more appropriate for February than the pseudo-summer we had last week.

That's about it for now. Back to music and other diversions for weekend ennui. *dance*

You're not good and you certainly aren't very much fun
When I see you walking down the street,
I step on your hand and I mangle your feet
You're not the kind of person that I'd even want to meet
'Cause you're so vicious
Baby, you're so vicious

Just got caught up with your photos.  They're great.  My uncle sent me photos of plants and flowers that are already coming out of the ground in Ojai.  I enjoyed your photos.  I'm envious, not jealous.  I'm glad you have such fantastic nature around you though I appreciate different kinds of nature and quite like the nature around here as well.  Oh, and I don't hate you. Trisha: Interesting results. Wink

Drear: Thanx, but aren't jealous & envious roughly the same thing? It's good to not be hated. Roll Eyes

Hair: The usual routine. CWC + Detangling spray + serum. Meh. One of these days, I'll get around to doing a S&D on the last section of my hair.

Etc.: Participated in a random online Q&A sesh with Apolo Ohno this morning. That was fun. Also found out that one of my fave bands were (supposedly) releasing their US tour dates today. Stoke! Cheesy

The good mood was short lived, however. My father barged into my room with another car bill, informed me that I probably only had a few more unemployment checks coming and said that he would sell my car if I could no longer afford it. Of course, he took the usual domineering, threatening tone. Sigh...

Thus, I spent the rest of the day despondent, frantically searching for work and contemplating everything from relocation to suicide. Not fun.
Then, I looked up UI procedures in my state and found that extensions were automatic, so I'll hopefully be safe a bit longer. Hopefully. Undecided Da[r]n this recession!
Since my mother is living on unemployment as well, I thought I'd relay the news...which was naturally met with her usual blend of skepticism, imminent doom and false accusations. ... You're welcome, mother.

Once again retreating to my chamber, I threw my hands up. I can't control how they are, nor did I make them that way. It isn't my fault. And while I may not be able to ignore their negative bs completely, I don't have to be swallowed by it.

Tomorrow, I'm returning a lady's call about a job. My nails are stripped and clipped with the tips rounded. Short, clean and natural...just in case I get called in for an interview.
It's crucial to remain positive and focused. Think positive, do positive. Anything's possible.

Trisha: Thanks, lady. Smiley

Hair: Another CWC today. Leave-ins were Pantene Detangling spray and ELOO. The latter is a bit heavy, but it's alright. It went into a twisted updo as soon as it was dry.

Etc.: No interview today. My contact person flaked. Angry Whatever. At least I held up my end of the bargain.
Sent out 2 more résumés to different companies that seem to be a better match for me anyway. Didn't miss a beat. No regrets. Wink

Drear: Our weather? You can have it. Tongue Most people consider it ideal, but I'm not most people. Plus, I've lived in it for 30 years - it's time for a change!

As for the interview, it actually happened today. The contact person finally called me back at round 6 PM last night and scheduled an interview for this morning, saying it would take between 45-60 minutes. 5 grueling hours later, I returned home, having been informed that the position was temporary. Angry
They did tell me that I had a very professional demeanor and appearance, and looked like I belonged in the arts. Roll Eyes Thanks for noticing.

Hair: Hmm. Didn't have time to clarify today since I had an interview, so I'll do that tomorrow. Maybe do a heavy overnight ELOO treatment tonight.
This morning, it was the same ol' routine. CWC + Detangling spray + Kenra serum. My hair hadn't finished drying by the time I had to leave, so I wound it into a bun and pinned it in place. The classic corporate "I have no time" style.
As of now, it's down and looking a right mess like the rest of me. Whatever. Roll Eyes It's not like I have to see anyone.

Etc.: Sent out another résumé today. Now I'm waiting for footage from the 500 m (short track) heats to air. So hoping Apolo Ohno wins big on Friday.

Dressed up like a million dollar trooper
Tryin' hard to look like Alice Cooper
...
Super duper Cool

As I tweeted this morning, "You know your day's going to be epic when you start it with Baked Ruffles and spinach dip at 7AM..." Huh

Been laying in bed listening to the rain. A waste of time, I know. I'd rather be out in it, but I haven't even bothered to shower yet. It's Saturday and it's supposed to rain all day, so I don't have to hurry.

Did a heavy overnight ELOO treatment last night, so I'll be washing that out. Yesterday, I was able to refresh my Pantene supply, so I'll now be using Ice Shine S&C - the former slightly diluted. I'm falling in love with wintry, watery products again. Picked up Suave Ocean Breeze conditioner yesterday too, as my Daily Clarifying stuff will soon run out.
So that's the plan today. WCC and the usual leave-ins. Detangling spray and maybe a little serum. Yesterday's only leave-in was ELOO on the ends, which rendered my hair a tangled, static-ridden mess. Tongue Spray conditioner is absolutely essential. No exceptions.

The battle of ELOO vs. serum for end treatments wages on. I'll use them interchangeably depending on whichever one I think would work best that day. In general, I think I prefer serum, but ELOO has its benefits. Whether those benefits could be gained with oil-free substitutes, I'm uncertain. But right now, I have ample supplies of both, so I'll continue to use both.

At Target yesterday, I found the cutest top. A black burnout tee with scrolly designs & silver jewels on the front - every bit as cute as anything Express makes, at about half the price. Had to have it.
Hope to shop a bit today as well. I need more gothy crafting supplies to customize my wardrobe. Hehehe. Wink

Fisher2: Photobucket.

Hair: CWC. Broke in the new Suave Ocean Breeze light conditioner this morning in what turned out to be a rather dismal shower. I'd forgotten to restock with new loofah sponges and a new shower cap, so I had to go without both and just sort of improvise...which didn't go very well. Undecided Ended up having to rinse the final conditioner out too early and I know I got some of my bodywash in my hair before all was said and done. Well, let's nevermind what was said anyway. Lips Sealed
Made sure to use Pantene Detangling spray conditioner and ELOO for leave-ins to combat whatever dryness may have resulted.

Stating the obvious, today is measure day and I came in at 28" this month. On one hand, I'm grateful to be back at this length. On the other hand, I realize I might not reach 30" by July as I'd been hoping. So the question of whether I'll see waist length this year remains. Undecided

Early this morning, before I went walking, I ran my fingers through my hair and twisted it into a scrunchie bun. Now it's braided. Oh, and since today is the first of March, I obviously never finished last month's S&D mission. Epic fail. Embarrassed Hopefully, I'll be more on the ball this month.

Etc.: Sewed different buttons on a shirt this afty - black on burgundy. The old buttons were burgundy. It rather embarrasses me that I haven't done anything that creative with my wardrobe in awhile. Embarrassed Hope to make a few hairtoys soon, after I've drawn up designs and gathered the necessary supplies.

Trisha: Hehe. Ya hippie. Wink

Hair: Another CWC this morning. Leave-ins were Pantene Detangling spray & ELOO. Style was a flipped ponytail.

Etc.: Just returned from shopping, and...

Shocked Did my sister's bf seriously just call her a b****?! I better have misheard. ...

Ahem. Brought home a bunch of new odds and ends. Hoping it all works out well enough. More importantly, I bothered to put myself together before going out today, despite an obstinate complexion.
Cleaned all of my makeup brushes over the weekend, so it was the first time I'd gotten to use them since. I've gone back to using regular pink blush...for now. Roll Eyes The blue & purple are being ignored. What, did you think goths used bronzer?? Grin

Speaking of makeup, I saw this poster at Nordy's today and couldn't help but grin.
...
Cyndi & Gaga for MAC's Viva Glam. Awesome.

Also noticed that Victoria's Secret is making a new version of my favourite brassiere. Had to get one. They also have a new perfume called Love Rocks that I totally dig. I may stop shunning them after all. Roll Eyes

Hair: Washed the entire length this morning with diluted Pantene Ice Shine and followed with an ACV rinse. First conditioning was Ice Shine, second was Suave Ocean Breeze.
Leave-ins were Pantene Detangling and Kenra serum, and even though I used both, my hair was still a bit dry on the ends, which resulted in at least one nasty little tangle. Undecided
It's all back in a single braid now, which works with the hooded sweatshirt I'm wearing.

Etc.: Returned some items from yesterday's little shopping spree and bought some others (cheaper). Got a new sports bra at Target since I've had my old one since high school. One can only guess what sort of shape it's in. Tongue
Speaking of exercise, I got a good 30 minutes in this morning since I knew I wouldn't have time tonight.
Jumped on the scale this morning and was horrified. I'm only 5 lbs. away from the heaviest I've ever been in my life. ... Unacceptable. So I need all the exercise I can get. If it's the meds that are causing it, though, there's not much I can do.

But yes, tonight...another jam sesh with the boys. They call it "rehearsal" though we're not rehearsing for anything. There are no upcoming shows or anything like that. The band is purely a social thing, which it has been for awhile and probably always should have been...though we've had at least one show that wasn't totally regrettable. I'm rambling now. Lips Sealed

Anyroad, something smells really good right now and my fat arse is hoping it's coming from our kitchen, so I'm off to check it out. Peace!

Drear: VS fragrances are awesome! You're missing out.
As far as life expectancy goes, it depends on the bra. Some can last several years without a problem, but be prepared to drop some major green on them. My little rule is if it's uncomfortable, not fitting well or not doing its job anymore, toss it.

Hair: CWC with Suave Ocean Breeze conditioner and Pantene Ice Shine S&C. Applied the usual leave-ins of Pantene Detangling spray to the length and ELOO to the ends. Intentionally overdid the latter, so the last few inches of my hair came out quite greasy. About 80 zillion bobby pins later, it's all twisted up in a crazy updo.

Music: Last night's jam was typically uninspiring. Don't get me wrong, I love each and every one of those guys; I'm just sick of the same old tired tunes. Stagnation is the kiss of death for any band.

No excuses for why I haven't posted any of these yet. They're from our new music room/hangout area at Lizard's place, taken 2 weeks ago.

The new music room, fully remodeled and expanded: (and a few of the turkeys I jam with). As of yesterday, there were angels painted above the window and the drum kit was moved to the right corner.
...

The big black iron chandelier in the middle of the room: it has flickering flame lights, which is just too awesome.
...

A patio sitting area outside and down a flight of stairs from the music room: complete with a fireplace, of course.
...

Down another flight of stairs to the wine cellar:
...

And the bar:
...

Back in the music room, I found this leaning against a wall. A painting done by Lizard. Our hardcore fans (like we have any) will recognize this as the cover art of the first album, back when the band was only 2 people:
...

Etc.: After a few days of wear, I've decided that the Sally Hansen Salon color Purple Pulse is too bright and horribly scene. Tongue Haven't decided whether I'll add black to it to darken it or just paint it over black or very dark purple in the future.

In other news, still waiting for my federal refund. Gotta love this government. Angry

Alright, it smells like dinner is almost done, so I'm off to join the family in the living room for Mexican lasagna, Wheel Of Fortune and Jeopardy. After that, I'll return to my chamber to sweat it out to the usual blend of dark alternative.
Peace.

Drear: Sure thing. The rest of Lizard's property is fashioned the same way. Like a SoCal hacienda.

Trisha: Meh. I've seen Plum Luck and wasn't impressed. Truth be told, I already have about 90,000 shades of plum, but very few true purples.

Hair: Wound it into a scrunchie bun to go for another power walk this morning. When I got home I took it down, combed it out, then did a WCC in the shower. My diluted Pantene Ice Shine shampoo will soon be gone, but I plan to keep the bottle and just refill it.
Ice Shine conditioner has a bit longer, but I'm not overawed with it. Too thin. My hair definitely needs more moisture in a conditioner than Ice Shine provides. Guess I'll be sticking with Moisture Renewal until I become grotesquely rich and can afford Restoratives again.

Again, leave-ins were Pantene Detangling (which now seems to be working just fine - go fig) and ELOO. After air drying (and tangling somewhat badly) in the weather, hair is detangled and being held back with a slim, leather headband.

VS: We're friends again. Smiley Tried on a few different brassieres there this afternoon, including the kind I recently ordered, and fell in love with at least 2 of the styles. Infinitely more comfortable (not to mention supportive!) than the cheap ones I got from Target. Lesson learned...again. Roll Eyes You really do get what you pay for. Sorry but it's true.

Etc.: Finally got sketches down yesterday for the hair accessories I've been wanting to make. Now it's only a matter of getting the supplies, which I'd be happy to do if the sodding government would sodding give me my own sodding money back!
Ahem. Made a twilight drive to the posh mall in town to grab a few pix of hair accessories at places like Bebe and Nordstrom to use as both inspiration and guidelines for the ones I plan to make.

More than most anything, I love the slow rush of inspiration; when an idea sweeps over me like a wave, takes hold and becomes all I think about. Inspired ideas make a visionary. Bringing those ideas to life is what makes an artist. This is the life I lead; the life I love. It's who I am, and no matter how hard the corporate world tries to crush that, it can't.
Been thinking about that lately - about switching fields completely. Not possible at this point, but eventually, I do hope to find a job that doesn't make me want to poke my eyeballs out with sticks. One that enhances my creative nature instead of represses it, far away from the stoic office environment. Tongue

In other news, on my walk this morning, I passed a guy who was also out power walking - with his child. I couldn't help but give him a grin and a nod as if to say, "that's what I like to see." Get 'em hooked early on physical activity instead of the countless other ungodly things they could get hooked on early. Less chance of them being a lazy, self-indulgent slug later in life. Smart dad.

Anyroad, I'm off to enjoy the rest of this rainy day. My favourite weather - a gift from God. Our region sees it so rarely, it would seem ungrateful of me not to be out there appreciating it. Cheers!

Hair: CWC. Ran out of my Ice Shine S&C this morning but wasted no time refilling the bottles. Conditioner is now my trusty Moisture Renewal and shampoo is Voume mixed with water and just a pinch of body shimmer powder. I also added some liquid body shimmer that I never use to my bodywash blend. Hehehe. Sparklies! Cheesy

Anyway, I wish this morning's shower could've been half as pleasant as the products that are now in it. Halfway through, my sister's sod of a bf was pounding on the door and yelling at me through it. Apparently, this dude has never shared a bathroom before and has no concept of how to go about it in a respectful manner. Angry
Even after my mother unlocked the door, he didn't come in, so whatever he needed so badly was obviously extremely important. Angry Sod.

However, after watching him do the same thing to my sister later on, I learned not to take it so personally. Evidently, he's just rude and immature in general. He doesn't even know I keep a hair blog, so I'll say whatever I darn well please here. I know you ladies won't tell. Wink

Anywho, despite fearing that my shower would be cut short, things actually turned out alright and my hair didn't have to suffer.
Today's leave-ins were Pantene Detangling on the length and serum on the ends and underneath. I'll probably end up putting the whole mess up though because it's pretty heavily slicked. Tongue

Summary: Sparkly shower products = good, obnoxious roommates = bad.

Oh right, and my sister sneezed all over one of my combs this morning, so I'll need to clean it. Tongue

Etc.: Missed last night's power walk due to the Oscars, but I had sufficient exercise earlier that day. This morning, I power walked the 40 minute route. Exhausting!

My family (and my sister's bf) have plans to go to Disneyland later today, so I'll have the house to myself. At least for a little while. My friend T is going to try to make it into town in a few hours, so I'm trying to transform myself into Phoebe Munster (except much less attractive and with a few more piercings)...especially if we end up going downtown. I've never felt like a freak downtown. Roll Eyes

Anyway, I'm off.

Well oh well. Yesterday certainly was busy. I ended up doing 2 loads of laundry, 2 loads of dishes, putting myself together and hanging out with my buddy T that evening. We had dinner at Souplantation - neither of us had been in awhile; then hung out in a swanky area of town, by the coast. There was a Mexican restaurant that called to us with aromas of shredded beef and tortillas. They apparently serve tortilla soup on Fridays, so T is planning to come back on Friday. Roll Eyes Knucklehead.

Anywho, I ended up getting home before my family with plenty of time to spare. Naturally, they told me all about Disneyland when they got back. My father was actually disappointed that I couldn't go. And yes, they all saw Captain EO. Apparently, the theatre is somewhat interactive now and there's merchandise. I don't remember there being any merchandise when it was there the first time. Ah, we miss ya, Mike.

As to my hair, it did indeed get twisted into an updo yesterday, though it wasn't nearly as secure as usual. There were strong winds and light rain at the coast, so my "style" looked a right mess before long. When I got home, one of the bobby pins simply gave up the ghost and fell out. Roll Eyes

Today, I think it'll be another CWC and I plan to wash my seamless combs in the shower. Leave-ins should be Pantene Detangling spray and ELOO. The style du jour will be something simple, like a single braid or flipped ponytail.

Drear: Well, I never said it was comforting, did I? Just that I know not to take his rudeness so personally. He isn't rude to my parents, so he must regard me as more of a peer than an elder. Surely a mistake on his part.
As to his redeeming qualities, that's really my sister's business, not mine. I will only say that I wouldn't be with anyone who was rude to my family.

Hair: Clean slate. Clarified. Leave-ins were Pantene Detangling spray and ELOO. The latter was an accident - I don't usually apply an end treatment on clarifying days, but I spaced. Tongue Style is a single braid as usual.

Etc.: Yesterday, I was relieved to discover that the reason I haven't gotten my federal return yet is because there was a correction on it which gives me back a few hundred quid more than I was expecting. Cheesy Awesomesauce.

As for right now, I have the final batch of butterscotch oatmeal cookies in the oven and I'll be leaving to sing with the band in about an hour.

Hair: Currently a mess. Took it down from another twisted updo after getting in late last night. It needs finger combed and washed - probably a WCC.
Leave-ins should be Pantene Detangling spray and serum. Style...I'll figure that out later.

Etc.: Went to the Mexican place at the coast with friend T last night. I'd always been curious about it and now I know what it's like. Meh. T didn't even order the tortilla soup, which had been the entire purpose of his visit. Roll Eyes

Afterwards, we went and saw Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland. Again, meh. Undecided It has its strong points but also a looooot of weak points. Definitely not Burton's best. I wonder if the ol' boy might be slipping in his "old age".

However, I did learn that I can rock a very gothic face with fairly minimal makeup. Last night, it was just a bit of blue shimmer on the cheeks, forehead, chin and under the eyebrows, black eyeshadow and black lipgloss.

Nails are bare and boring at the moment. I might have to paint them this weekend. Nothing too offbeat since I may have an interview around the 18th. Maybe just a nice, dark blood red.

The sky is bright gray this morning. Just overcast enough to go power walking...but I'm not working out today. Totally figures, doesn't it? This is my kind of ironic luck in a nutshell.
Instead, I'm giving the muscles a rest for a change - allowing them to recover a bit so I can kill them again tomorrow.

As for today, Michaels is totally calling my name. I need to get some supplies together to start making my hair accessories...and I owe my sister a bracelet. Roll Eyes Cheers!

Just checking in. We had the carpets steam cleaned this morning so I haven't been in the house much. Windows are open, fans are on, shoes are off...

Anyway, I made my sister a beaded stretch bracelet (or rather, several of them, tied together with a ribbon) and my new headband finished drying today:

...
That's a heart shaped cameo outlined in silver chain under layers of black tulle and black/silver lace. My camera phone likes blurry closeups for some reason.

The only real problem with it is that the decoration is attached way too high on the headband and there's no way to move it. Angry D'oh! At least I have 2 other headbands to maim practice on.

Anywho, hair routine for the past 2 days has been the usual CWC. Leave-ins are always Detangling spray and either serum or ELOO. Today it's the former.
Style, eh...I really should put it up, especially since I'll be walking later tonight. Yesterday I never even combed it.

The seasons are changing whether I like it or not. Daylight savings is ridiculous in my opinion...and when did it become mid-March?? Didn't the month just start? Temps have been creeping back into the 70's during the day and plants are flowering already. Need I even mention the atrocities of spring fashion? Tongue How many skinny pants, baggy shirts and sodding HUGE accessories does the world really need? Really sick of the shrunken, bum freezer jackets too...wtf is up with those? Don't even get me started on capris...
Between shapeless *ahem* "styles" and hideous colours, it's enough to make any self respecting goth dive back into her closet of tailoured velvets and lace, slam the door shut and not emerge until autumn. ...

However, I like the stark contrast to the brightly coloured, misshapen mainstream that a gothic wardrobe provides. Alternative fashion for an alternative lifestyle. Simple enough. To be fair, there are rare gems to be found amid the pleats, bows and floral patterns if one bothers to look hard enough...and things can always be modified. Roll Eyes

One last thing about fashion: why must all dressing room mirrors be so brutally honest? Shocked

On that note, my fat keister is off to find itself a decent lunch and then deposit my federal return check (which finally arrived today) at the bank. Now where are my shoes...?

Hair: It's been getting very basic attention...like pretty much everything else in my life at the moment. I've been quite busy and distracted. Lots to do.
Perhaps today, I'll try to change that. At least do something more complicated with my hair. It was down all yesterday without even an end treatment. Clean but basically neglected.
Today, I'd like to do the twisted updo following my usual wash routine.

Etc.: Yes, it's early, but I finally got some decent sleep last night. Might even exercise after I'm fully awake. Haven't had much time to do that this week. Been too exhausted to exercise during the day (thank you, Mother Nature Tongue) and evenings are spent with family.

My grandfather and his gf are in town for my father's b-day (St. Patty's day), so we've all been spending time with them, hanging out in one big group. Sometimes we go out, sometimes we stay in.

Temps have been creeping back up again. It was around 90°F on Wednesday. Tongue So I've basically jumped (or rather, reluctantly dragged myself) back into summer goth mode. Bleh. But it does give me an excuse to shop for unique short sleeved tops.

What else...? I finally got my car serviced yesterday, and it was much cheaper than expected. So all's well in that department...for now.

Anyroad, time to find some breakfast. Cheers.

Hair: The usual CWC routine and the usual leave-ins of Pantene Detangling spray and ELOO recovered my hair this morning from yesterday's twisted updo.
After it dried and had been detangled, I asked my sister to take a picture for me - it's been awhile since I posted an updated photo of the length. The new one is up in the Show Off Your Locks forum.

Style du jour is a flipped ponytail.
Been thinking about getting a couple bottles of Pantene's smoothing serum and refilling them with my current end treatments. That way, I won't have big, bulky bottles taking up space in the bathroom cabinet. Also been thinking of combining my Kenra and FX serums. Ideally, I'd like to have one small bottle for oil and one small bottle for serum. Both should be Pantene bottles regardless of what's in them...because everything else I own is Pantene. Meet my neurosis. Grin

Etc.: Has anyone ever tried no yolk egg noodles? N-A-S-T-Y! Tongue

Helped my sis take her dog to the vet today. Nothing too serious, just some digestive issues.

Been ordering the entire world online and waiting (most impatiently) for the packages to arrive. 3 new CD's showed up yesterday, and my music collection has now officially outgrown its current storage arrangement - both of these facts please me to no end. Cheesy So I'm off to Best Buy today to see what kinds of music storage they have.

Speaking of which...peace.

Fisher2: You're coming along nicely, eh? Put some clothes on! Grin

Hair: Was able to do a WTC on Sunday since my parents were preoccupied with company from out of state and weren't around to harass me about it. Roll Eyes

Yesterday, the routine was a CWC. Today should be the same. Leave-ins have been Pantene Detangling spray and either ELOO or serum. I have both of the latter now stored in little Pantene serum bottles with pump tops. Much easier to operate.

Styling has been lax lately. I'll do a bun with safety pins if anything at all. On occasion, I'll experiment with pinning my hair up in different, weird ways. I like the idea of messy, tragic-looking updos, but I'm not terribly adept at making them yet. And I love the sort of wild 80's styles that were so common in the earlier days of my subculture...just a pity that they're only attainable with a lot of starchy products and backcombing. Tongue

Etc.: Weirdness. That word sums up the whole of this week, I think. It's been a pretty consistent recipe of sluggishness, obligations, out of state guests, shopping sprees, late nights and getting lectured. Subtract sleep and any motivation to work out. Stir until disoriented. Life feels a bit like a Talking Heads song at the moment.

Anyway, it's 1 PM now, which means I should finish my tea and laundry and jump in the shower. Cheers, loves!

LD: Wink

Hair: Got a fair amount of attention today. Started with a clarifying wash and a DWV rinse, then followed with an hour long deep conditioning treatment. Emptied the container and tossed it in the recycle bin. Now it's time to find one that actually works!

While my hair was "cooking", I used a pineapple enzyme masque on my face as well. Rinsed both simultaneously. The best part of it was that I timed it perfectly so my mother had no clue what all I was up to. It was like getting away with the perfect crime. ...

The only leave-in was Pantene Detangling spray, as is the practice on clarifying days. Style will be a single braid if I ever get around to it.

Etc.: The new shoes & pants that I ordered last week arrived today. Epic!
Now both my nails and laundry are drying, and I'm chilling to Roxy Music. Things are beginning to make sense again. At least as much sense as they've ever made. Roll Eyes

Cheers!

KNS: So it would seem. Now where's my fedora? Roll Eyes

Hair: Been CWC-ing. Current products for this are Suave juicy green apple light conditioner, Pantene Volume shampoo (slightly diluted) and Pantene Moisture Renewal conditioner.
Leave-ins are usually Pantene Detangling spray on the length and either serum and ELOO on the ends. Today however, I was in a bit of a hurry to get out the door and went without an end treatment. No style yet as hair is still damp.

The ends have been feeling majorly dry lately, and I can't figure out if it's from end treatments, lack of regular deep conditioning treatments, weather, activity, etc. Perhaps I'm just approaching the limits of decent growth for my hair type. Like after a certain point, any excessive inches will be rendered a brittle, tangled mess. Undecided I am almost at waist length.
It may sound strange among long hair enthusiasts, but I'm actually looking forward to the BSL chop after I've finally reached waist. I'll probably go the rest of my life fluctuating between the two. Unless I want to hack it all off and rock short hair for awhile. Shocked Lips Sealed

Etc.: The last of the items from my internet shopping spree arrived in the mail this morning. For the most part, I'm really digging the stuff I bought and have been able to get rid of some of the crap that wasn't cutting it anymore. Moreover, I'm insanely grateful to be financially able to live comfortably for the first time in far too long. It won't last, but I appreciate every minute that it does.

My sister and her bf have gone out of town for awhile so the 'rents and I finally have some peace, quiet and cleanliness. I get the bathroom to myself again. Yays.

Nails are...weird. Undecided The Revlon colour that looked purple in the bottle turned out more of a dark indigo and bubbled up like The Toxic Avenger in a matter of hours. Even a subtle glitter topcoat couldn't save it. This wasn't the first time I'd been had by Revlon polish, so I remorselessly binned each one in my collection. No más!

That's about all for now. All that I care to type out at least. Cheers!

Trisha: BSL is a good length, but I like a bit more. Wink

Hair: Wow. Sometimes it just seems like I'm going around and around again with haircare.
Decided to try something different and got Pantene Nature Fusions moisture balance S&C. Used them once and got the same results as the last time I used them. Heavy shampoo, light conditioner. Fail. Tongue Fortunately, I was able to return at least the conditioner.

Yesterday, the experimental/impulsive bug bit again and I bought several low end (ie. Suave) items to try. But after reminding myself how every single time I'd used Suave products, I was always sorry, I returned them before using them. Whew!

When the sun went down, I finally came to my senses and picked up more Pantene Volume S&C, along with a few other gothy-looking items. Wink Man, just don't let me out during the day. Bad things happen. Roll Eyes

This morning, I washed the entire length with diluted Ice Shine and followed with an ACV rinse. Left Moisture Renewal conditioner on for the remainder of my shower and then chased with Volume conditioner. Oh my God. This routine left my hair feeling amazing until...serum. Finally, I've identified the root of the dryness/tangle problem.

So while dumping every serum I owned, I made the curious (and perhaps obvious) discovery that serum is much heavier than the ELOO that I use. Huh Who knew?
Anyway, I cleaned one of the Pantene serum bottles that I had lying around and filled it with ELOO so it would be easier to dispense. And I kept the Kenra serum bottle for its gothy looks, though I'll need to put it through the dishwasher before refilling it.

Etc.: Finally broke down and ordered a new pair of Ariats today. If I'm going to go broke again anyway, I may as well go broke in style. Roll Eyes

Can you believe it's been 6 months since I was laid off? I can't either. Cry The job search is still turning up absolute naught. I'll get one more check before my UI runs out. After that, God only knows. Hopefully, I won't get desperate enough to go back into retail, but if it must happen that way, then so be it. I'll do it knowing I did absolutely everything I could to find work, and it won't be the last job I'll ever have. No shame, no regrets.

Haha I love this: who knew? Wink

Hair: CWC today with Suave green apple conditioner, diluted Pantene Ice Shine shampoo and Pantene Moisture Renewal conditioner. Leave-ins were Pantene Detangling spray and ELOO. Yeesh, this already sounds like an advertisement. Embarrassed

Anyway, I'm beginning to realize how difficult it is to get serum completely out of things; namely their containers. There still seems to be a little serum stuck in the pump that now holds my ELOO. Tongue I might have to toss the thing altogether and start using ELOO directly from the bottle again. But I'm saving the Kenra serum bottle just in case. I've said that already, haven't I? Embarrassed

But speaking of Kenra, I picked up their Daily Provision leave-in conditioner and Nourishing Mask at the ghetto mall by my house (mostly for looks, I confess)...and they threw in a small bottle of the Thermal Styling Spray free.
On the way out, I almost picked up a new fake hairpiece from The Icing, but decided against it for some reason. Perhaps when being onstage again is a priority...

Etc.: And speaking of not doing live shows anytime soon (sigh), my father and I have reluctantly agreed to jam at Lizard's place tonight. I can't call it a "practice" or "rehearsal" like some of my bandmates do. We aren't rehearsing for anything. It's just the same old tunes all night long for no one, and were it not for the free gas that I usually get out of it, I wouldn't even bother showing up. I sound like a broken record now. Sorry. Embarrassed
It's just frustrating when doing something you're supposed to love feels more like shooting yourself in the foot. Not that this particular gig was ever ideal, but music is supposed to set you free, not torture you. Getting together with your band is something you're supposed to look forward to, not something you dread. I know I'm beating a dead horse. What's worse is I'm probably living up to every extent of the whiny musician stereotype. So sorry, loves. Embarrassed

On a more pleasant note, it's supposed to rain tomorrow. By then, tonight will only be a memory and I'll have all day to play...maybe at the coast?

Hair: Finished off the bottle of diluted Ice Shine shampoo during this morning's CWC. Henceforth, I'll be using Pantene Volume...at least for the most part. The goal right now is to just use up what I have.

Leave-ins were Pantene Detangling spray and ELOO as usual, although the "usual" amount of either one didn't seem to be enough today. Especially the ELOO. I guess the ends have just reached that point where they're going to be dead dry unless I oil the heck out of them. Seems to happen whenever I go more than 3 months without a trim.
Static was also a bit of a problem this afty, so I threw the whole mess into a braid. After measuring, that is. The whole of March gave me a whopping quarter inch of new growth for a grand total of 28.25". Undecided It's quite doubtful I'll reach waist length by July.

Music: The jam wasn't terrible even though we went through every song twice and my father was again messing up my harmonies because he didn't understand his own. ...
But it was good to see the guys and hang out. Lizard gave me a Perrier while the rest of them chugged wine. And his young neice even joined us on the shaker for awhile, which was kinda cute. She had pretty good rhythm for a kid.

Etc.: Don't you hate it when you toss last month's shower cap and loofah sponges and forget to replace them? Happened to me this morning. I had to put my hair up with a few of my sister's metal sectioning clips. Heh, sorry. Saw a new loofah sponge on my bed and it just reminded me. What? You knew I was a scatterbrain. Roll Eyes

Anyway, it's April. Spring has definitely sprung whether I wanted it or not. 4 months 'til Michaels gets its Halloween merch in. That's how I look at it. Just stay shuttered up with my books and my bass guitar until fall.

Oh yes, and it only rained for a little while this morning. Angry

Hair: Well, it's happened to the most infamous power couples: Lucy & Desi, Sonny & Cher, Barbie & Ken. Now it seems that Angel's hair & Pantene have finally reached the end of their long and devoted partnership. Shocked Yes, I'm afraid it's true. It's been a good run, but most good things must unfortunately come to an end.

Like any separation, it was tough to take at first, but I've come to accept it as just another turn on the crazy road that is the journey. It takes strength to hold onto something for a long time, but sometimes it takes even more strength to be able to let something go. Gawd, I'm so full of malarkey. Roll Eyes I could write crap like this all day long.

Impulsive thing that I am, I went out last night and bought Dove Cool Moisture S&C. I'd always been intrigued by them and was curious to see how they would work for me. Now that my hair is "single" again, there was no real reason not to try. Now I'm free to sample this and that, see what else is out there and how my hair will react to it. Just like dating. Roll Eyes

Anyroad, I finally got to try out the new cucumber/green tea S&C this morning during a WCC. Used an ACV rinse after the wash as I commonly do when breaking in a new shampoo. This one has a nice lather to it and a fab fragrance but seems to leave my hair a little too slick after it dries...it mentions something about having a serum built in, so who knows?
The conditioner is essentially cone-free. Its only cone is Dimethiconol, which we're told is water soluble. The difference is immediately noticeable. It rinses much cleaner than Pantene conditioners without leaving that protective layer of smoothness. Hmm. Undecided

Leave-ins were Kenra Daily Provision and a whopping ton of ELOO, the latter of which hampered my ability to judge how the Dove S&C worked. Guess we'll have to find out later.
Not much else can be said. My hair is greased and braided for the day.

For the time being, I'm going to work on using what I have. I'll be altering my morning wash routine and hopefully just using products 2 at a time. Not ideal, but will definitely help cut down on shower time.
This afternoon, I diluted the remains of my TRESemmé Anti-Breakage shampoo and combined my current Suave light conditioner with a bit of Pantene Moisture Renewal to thicken it up. Threw both items into my shower caddy and will use them tomorrow.

Etc.: Went shopping again a few hours ago and picked up a few more essentials. New sunblock for this year and some powder foundation. Yesterday, I noticed that my mineral foundation has a decidedly unnatural pink cast that turns my face & neck 2 different colours. Huh Tacky. The hot season is coming up, which means a lot of sweat and sunblock anyway, which calls for powder. Mineral foundation doesn't work well with either one.

So that's what's going on in Angel's world. The usual reevaluation of my entire life. Roll Eyes

Note to self: use less oil, and use it while the ends of hair are still wet.
Greasy ends again today. Undecided Routine was a simple CW: conditioner on the bottom, shampoo on the top, rinse both out together and there ya go. Done.
Leave-ins were Pantene Detangling spray and (too much) ELOO. Were it not for the latter, my hair would probably look and feel just fine.

The TRESemmé shampoo that I'm now using is too diluted and quite watery. It shouldn't take long to run out of it at this rate...which isn't a bad thing. I'm just not a fan of watery shampoo.

But this is a relatively new approach for me and I'm still working out the kinks. So long as all of the products I have get used up, it's progress.

Anywho, I've been ordered to clean the bathroom. How predictable. Roll Eyes Good thing I already tackled some of it last night.

Happy Easter, everybody. ...

Trisha: You're a brave woman. I didn't even bother with the free samples. The "reality" ad with celebrity endorsements was enough to lose my vote. Hope the new formulas work for ya.

Hair: Clarified yesterday...kind of. Undecided I ended up forgetting to bring the ACV rinse into the shower (D'OH!) so I just washed twice with the clarifying shampoo. Guess the ACV rinse will have to wait until the next time I wash all of my hair.
Today's routine was a simple CW, which I'm beginning to like more and more. Not only is it a good time saver, but my hair doesn't seem to be suffering for the shortened process.
Leave-ins were Kenra Daily Provision, which I'm not so thrilled with, and ELOO. Speaking of ELOO, I was able to find a store brand version of it for about 5 and a half quid while I was out and about today. The only problem was that there was this cloudy white stuff at the bottom. Huh
Anyroad, the hair is safely braided now, despite it feeling amazingly soft. My first instinct was to leave it down, but it became something of a nuisance after awhile. It may indeed be too long for its texture.

Oh, and I picked up a 1L bottle of Fiji water (my fave) to serve as my next bottle for ACV rinses.

Etc.: Last night the entire family went to Disneyland except for yours truly ($500 for a new annual pass is just asking too much right now). As a reward for dogsitting, my sister bought me this cool Captain EO shirt: ...

and this even cooler chomping skull light:
...
I'm thinking of attaching it to one of my car windows. Wink

While I was poncing around in the fragrance section at Sephora this afternoon, a very flamboyant sales associate offered to assist me in choosing one and then asked if I worked in the mall because we were dressed alike (apparently all black attire now translates to mall clerk, dear oh dear). And for some reason, I only responded with a coy laugh instead of tendering the usual amount of cheek ("what can I say, honey, I have impeccable taste!", "maybe we have the same stylist," etc. etc.). Hope I'm not going soft in my old age. Roll Eyes

Hair: After much deliberation this afternoon, I decided to just go with another CW. My hair was just going to be twisted into the usual crazy updo anyway, so it didn't need to be immaculate. Just the same, this routine left my hair insanely soft as before. Even softer than Pantene used to make it, if that can be believed. Shocked Still trying to get my head around that.
Leave-ins were Suave Kids apple spray conditioner and lots of ELOO. The plan for this evening was a jam with the band - our lead singer was inviting some friends over to watch us, so I wanted my hair to be in show mode.
Of course those plans were cancelled last minute so my hair's all twisted up for nothing. All dressed up with nowhere to go. Such is life.

Tonight I'll likely take it down and drown the length in oil overnight.

Etc.: After getting my stage makeup on for the night, I've decided that neither black eyeshadow nor blue glitter eyeliner are the least bit flattering on me. The latter of which now rests in the reject drawer - I swear, some of the stuff in there would frighten off Ziggy Stardust, Pete Burns and a parade of drag queen disciples. Shocked
This little epiphany naturally provoked a quick reevaluation of my eye makeup collection, which brought about another little epiphany: I don't like shelling out 20 quid for a single eyeshadow anymore. I used to get a kick out of collecting whichever designer shadows struck my fancy at the time, but now? Being unemployed for so long has put a lot of things like that into perspective. Things that seemed fun and posh while I was working now seem disgustingly extravagant. I'm grateful for that little wake up call. Smiley

Anyway, before I go washing off this shameless excess for the night, I think I'll darken my room, turn on the FX lighting and transform the place into my own private little dance club for an hour. It's way more fun than power walking. Roll Eyes

Cheers!

Is Pantene just adding this new line of product or is this to replace our beloved existing items??  Please tell me it's not the latter!   Tongue

Isn't it? Wink And I didn't even mention Boy George.

Hair: WCC with Dove cucumber & green tea S&C + Suave green apple conditioner. Sprayed Suave Kids leave-in on the length and all was well until I went for the ELOO. Now I'm a greaseball. Tongue Mandatory single braid.

Etc.: Earlier this afty, my father called from work and said that the rest of the band wanted to get together this evening. With an audience, I wonder? No thanks! The schematics of our little "stage" are all wrong - the drums are off in a corner and they have me up in front instead of the rhythm guitarist. This works when it's just the lot of us jamming, but would look dead silly to anyone watching; particularly when I start dorking around the "stage" area while I'm not singing. Plus, my percussion instruments were lost in the music room remodel and I wouldn't embarrass myself playing air maraca in front of people. ...
Perhaps if I work in a good Ian Curtis spaz dance whenever I don't sing, someone will figure things out and rearrange the stage. Then again, I could get placed in the center. Roll Eyes

Speaking of music, my sister is in the hallway clucking away a Kings Of Leon tune because she thinks they sound like chickens. Grin

Anyway, today I received my final UI check. It won't be enough to cover my next car payment. Cry Leaving this one in God's hands. I'm already doing all I can.

Hair: CWC with Suave green apple light conditioner, diluted TRESemmé anti-breakage shampoo and current conditioner blend. Used an ACV rinse before the final conditioning. Leave-ins were Pantene Detangling spray and ELOO. I always seem to wait too long to apply the latter and the ends of my hair are always greasy as a result. Grrr. Angry

Took a chance and bought some more TRESemmé anti-breakage S&C. Hopefully regular use won't ruin the positive outlook that I have on them now.

Music: There was indeed a jam last night, and Lizard's relatives did indeed watch. My father was angered for my decision not to go, poor fellow - he tried various different ways to persuade me; but I'm relieved not to have suffered the embarrassment. Perhaps I'll go next week if we don't have an audience. Embarrassed

Etc.: Predictably, I've been sending out résumés like a fiend. Just as predictably, there have been no responses yet. I'm hoping against all odds that the next few weeks will be a steady blur of interviews. Today's mantra: act as if it's impossible to fail.

Speaking of which, the sun has almost set and it will be time to go for another power walk soon. Cheers!

Hair: CW with the new TRESemmé anti-breakage S&C. Suave Kids detangling spray was the only leave-in. All seemed well until my hair dried with a nasty serum residue that makes it tangle and get stringy. I sincerely hope that this is something left over from yesterday and not a result of the new TRESemmé products. Undecided

Perhaps tonight I'll do a heavy ELOO treatment and then wash it out tomorrow morning with a WCC. If I use the Suave leave-in again tomorrow, I'll know where the residue is coming from, although it's never given me this kind of trouble before. Huh

As for today, I've left my hair down and forced it to obey its natural side part. I need to be more adamant about parting my hair when its down - it just looks and lays better that way.

A little while ago, I finally got around to doing a S&D on the front left section of my hair. This time, it was just under 20 minutes. I could see doing S&D's more regularly if I can limit them to about 15 minutes. Small commitments I can handle. Roll Eyes

Oh, and one other little thing about TRESemmé: the pumps that they sometimes put on the bottles are a joke. The actual caps work much better.

Etc.: Another earthquake last night. We've been having them like crazy lately. On easter Sunday, there was a 7.2 in Baja that rumbled for over 30 seconds. I was in the doorway of our garage at the time and remember watching my father's water truck shaking. There were small aftershocks that followed for days. Last night's was about a 3.0. This map shows just how frequently they've been happening in CA lately, most especially in SoCal/Mexico.

Still no news in the job hunt. Sad

Hair: Did a heavy ELOO treatment overnight last night, then clarified this morning. One thing about leaving Pantene behind is that I know I won't miss their Purifying shampoo too much - I absolutely love Herbal Essences Drama Clean. Roll Eyes Been missing Herbal Essences in general lately...I do wish it didn't give me chemical burn. Sad

Anyway, to rehydrate the length after clarifying, I used Kenra Nourishing Mask. Shocked Sacre bleu, I don't think my hair has ever been so silky after clarifying! This is definitely a method I'll stick with.

No leave-ins today. I didn't want to risk ruining the clarifying experience with a potential overload of serum slick. Tongue Also washed every comb I own today to avoid putting any residue on clean hair.

Style is a single braid.

Etc.: After washing all of my combs, I also washed a hairbrush that I hadn't used regularly in years and ultimately decided not to keep (too hard to clean). Also did a load of laundry, gave myself a mani pedi and washed all of my makeup brushes, replaced applicators, sponges, etc. I want to be ready for whatever this week has in store.

Wanted to wash my car as well, but was too soddin' tired by the end of the day and I'd already gotten a lot done. Maybe tomorrow.

Hair: CWC with Suave green apple light conditioner and Pantene Volume S&C. No leave-ins; hair is down. I might do a S&D later.

Speaking of hair, I just finished cutting my dad's into what he termed a "kinda cool, '50's spiky flattop" at his request. He's quite pleased with it.
Hehe. Angel...hairstylist to the (local) stars. Cool Grin

Etc.: Woke up early and it was pouring rain, so naturally I decided to go for a walk. After returning from the usual half hour trek, it was a bit of work pulling off my wet clothes and unraveling the soaked velvet scrunchie from my equally soaked hair so I could shower. But what an epic way to start the morning. Cheesy

It's early...which means I have time for a quick entry.

Speaking of prospective employers, I have an interview this afternoon with a new company in one of the poshest business complexes I've ever seen. I'll try to get a few pix of some of its grandiose water features while I'm there if I'm able.

So most of my day will be spent preening, primping and getting my corporate goth glamour on in preparation, as well as just trying to stay cool and focused.

As for my hair, today's routine will be a simple CW with a Suave/Pantene conditioner blend and diluted TRESemmé anti-breakage shampoo. Style wise, I'm feeling the double bun updo would be appropriate. Haven't rocked that one in awhile. Therefore leave-ins will be mandatory. Maybe even a little hairspray. Shocked

Yesterday I went a little crazy and picked up two 15 oz. bottles of Suave waterfall mist light conditioner. Something to use when I run out of the green apple stuff.

Oh yes, and as luck would naturally have it, I have to do this interview with a MONSTER ZIT on my chin that simply refuses to go away. Angry Thank God for makeup.

The band is planning a jam tonight but I haven't made any commitments. I don't know if I'll be feeling up to it this evening or what my father's schedule is like, so we'll see.

Right now, the only thing I'm committed to is this interview. And perhaps making some oatmeal. Breakfast would be nice.

Cheers, loves. Wish me luck.

Wow, thanx, you guys! Cheesy It means more than you know.

The interview was quite brief, but seemed to go rather well. They'll be interviewing people all week, but said that things looked good, so I may be called for a second interview. We'll see.
Unfortunately, I was only able to grab this one pic while I was there:
...

Last night, my father and I did end up getting together with the band. None of them were angry with me for not going last week...and Lizard found my percussion instruments.
And just when I was convinced that I had nothing in common with Grateful Ed, it turns out he's a fan of Echo & The Bunnymen, and even photographed them back in 1986 when he worked for Rolling Stone. Epic! He's going to see them at Coachella this weekend.
Speaking of the Bunnymen, their first album just happened to be spinning in my car's CD player on the way home. It wasn't the first time my father had heard them, but the first time he'd verbalized his disdain. Shocked Totally figures. He hates almost every band worth their salt, poor fellow. Roll Eyes

Spoke with former band brother Moon Pie this morning as he explained how unemployment extensions work. He once told me that if I ever had any questions about unemployment that I only had to ask him, and he was able to put some of my fears to rest. I now have a much better understanding of what to expect from this point onward. Bless his heart. And his experience. And his easy going attitude. I love that guy. Smiley

Anyway, in hair news, I wore what was probably the worst double bun updo ever to the interview yesterday. All wonky and heavily cemented into place with hairspray and aloe gel. Tongue
Washed this morning with Dove cucumber & green tea shampoo, then left the Intensive Repair treatment in until the end of my shower, where I rinsed and chased it with the cucumber & green tea conditioner. After all that, it became a tangled mess and I knew there was a problem. When it finally dried, I learned exactly what that problem was.
Without any leave-ins at all, Dove products have left a heavy slime coat on my hair, as if I'd dunked it in a 10 gallon barrel of serum. Tongue It's braided and out of the way now, but I can't even touch it without getting my hands slimy.

So I've made a new ACV rinse for tomorrow when I'll have to WCC all over again...with different products. The Dove is awaiting new orders in my car wash bucket.

Gaaaaaahhhhh, did the cast of Glee seriously just cover a Doors song?! ... We may now be assured that poor ol' Jimbo's bones are spinning in their Parisian grave. This one's for you, man.

Curlgirl: Perhaps if it was raining. I'd be more inclined to park underground and take the elevator. Wink

Hair: Still slimy. Tongue Instead of washing and stripping it to death, I'm just going to keep with my normal wash routines and just let the extra business filter out gradually. Leave-ins will be left out as I believe they're still suspect. Contained styles are mandatory for disguising the mess. Man, do I miss my headbands. Undecided Perhaps I'll get some jewels at Michaels and make a few more gothy headbands to distract myself from my hair's unhappy condition.

Etc.: The company called yesterday and invited me back for a second interview on Tuesday, so it's looking good. I honestly wasn't expecting to hear from them so soon, if at all. I already have a plan to do my hair, nails and makeup differently than last time. They're dealing with a capricious artist after all. Wink

Anyway, time to hop in the shower...which brings about 2 more points: my sister's bf does indeed farmer blow in the shower. I heard him do it twice this morning. Tongue Tongue Tongue Nasty.

Ahem. But in the spirit of clean, check these epic rubber duckies!

Curlgirl: Indeed. Let's hope it goes as well as the first, yes?

Trisha: Don't be fooled by the shiny packaging or implied gentleness in the name. Dove is the supreme evil of haircare. The James Moriarty in a complex and sinister network of conspirators whose sole mission is to lure unsuspecting consumers into slime-sodden ruin. Shocked At least this is what I've come to believe after falling victim to their products.

Thank you for keeping me in mind. I truly appreciate the support. Smiley

Hair: Washed the entire length with Suave Kids 2-in-1 Smoothers in the orange mango outburst scent. Oh my God! Shocked Not only does it smell enticing enough to eat, it actually leaves my hair clean, smooth and not dried out. Something typically unheard of among Suave products. Easily a product that I could use for years, if not forever. And under $2 a bottle - eureka! Cheesy

Followed with an ACV rinse and Pantene Volume conditioner. No leave-ins. Hair is cleaner, but still slicked with Dove residue. Evil, evil stuff. I'll clarify on Monday and hope that takes care of it. Otherwise this is going to be a long and grueling process. Undecided

Staying up rather late last night, my efforts were entirely focused on cutting and tying strips of tulle, velvet, lace and ribbon to make this freaky deaky hair accessory:

...

When I was a kid, one of our neighbours made hair accessories for her 3 daughters and once made some for my sister and I, so I basically took one of her ideas and modified it to fit my own style. Can't wait to try this thing with my twisted updo.

Still need to get crystals for my next headband project. I went to Michaels yesterday but couldn't decide what I wanted. Today I have a clearer idea...time to play around and create! Cheesy

Etc.: Yes, I missed Coachella...but I never was a fan anyway. My band brother Grateful Ed is there with his wife. With any luck, they'll get a few good pix for me.

But the summer concert boom is coming: Heart in May, Peter Frampton & Joan Jett and the Blackhearts in July, BB King & Buddy Guy in August...at least a few shows worth seeing, should I have the chance.

Anyroad, I'm off to grab a bite, then back to Michaels. Cheers!

Thanx, MichelleR!

Today's routine was a simple CW with blended conditioner and diluted TRESemmé shampoo. My hair is still damp, so it's still too early to determine, but I think the residual Dove evilness is beginning to diminish significantly. Finally!
Style wise, I wanted to do a flipped ponytail today, which requires at least a leave-in conditioning spray, so I used Kenra Daily Provision.

Tomorrow will be a clarifying day and I've already made an ACV rinse.

After 2 days of Sinatra and hot glue burns, I've finished another headband. Detail on this one has a cluster of bling & black pearls over layers of black/silver lace, fishnet, crushed velvet and tulle.
...

Unlike its predecessor, I can't wait to wear this one in public. Wink Of course I finished it right as mandatory updo weather commences. Tongue

Speaking of which, with the temps coming back up, it would be great to hit the beaches on the regular again. It's been way too long and I'm dying to get back out on the ol' Morey board. Need someone to go with though. Undecided

Bless your heart, Melusine. Thank you! The support here is really something else. I love you guys. Kiss

Clarified today. Haaaallelujah! Dove residue - gone! Conditioned with Kenra Nourishig Masque and Kenra Daily Provision was the only leave-in. Neither built up or left anything undesirable behind. Style was a single braid.

Tomorrow's the big day. Nails are dressed in silver and I'm thinking a flipped rope braid for the hair. Fingers crossed...

I'm late in joining the support because I've been busy sorting issues here but I really want to throw a lot of luck in your direction.  It's good to see that you're being creative at the same time too.  I like that headband.

Thanks on both counts, Drear. Smiley Creativity is who I am - it's always there no matter what else is going on.

While I was getting ready for this afternoon's interview, a different company called to schedule another in an earlier time slot. Two interviews in one afternoon? No problem.
Unfortunately, I don't think either opportunity is going to pan out. Undecided That's the way the thunder rumbles. I sent out another slew of résumés this morning and I have another UI check on the way. Moving on.

Hair wise, I did a CWC using Suave waterfall mist as a light conditioner. It's actually richer than I remember and conditions rather well on its own. Regular conditioner blend and diluted TRESemmé shampoo are nearly gone.

The flipped rope braid lasted through the interviews but started falling apart afterwards. Especially after spending time at the coast.

Decided to try out an indie café by the water...and ended up with the worst iced white mocha and berry cheesecake I've ever had in my life. Tongue Binning the former, I went about looking for something better to wash it all down with. The line at Starbucks was horrendous. Häagen-Dazs was a different story Wink so I got a dulce de leche shake there, which was good but made me ill after awhile. Tongue My diet has been crap lately anyway. Embarrassed

Alas, that's where I am now. Disappointed, ill, and after waking up way too early, combined with the day's events, dead tired.
But tomorrow is another day. Peace.

Okay, even if the interviews don't result in a job offer this week, something could come from them later.  Plus, every interview you do gives you experience and will result in better interviews later.  Someone as positive as you are is bound to end up with a really fab position.

I love all the little tests you have been posting.  What a hoot!!  I keep playing with my responses to see what changes the answer.

Melusine: Grin Sometimes I do the same thing just to see what kind of results someone else might get. Other times, I have my sister take the same quiz to see what she ends up with since her personality is quite different from mine.

And thanx for the encouragement. I've been called a lot of things but never "positive." Grin

Curlgirl: Thanx. Yeah, it's a bummer. I've a pretty strong foreboding that neither place will pick me...but that's just going to have to be ok. It's out of my hands. Better to shrug off the things I can't control and focus on what I can - like getting as many résumés out as possible every day and staying on top of whichever new positions become available so I can be the first to pounce on them. Wink
You may call that positivity, but it's probably something closer to desperation. ...

Hair: CW routine. Blended conditioner, diluted TRESemmé shampoo. It bloody amazes me how certain inexpensive products can render my hair so soft. Shocked I honestly haven't had a problem giving up Pantene. That may be the strangest thing I've ever said in these forums.

Anyway, leave-ins today were Kenra Daily Provision and ELOO. Style was a casual bun which has since come down as I plan to load my hair with oil overnight.

Etc.: Power walked the 30 minute route twice today and exercised in my room for an additional 30 minutes out of pure boredom. Diet has been pretty healthy today as well and I'm finding motivation in unexpected places...like my sister's bf. His unhealthy habits inspire me to keep making good decisions for myself. Like this afternoon when he threw some mayo & cheese-laden sarnie on the stove with butter on both ends while I cracked open a can of soup. Roll Eyes

In many ways, I sense that familiar old roommate competitiveness returning. The same sort of thing I had going with my last set of roommates - looking down on their habits and doing the opposite. Eating well while they eat crap, keeping my room tidy while theirs is a pig sty, exercising while they're lazy, etc. Maybe that's common behaviour among roommates. Undecided

Anyroad, it's still a bit early but I'm dead knackered and need to sleep. Right after oiling my hair. G'night, loves.

Trisha: Right?? Wink

Hair: Washed last night's oil out with Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition shampoo and conditioned twice. First with Pantene Moisture Renewal, last with Triple Nutrition conditioner. Leave-ins were Kenra Daily Provision and ELOO. The Dove slime seems to have cleared out completely and my hair has been returned its natural texture so I can pretty much use whatever I want on it. Thank goodness.

At the moment it's air drying and I've not yet decided what sort of style I'll do. Maybe just a headband. Smiley

Etc.: No new job leads as yet. Really hoping for my next UI check to arrive soon.

Need to switch meds again. The current supply isn't doing anything good for me. I'll be off of them for good once I can afford to see my dermatologist again.

Hopefully by fall, everything will turn out for the best. I'll have a new job, be able to afford decent meds, fit in my clothes again and all of the new Halloween merch will be hitting stores. God willing.

The band is getting together tonight. Here we go again. Roll Eyes

Hair: CWC with Suave waterfall mist (ahhh) light conditioner, diluted TRESemmé anti-breakage shampoo and another conditioner blend. Leave-ins were Kenra Daily Provision and ELOO as usual and the style was/is a single braid.

Emptied the huge TRESemmé bottle and tossed it in the recycle bin. Woo! One down...
Now I'm playing mad scientist in the bathroom, mixing potions to cut down on clutter. It rather amazes me just how much product is stashed about in my room. I feel almost like a hoarder. Shocked This whole hair thing can become quite the obsession, can't it?

Music: The jam actually went well last night even though it was freezing cold. The only real disagreement was how often we should get together. Dad & I could really push it back to once a month but Grateful Ed wants to move it up to twice a week. Twice a week...for a purely social band going nowhere fast. Insert any number of "he's on dope" comments here. Literally - he grows the stuff legally for "medical" purposes. Roll Eyes Ah, brother Ed, you make yourself too easy a target.

My father is buying a song from a local composer that suits his voice and style really well. He played it for the lot of us last night and had us join in. The song is going on a forthcoming CD from my dad's other band (the decent one) and he wants me to learn harmonies and record it with him. I'm not sure yet whether it's to be a single, EP or full on album, but it will all be done locally and independently and should be kinda fun. Smiley

Etc.: Anywho, I'm home alone (except for the dog) so now would be the perfect time to get a few things done which would otherwise be hampered by the presence of...well, others. My agenda, my way. Cool

Hair: Kinda weird today. I'm not sure if it's due to the wash method, the products used or the good thrashing I put it through while working out both this morning and afternoon. Undecided

Started off in a ponytail while I worked out for an hour, then I did my best to comb it before giving it a CW in the shower with a blended (mostly Pantene) conditioner and slightly diluted Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition shampoo. It became clear that the latter was just too greasy and wouldn't make a good daily shampoo, so I dumped it. Man, have I had it with heavy, slimy shampoos lately. Tongue Thankfully, I clarify tomorrow.

Anyway, leave-ins were the usual Kenra Daily Provision and ELOO. Left my hair down as usual while it air dried, during which time I worked in another half hour of exercise. The detangling that followed was something of a struggle. My hair's always a bit weird after it's been badly tangled and then detangled. Think I'll give it a little more ELOO and either braid it or put it in a bun or something.

So far, I've more or less been adapting to a new weekly wash regimen:

Sunday - clarify
Monday - CWC
Tuesday - CW + heavy ELOO overnight
Wednesday - WCC
Thursday - CWC
Friday - CW
Saturday - CWC or WC + heavy ELOO overnight

So the length only gets washed twice a week. Not sure whether that's enough just yet. Looking forward to measure day next week. Smiley

Etc.: Chillin' to some great goth music this afty. And I don't mean anything remotely close to Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson, Evanescence, Prodigy or whatever else the ignorant masses think is "goth." I mean real goth music: Bauhaus, Siouxse & the Banshees, The Cure, Bella Morte, The Crüxshadows, VNV Nation, The Sisters Of Mercy...mostly bands that the ignorant masses have never heard of...and thank goodness. Roll Eyes

Still no news in the job search and nothing from EDD, and time is running out. Of course I realize the futility of hoping for anything different on either end. ... Guess the powers that be just won't be satisfied until I can't pay my bills, lose everything I own and am living in a shelter somewhere.

Hair: Clarified this morning without doing an overnight ELOO treatment last night, and I guess I should have. Even after conditioning with Pantene Deep Fortifying treatment, most of my hair was dry and prone to serious tangles. One was so bad that it had to be cut out. Sad After braiding it, I poured ELOO over the ends and worked it through. Let's hope that does something.

Etc.: Anyone tried the new Hershey's Pieces? I got the York ones tonight and they're epic! Cheesy Can't wait to try the Almond Joy ones if I ever have the chance.

Watched Singin' In The Rain with my family a little while ago. Or at least I tried what with them blathering on the minute they walked through the door, the dog jumping all over the place and my sister's idiot boyfriend standing in front of the TV for a minute. Angry Erg. Trying to watch movies in this family is impossible, thus I always try to do it alone.

They're all watching Avatar now and I'm going for a walk. Ta-ra!

Trisha: If you could somehow prevent that from 5 states away, then you have far more power than I do. Wink

Hair: Bunned for this morning's exercises, then detangled with my seamless acrylic comb, and a CWC took care of yesterday's oil-saturated ends. Currently using Suave waterfall mist as a light conditioner until the bottle is empty. Washed the top half of my hair with Suave Kids 2-in-1 and all of its citrusy goodness. Conditioned with the usual blend.

Today's only leave-in was Kenra Daily Provision and the style is a bun held in place with bobby pins. I like how wisps of hair naturally come out of this style and keep it from looking too marmy.

Spotted the new version of my hair's former partner, Pantene, while I was out today. Not digging the new graphics and they are now using harsher detergents in the shampoos and cheaper plastics for the bottles. Tongue It's kind of like watching someone you once dated go completely downhill and thinking, boy, I got out of that one just in time!
So long, Pantene. We had a good ride.

Etc.: Definitely going to stop taking my current meds as they are causing too many unpleasant side effects, including weight gain. It's freaking me out because I've always been naturally thin, but I've been here before and know how to deal. I'll likely take a few months off of meds altogether before trying something else.

Nails are now black with a subtle glitter topcoat. They're actually a bit more glittery than intended, but whatever. It's extremely fine glitter and only visible in direct light, and it's only going to be there for a week anyway. I figured that so long as I wasn't getting called for any interviews, my nails may as well be fun.
Of course, I did stop short of getting a bottle of purple glitter polish yesterday. Grin If I was 16, it wouldn't even be a question. I'd buy it and slick it over black polish in a heartbeat. But I'm a big girl now and there are classier ways to rock the sparkle. Wink

Finally got my last UI check in the mail today and put it in the bank. It's not much but I can now at least afford to register my car for another year. Yays. Roll Eyes
My mother's first unemployment extension was approved and they've started sending her money again, which is great for her and encouraging for me. Fingers crossed.

Blaaah. Up insanely early yet again. Tongue My sister's bf gets up at 4:45 AM to get ready for work, which always wakes me up. Being unable to go back to sleep, I took advantage of the early hour and went for a short walk. Only the 20 minute route since the sun was coming out and my legs were already sore enough.

Came back in and exercised for 20 more minutes, and I'll probably walk the 20 minute route again tonight. I try to get at least 60 minutes a day.

In hair news, I bought Kenra moisturizing S&C a few days ago and used them yesterday. Both are insanely thick and leave a slick, heavy residue but it doesn't seem to matter once my hair is dry. There's also a pretty strong coconut fragrance.
The usual Kenra Daily Provision and ELOO as leave-ins don't seem to be enough lately. More and more, I'm becoming convinced that my hair is just growing too long for its texture as the ends only seem to get drier and more eager to tangle. As I've said before, I'll reach waist length purely out of principle, then cut back to BSL. I guess the longest that my hair type should ever grow is just past mid-back. Sad

As for today, the routine will be a CWC. I've more or less given up on the CW approach as it didn't seem to condition my hair enough. I have another new shampoo that I'm dying to break in - Suave Kids 2-in-1 in the cherry jams scent - because it smells like grenadine! Cheesy Yeah, I use kids products. What about it?

Good news: the state has extended my UI claim. *HUGE sigh of relief* More good news: band brother Moon Pie will be joining the rest of us for a jam tonight. Perhaps he & I will tinker around with the old B3 organ that Lizard bought recently. Roll Eyes

Now for just a touch of totally unrelated self mockery...

Trish: Hehe. Nice one. Wink

Hair: CWC today with Suave waterfall mist light conditioner and TRESemmé anti-breakage S&C. The TRES conditioner didn't seem to do much, so I worry that it may render the same dried out results as last time. Sad Perhaps I'll give it a week and see what happens.
Alas, the real moisture was down to today's leave-ins. Kenra Daily Provision & ELOO as usual. Thank goodness for them. And just in case the TRESemmé ends up sucking eggs, I still have an obscene amount of products stashed away.

As far as shampoos are concerned, I'm liking the Suave Kids line best so far. Granted, I haven't used it much on the regular, so we'll see.

Etc.: Got a super cute new top from JCP yesterday that I can't wait to wear, but will have to save for summer. It's been sunny but windy & cold lately. Staying indoors sort of weather.

The gums around my wisdom teeth have been killing me for days and are finally beginning to heal. I also have a canker sore in there somewhere so my mouth is really not happy. Sad I did venture to eat some of the chips & salsa that Lizard put out for the band last night and that went alright. The jam was decent - it was great to see Moon Pie again. And John 3:16 said that he liked my hair down.

The guys are all talking about going to see Boscoe's new band, Rodeohead, tonight. Yep, country fried Radiohead covers. Grin Only Boscoe, I swear. Hope my father's up for the drive. It'd be a total gas if we could go.

Anywho, I'm off to get dinner and finish laundry. Ciao!

Hair: Day 2 of consistent TRESemmé use and I'm already longing for Pantene. Sad It's apparent now that the TRES conditioner is best used as a light conditioner. But the S&C, when used together, are indeed drying. Even in CWC's, as I learned this morning. *sigh*

Darn you, Pantene! Why do companies have to go and wreck a good thing? If it ain't broke, don't fix it! Herbal Essences pulled the same crap years ago and I stopped using it.
My hope is that Pantene will continue to make Restoratives products so I can just bypass the basic lines. That would work. Though I'll obviously have to give up using their Purity shampoo and Detangling leave-in as they've been discontinued. Angry

So everything's up in the air again and I'm trying to go with the flow and see what transpires. When the dust settles, perhaps I'll find new products that I really love.
For now, though, it's about using what I've got and trying to make it work, and making good use of leave-ins and contained styles when it doesn't work.

Measuring today, my hair came in at 28.75." Waist length is about 30-30.5" on me, so I'm just over an inch away. Unfortunately, I probably won't reach it before my trim in July. Sad Maybe in the latter half of the year.

Etc.: The pain from my wisdom teeth is nearly gone, though I fear that's just the tip of the iceberg. I still have a nasty canker sore and one of my molars has a deep cavity that seems to get worse every day. It will only continue to get worse, of course, until I can afford to have it filled. Ugh! It's only when we're already down and out that the worst things happen. One crap thing on top of another until it becomes this insurmountable pile. It's designed that way, I'm quite sure. Fate is the devil's handiwork - there is no dodging or avoiding it, and there is no escaping it without a scratch.

In other news, it's May day. 3.5 burning months to survive before the first traces of autumn creep into the stores. I'll be waiting. ...

Hair: Clarified. If Pantene Purity shampoo has been changed or discontinued, I'll most likely switch to Herbal Essences Drama Clean. It's cheaper and smells better anyway. Roll Eyes

The only leave-in for the day was Kenra daily provision on the bottom half of the length. Style is a bun with the usual 3 bobby pins.

Etc.: Worked out for an hour this morning, looked for work, went to the bank and activated my new debit card.
Yesterday, I cleaned the house, did laundry & dishes, then collapsed on the couch to watch Close Encounters Of The Third Kind. Cheesy 70's sci-fi never gets old. Wink
Now I'm in the process of painting on one of my signature dark mani's. When the sun goes down, I'll stop by the post office to drop off a car payment and then either head home to watch tonight's TV with the family or drive off to the coast to write.

Speaking of the family, they all seemed to have a decent time at Bats Day yesterday. They returned home with all manner of stories about the fashion sightings - the good, the bad, the ugly and everything in between. Go figure I was the only one who didn't go.
Even the goth bartender from my sister's work whom I dated years ago was there and spent some time with my family. My friend T was there with other friends and was briefly introduced to him.

My family wasn't there because of Bats Day or anything, it was purely coincidental. But anti-goth as they are, they seemed to take it well. T isn't goth either, obviously, but his friends were at the park and he's known to go there when he has nothing else to do.
This year, I simply couldn't afford it and I'm ok with that. It's not the first Bats Day I've ever missed and it won't be the last.

Hair: CWC today with Suave waterfall mist light conditioner, Suave Kids 2-in-1 and blended conditioner. This plus the usual leave-ins would've made for an epic hair day, but it was not to be. I decided to try out my new sunblocks this morning, which meant pinning my hair up while it was still wet. Even despite such efforts, the underside still ended up getting totally gunked. Tongue So I just rolled the mess into a bun before it was dry, not even bothering to detangle it all the way. Definitely looking forward to washing tomorrow! Tongue

Etc.: Sunblock also seemed to eat away some of my nail polish - I just finished doing repair work and adding another clear coat. It most likely took some of the finish off of the bracelets I had on today, which I feared might happen, so I wore cheap, plastic ones. They'll probably go into the shower with me tomorrow morning for a good cleaning. Also had to wash the necklace that I'd worn. Stupid sunblock. Angry

Went on sort of a mad shopping spree this afty. Cheesy Picked up all kinds of things...I guess in celebration of having my UI claim extended. Tomorrow, I'll probably get a few giftcards for my parents since Thursday is my mother's b-day and I was dead broke for my father's.

So things are getting a bit better in Angel's world. Well, aside from the usual crap and being sticky and gross...did I mention that I don't particularly care for sunblock? Roll Eyes

Tomorrow I'll use an ACV rinse and try out a new conditioner. 'Til then, amigas.

If the Suave kids line works for you (and it seems to, from what you've said), why not use it exclusively?

Trish: The Suave 2-in-1's seem to work ok for basic use, but I prefer have a separate clarifying shampoo without conditioners built in...for a super clean slate once a week. That's just what seems to work best.

Hair: Gave it a fruity treat this morning. CWC with Suave waterfall mist light conditioner, Suave Kids orange mango 2-in-1 and Herbal Essences Hello Hydration conditioner. Leave-ins were Suave Kids apple spray conditioner and ELOO. My hair both feels and smells amazing. Cheesy
The only things I need to watch for are whether 1.) the Suave Kids Smoothers 2-in-1 is too heavy for my roots, and 2.) Herbal Essences causes any chemical burns to the back of my neck as it has in the past.

Other than that, epic hair day. Cool Style is a simple bun.

Etc.: Not a whole lot going on today. A distant relative from wayyy up in north county came down to go over some genealogy research with my mother.
Discovered that one of my "Jewish great grandparents" wasn't Jewish at all.

Weather wise, it's finally starting to heat up again. Back into the 80's & 90's. It'll be in the 100's before long. Soddin' summer. Tongue

I am glad your UI was extended.  I keep hoping for good news on the job front for you.

I have been meaning to ask you, what is ELOO?  It sounds exotic, and I am curious.

Melusine: Many thanks, and ELOO is extra light olive oil. Not domestic but not exotic either. Wink

Hair: Roots were disgusting this morning, especially after working out, and I didn't get in the shower until after 11:00, so the routine was a mandatory W-CWC. Used Suave waterfall mist light conditioner, Pantene Volume shampoo and a regular conditioner blend. Leave-ins were Kenra Daily Provision spray and ELOO. Style was a crazy twisted updo that I've since taken down.

Etc.: Becoming gradually disenchanted with my mineral foundation. It just doesn't seem to be working as well lately. Might have to switch back to the liquid stuff. Tongue Perhaps an even mix of liquid foundation and sunblock. I just bought 2 new sunblocks, both oil-free and SPF 100+.

Still fretting over dental issues. My other top wisdom tooth is beginning to chip away and will probably soon fall apart like its partner on the other side. One of my bottom molars has a terrible cavity and the gums around it may be infected. To think that I was once the poster child for naturally perfect teeth. Cry
All of this could of course be remedied with a single month's full time income. Bloody infuriating.

Today was my mother's birthday, so the lot of us met my sister for dinner at the restaurant where she works. I gave both of my parents giftcards for Mimi's Cafe.
All in all, it was a good time but we were all painfully full afterwards. I was the only one who went power walking and exercised after we got home and my stomach is still all stretched out and bloated. Bleh. Tongue

Anyway, that's it for now. I'm dead tired & don't want to write anymore. Peace. ...

What a day! Right now, I'm prepping the washer & dryer for my 4th load of laundry. Shocked It's been a good amount of work on its own, not to mention trying to keep the process a relative secret from the 'rents (it's better if they aren't around while I'm doing laundry). But all in all, I've gotten a lot done and with no drama. Smiley

Decided to celebrate by ordering new trousers online, then going out to indulge my sweet tooth. Anyone tried those Quaker True Delights granola bars yet? They're awesome! Cheesy
Also picked up a dark chocolate raspberry Chocolixir from Godiva, then hung out at the coast for awhile after sunset.

While I was out, I hit the 2 story Target in the town where I was born...and they have much of the new Pantene in stock. My morbid curiosity was rewarded when I noticed that one of the shampoos for fine hair isn't as harsh as all of the the others. Looks like I don't have to give up Pantene after all! Cheesy Best news of the week.

Not much else to report hair wise. CWC today. Didn't have time for leave-ins right away so I just slicked a little ELOO on the ends after my hair was dry, then put it up in a bun.

Day 2 of consistent TRESemmé use and I'm already longing for Pantene.  It's apparent now that the TRES conditioner is best used as a light conditioner. But the S&C, when used together, are indeed drying. Even in CWC's, as I learned this morning. *sigh*

Darn you, Pantene! Why do companies have to go and wreck a good thing? If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Drear: Indeed, I've used TRESemmé several times in the past, always with the same result. Really don't know why I bother. Isn't that the definition of insanity? Doing the same thing over and over, hoping for different results each time? Roll Eyes

Hair: Clarified yesterday. No leave-ins...well, unless you count the bit of Pantene treatment that didn't quite rinse out in places. Undecided My clarifying shampoo blend is winding down and when it runs out, I have no qualms whatsoever about using Herbal Essences Drama Clean. Pantene has indeed discontinued their Purity shampoo Angry so it's their loss, really. I rather like Drama Clean better anyway.

Roots are getting greasier as the weather gets warmer. Ugh, I hate the hot season and it always lasts the longest. Tongue It might be better to switch from a 2-in-1 to a regular shampoo so I don't end up looking like Swamp Thing halfway through the day.

Played around with the new Pantene at Target yesterday, coordinating different bottles with different bodywashes, etc. Purely for æsthetic purposes...just to see if I could make anything work. I'm not pleased with the changes but I'm sure I've mentioned that already. ...
Decided that the Color Preserve Volume S&C bottles were the most gothic looking of the bunch and that's pushing it. They're also a bit difficult to coordinate with other shower stuff. Oy. Curse you, Pantene! Angry

As it stands, I will probably continue to use some of the heavier Pantene conditioners as well as the treatments, though I could take or leave the rest. A hair product gypsy's what I've become. Roll Eyes The only allegiance I have is to myself.

Other Stuff: Yesterday I picked up my bass and played it for the first time in months. Egad, I was predictably rusty. Shocked Let's try not to make these prolonged absences a habit, mmmkay?

The family might be going to Disneyland later today so I'll have some time to raid the groceries they bought yesterday myself. Roll Eyes

Anyroad, I'm off to block out the world with great music and burn some calories.

Trisha: Fine Hair Solutions: Fragile to Strong. The only one that doesn't use sodium lauryl sulfate as its base detergent. That said, I haven't tried it, so it could be awful. Roll Eyes

Hair: CWC's for the last 2 days and a WCC today. Leave-ins have been Kenra Daily Provision spray and ELOO. Styles have been simple, from single braids to buns to nothing. I'll usually put my hair up in the dreaded loop ponytail when I work out in the morning, simply because I haven't time to fuss with tangles or braids or fishing bobby pins out of the plastic bag in my hair drawer. When it comes down again, it's usually something of a disaster and I've grown tired of meticulously combing out every tangle...like trying to chip away a boulder with a needle. This morning, I found more success with a brush.

Speaking of which, there's an inexpensive, black, plastic brush at Walmart (heaven forbid) that I rather like and am thinking of eventually getting. I've already checked it for seams, of course, and it's not bad. Especially if I only use the thing for huge tasks that my combs and patience can't handle.

Anyway, my hair is attempting to air dry at the moment despite it being about 50° in the house. If it warms up outside soon, I'll just go out and drive around. Obviously I'd rather not resort to the blowfryer. Tongue

In other news, I finally broke down and bought the Pantene color/volume S&C yesterday. The shampoo won't go anywhere near my hair, but I do plan to try out the conditioner. I've also noticed that lighter conditioners have a cetyl alcohol base while the heavier, more moisturizing conditioners have a stearyl alcohol base. Not sure what cetearyl alcohol is exactly...a combination of the other two? Huh

Etc.: At night and in the morning, it's been ridiculously cold for May. I'll definitely be putting the 2nd blanket back on my bed today and cranking the electric one up a little higher.

My mouth is still in pain, though not as much as it has been. I still get shooting pains, inflamed gums, etc. but that's just how it's going to be until I can afford to have some dental work done. God only knows when that will be. So long as I can eat without screaming or crying, I'll consider myself lucky.

Still no luck with the job search. I wish I could just relax a bit and not even bother looking right now, as brother Moon Pie suggested, since there's nothing to look for anyway. All it's really doing is making me hopeless and depressed. Though I can't bear the thought of not making the effort and missing out on whatever small chance there may be. You never know. Maybe that's just naïveté. Embarrassed Maybe there's something like the Buddhist middle way, where I could still look but not drive myself crazy with it.

Anyway, my mother & sister are off to work the horses so I've gotta get some laundry done. Peace!

Hair: CWC today. Finally exhausted the Suave waterfall mist light conditioner and my regular blended conditioner. I'm replacing them with a blended light conditioner of some sort (I made it awhile ago so I don't remember exactly what's in it) as well as a heavy blend of Kenra Moisturizing and Herbal Essences Hello Hydration conditioners - both of which smell like coconut.

As far as bottles go, I've decided to stick with the plain, transluscent Suave containers with the labels removed so I can see what exactly I'm blending and how much. Doesn't make me any less goth, just my shower friends. Roll Eyes The real artistry is what's inside them.

Anyway, still using Suave Kids Smoothers 2-in-1 orange mango outburst as a daily shampoo. I think it is indeed too heavy for my hair so I might see how it works as a bodywash. Roll Eyes It lathers beautifully, smells fantastic and doesn't seem to be drying like the cheap Suave shampoos are.

Leave-ins are as always: Kenra Daily Provision and ELOO. Style du jour is a flipped ponytail.

Music: Crappy jam last night. Crappier than usual. Roll Eyes Our drummer couldn't make it, so it was just the 4 of us, plus a guest musician that Lizard invited. A woman who used to play with my father's band years ago, which didn't end well. Oh Lordy, does she love to talk...and talk...and talk. The only time she didn't talk was when she was playing or singing. She had never heard any of our material, yet for some reason, the guys thought it would be a good idea to let her sub on drums so we had to follow her lead. Huh Genius!
Grateful Ed had to leave early, so we cut our break down to 5 minutes and sped through about 12 songs. It was a night of rushed tempos, endless talking and people out of place. Everything was off kilter, but we went with it.
While the guest musician borrowed Ed's guitar to do an old Merle Haggard tune, my dad backed her up on drums:

...

He must be a closet drummer, I think. He's always jumping behind the kit whenever John 3:16 is away.

Etc.: Not much going on at the moment. Sharing shoe shopping suggestions with a friend (say that 5 times fast) and doing a little laundry. Speaking of which, funny story...yesterday, I washed all of my exercise clothes and hung one of the bras that I typically wear while being active outside to dry. That was fine until a person from the utility company came over to check the meters and my sister led him to that side of the house...right where my bra was hanging. Embarrassed D'oh!
Thank goodness I wasn't around at the time and the guy had no idea that it belonged to me. And thank goodness it was at least a somewhat nice bra from Victoria's Secret instead of some tatty old thing. Not that I own anything tatty. Roll Eyes And people who go to other people's houses for a living see all kinds of crazy stuff, so in ways, it could've been worse. Nothing I can do about it now, so I might as well have a laugh, right? Stay classy, ladies. Grin

Speaking of class, I think I'll head to Walmart (shudder) and see if they have something I'm after. Ta-ra!

Hair: CWC with the new blends. I believe the light conditioner combination is mostly Suave green apple with waterfall mist. Shampoo blend is Suave Kids 2-in-1 orange mango outburst with a bit of TRESemmé anti-breakage...and I was right, it doubles as a great bodywash. Wink Regular conditioner is a blend of Kenra Moisturizing, HE Hello Hydration and just a touch of ELOO - one of the silkiest blends I've ever done.

Kenra Daily Provision is today's only leave-in thus far. I might slick a little ELOO on before styling and I might not. Depends on what style it will be and I won't decide that until my hair has finished drying.

Etc.: Decided to stop taking my most recent meds as they were causing too many unpleasant side effects. Weight gain being the most obvious, but perhaps not the most serious. I read some very disturbing reviews about it a few days ago and didn't even bother finishing the placebo pills. Just binned the whole mess. With any luck, I won't die before I can go back to my regular doctor for the real thing.

Gave myself a new, emerald green mani a few days ago and the ends are already chipping a bit...which isn't a huge deal. I'll just patch them and give them another clear coat. It has to last until next weekend.

The trousers that I ordered arrived yesterday. Woohoo! Yes, trousers. I prefer them over jeans. Far more flattering and they don't fade as quickly. And with the extra weight from my meds, my jeans no longer fit anyway. Angry

So I'll be in detox mode for awhile. I've stopped working out because it does sod-all while this crap is still in my system.

Sounds like the mail is here so I'm off to see if my sodding UI check finally arrived.

Hair: Ahhh, clarified. Smiley In another week or so, my weird clarifying shampoo blend will be gone, so I intend to pick up some HE Drama Clean soon...and that ain't all. I plan to try out the Tousle Me Softly S&C as well, just to see what it does. I may also invest in an HE spray gel to replace the old Pantene hairspray in my closet. Roll Eyes

After washing and ACV rinsing, I left Pantene's Deep Fortifying Treatment in the length of my hair until the end of my shower. The only leave-in I've used is Kenra Daily Provision and I'm waiting for my hair to dry.

Etc.: UI check arrived (yay!) so I'll be able to do something tomorrow...hopefully.

Tonight I plan to wash my car. As for the rest of today, it's all up in the soddin' SoCal air. No agenda.

Hair: CWC for Monday with all the usual blends. Tuesday may be my last day with the Suave Kids Smoothers 2-in-1 since I've used it up mostly as a bodywash. Roll Eyes Used up a significant amount of my TRESemmé shampoo when I washed my car on Sunday. I'm in elimination mode right now. Anything to get rid of products I'm not in love with.

Leave-ins for Monday were Kenra Daily Provision spray and ELOO. Style was a single braid which I took down before bed. Goodness, was my hair soft! Giving up Pantene hasn't hurt me any, though I don't suppose I'll give it up completely. At least not the conditioners.

Etc.: Still no luck with the job search. It's never been this tough before. Ever. Angry
But I've created a professional e-mail account that will be used strictly for business contacts and I'll see if I can create a new résumé on my parents' computer tomorrow since the one on my laptop is locked. Angry
Guess I'm updating and refreshing a few different areas of life, eh?

Predictably, my wonderfully efficient and appreciative bank hasn't processed the deposit that I made on Saturday, so I have no access to my own money until they get around to it. Angry I'd wanted to get out and do something today, especially with the weather so nice, but they put a lovely stop to that. Always nice to see big companies putting their customers first (in the "screw you" department). So thank you, Chase, for ruining my life again. Darn right I'm calling them out by name. I'll save a coldly victorious little grin for the day they lose all of their customers and go out of business.

Ahem. But the weather, yes...was lovely. Pale gray and heavily clouded until just before sunset, and uncommonly cool for this time of year. The perfect sort of day to get out and run around...but I didn't. Sad

Oh well. Moving on. One day at a time.

What a frustrating job situation.  I hope your new tactic pays off soon.  I don't know how it works in the U.S. but here the banks process things on the first week day after a weekend so something like that wouldn't show up on my account until Tuesday, at best...*sigh!*

Dad said *you* still have snow in the mountains in CA (don't recall exactly where) and that in the NorCal valley where he lives it was cooler than usual with rain.  Dad lovingly called it Danish weather.

Drear: Thanx.

In the US, banks can legally hold onto checks for up to 2 weeks before clearing them. Most of them don't take that long, but some of them do.

And there's no snow in any of the mountains around here. Most of the county has temps in the 70's.

Hair: 2nd WTC of the week, much needed after yesterday's twisted updo with at least 2 applications of spray gel. I took my hair down before bed last night and the length was still all twisted when I woke up this morning. Trying to comb it all out before showering would've been a lost cause, so I just ran my fingers through it.

Leave-ins today should be Kenra Daily Provision and ELOO. Strangely, I find myself longing for serum again. Undecided Style...who knows? If I stay indoors all day, I might just leave it down.

Etc.: What a week! My mother has been in NY since Wednesday and I've spent the last few days with my father's family who had just finished a 2 week trip on Route 66. Yesterday the lot of us (my grandfather, his gf, my great aunt & uncle, my sister and myself) spent the afternoon at Seaport Village, which was great. I hadn't been in the bookstore/coffee shop there since my 16th birthday. My sister & I both got books there. This was mine: Wink

...

After my father and my sisters bf got home, we all went to Mimi's for dinner and said goodbye to my WA family as they were all flying home the next morning. They should be there by now.

For today, I'm just taking it easy. Finishing up some laundry and starting on a new manicure. It's also time for me to rinse my hair treatment and face masque...ciao!

Sakina: Yep, I'm liking it too, even if it's basically just a Reader's Digest version of her regular columns. It's put together well.

Hair: CWC. Leave-ins are Kenra Daily Provision and double the usual amount of ELOO. Style is a simple bun held in place with bobby pins.

Been using Herbal Essences Tousle Me Softly S&C for a few days now and it seems to work alright. No, it doesn't make my hair a sexy mess of careless waves - nor did I expect it to. And it didn't transform me into an instant rock star...I already was one, hunnay. Cool Grin
But it cleans well, conditions decently and it smells ok. No rashes yet. I try to remember to put lotion on my neck every day as a preventative measure. If the usual chemical burn prevails, I'll just go back to using Suave Kids and what's left of my Pantene.

Etc.: Nails now have 2 coats of Cover Girl's midnight magic and a topcoat with light silver glitter. They could do with an extra topcoat.

For some reason, my cleaning gloves got tossed out today and it was only when I went to get new ones that I realized I didn't have my debit card. Shocked Apparently, the cashier at the bookstore failed to give it back to me while I was there and I failed to notice. So I called my (soddin' crappy) bank and had them cancel it (after fighting through their automated system and having to talk to the same representative that I always seem to get...who makes a deliberate habit of repeatedly mispronouncing my name after I've already said it several times). Now I must wait 2 weeks for a new one. Angry

Tonight my mother gets back from NY and I have to pick her up at her sister's house. I've enjoyed the quiet in her absence. Roll Eyes

Trisha: Yes, the card was canceled immediately and they're sending me a new one. Just another inconvenience. Undecided Story of my life.

Hair: Left TRESemmé anti-breakage conditioner in overnight last night, then got up this morning and clarified. There's probably enough of my clarifying shampoo blend to last one more week. Then I'll start using Herbal Essences Drama Clean - I already bought a 24 oz. bottle of it.

The only leave-in was a spray conditioner, which is typical for clarifying days. Today it was Kenra Daily Provision. Style was a single braid.

Even with the lack of an end treatment, my hair still managed to draw some attention after dinner. I had on a satin shirt which my aunt reached out to touch. That led to at least 3 people petting me at once...then my aunt started running her hand down my braid and other relatives followed suit. I was a one person petting zoo. Grin Niiiice goth, sooooft goth, pet the goth...

My aunt said something like, "Your hair is so soft, I could sleep with it." Huh Interesting. Her daughter then turned to me and quipped, "Do you sleep with your hair? Because I usually take mine off..." Grin

Ahh, ma famille. Roll Eyes

Etc.: As mentioned above, my immediate family (and my sister's bf) met my Pt. Loma relatives for dinner so my mother and aunt could regale us all with stories from their NY trip. As it turns out, one of my cousins is leaving for London in 6 days on a whim. Sooooo jealous!

Ugh, my internet connection is acting up yet again so that's all for now. Peace.

Hair: CWC today: light conditioner blend, Herbal Essences Tousle Me Softly S&C. Leave-ins were Kenra Daily Provision and ELOO. Definitely sensing the allure of serum again. Wouldn't it be lovely to go oil-free?

Still no rashes from the HE, but it seems like it may be drying my hair out a bit. Sad It definitely doesn't moisturize the way Pantene did.

Tossed out the first headband that I decorated. Epic fail. In time, I'll make something better. Right now, I'm really into the jeweled and studded headbands that have been so in fashion lately. It's the 80's kid in me. Roll Eyes I think it's cool so long as you rock it classy and not trashy. There's a fine line.

Music: No word yet from the boys about a jam this week. They'd better not try and schedule something last minute for Thursday night as I'm supposed to get together with a friend that day.

Other Stuff: Sensing an impending product overhaul. Not only is Herbal Essences drying out my hair, but the bodywash I've been using from Bath & Bodyworks is doing the same to my skin, only much worse and much faster. Shocked Shouldn't something that costs $1.05 per ounce live up to its luxe image? Or at the very least not turn one's skin into sourdough crust? Surely they can afford better than harsh lauryl sulfates. Guess I won't be patronizing Bath & Body Works as much anymore. If at all. Tongue
Crappier still is that I still have a few bottles of the stuff left.

Anywho, nothing else going on right now, really. If there were any new art projects to tackle or glimmers of hope from the job search, I'd have mentioned them.
Stagnant, stationary and biding my time. In limbo, on hold, lying in wait for something, anything...nothing. My life in a nutshell. Beyond sick of it but powerless to change it. At least there's still good music.

It's exactly the same
You said
It's always the same
But I'll make it change
Into something the same
I promise

Thanx for the sympathy, gals. I mixed up a new bodywash awhile ago made from things just lying around the house. Different bodywashes, lotions, conditioners, etc. Hopefully it'll help with the dry skin situation.

As for the hair, I switched out S&C's and used Suave Kids 2-in-1 as a shampoo with a Kenra/Herbal Essences conditioner blend. Seemed to help - especially the former. Who knew Suave could be cool? Light conditioner stayed the same.

Combined my Kenra Daily Provision with the last of my Pantene Detangling spray conditioner and that was today's only leave-in. I didn't feel like messing with oil for some reason.
The last inch or so of the ends is really dry. Need a trim, but I'm going to wait another month.

No news in the job search arena except that it's been almost 8 months since I was laid off. *sigh* Sad It's never been this bad before. Nor this dire. It makes total sense that it would be impossible to find a job when I need one more urgently than ever. And the result would be exactly the same whether I looked or not.

Anywho, so I guess Sex And The City 2 comes out tomorrow. Will my sister whisk me away tonight for a midnight screening? Hehe. Guess we'll see. Roll Eyes

Curlgirl: Bleak. That's a good word for it. But giving up is not an option!

Hair: Another CWC today. Guess I'll just finish out the week that way. Light conditioner is a blend of Suave Naturals...mostly Tropical Coconut. Shampoo is Suave Kids 2-in-1 Cherry Jams, which smells like Hi-C fruit punch and a splash of grenadine. Conditioner is a blend of Kenra Moisturizing, Herbal Essences Hello Hydration and Pantene Color Preserve Volume.

Leave-ins were Kenra/Pantene spray conditioner blend & ELOO. Style du jour is a bun.

Etc.: Been randomly noticing things lately that came out of 1980 and are now 30 years old like me:
  • AC/DC's album Back In Black
  • Echo & The Bunnymen's debut album, Crocodiles
  • Iron Maiden's self-titled debut album
  • Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back
  • Pac-Man
  • Express (the store)

In Frankie's words, it was a very good year. Cool Well, right up until John Lennon died. Undecided I must say, it will be extra sad acknowledging 30 years since his passing and 1 year since Michael Jackson's. I really wish I had the skills to make 2 wildly elaborate graphic art collages. Perhaps a mural on 2 different walls of the house. One for John with PEACE written above and the other for Michael, with LOVE. God rest ye, gentlemen.

This month also marked 30 years since the passing of Ian Curtis. So before I wander off to get ready for bed, I'll leave y'all with one of my favourite Joy Division songs.

Curlgirl: You're quite welcome...and I'm willing to bet that you've heard 3/4 of Joy Division on the radio many times without even knowing it. Wink
You see, after singer Ian Curtis' suicide in 1980, the remaining 3 members continued on under the name New Order and gradually adopted a more synthy, electronic sound which made them an 80's staple:

That should ring a few bells. Now who wants to dance? ...

Hair: Waited until noon to take a shower again, so I did a W-CWC. All of the usual blended products + Herbal Essences Tousle Me Softly shampoo.

Leave-ins were spray conditioner blend & ELOO. I even misted the air with a little body spray and let it land in my hair after it dried. So now it's super clean, super silky and smells super awesome. Style is a single braid.

Etc.: Gah, another round of dying celebrities. Sad Quite the epidemic. Like Exodus.

What else is going on...? Today I've been washing, ironing and hanging up the new tops that I got yesterday to replace some other items in my closet. After all, how many plain black t-shirts does a gal need anyway?
I've also been tossing out things that no longer fit or that I'll probably never wear again (dust on the hangers is a good indication) which frees up a little closet space. It's a shame to see some of it go but I know I'll find excellent replacements eventually.

After I'm done with the wardrobe update, I might go to B&N. They have some pretty epic deals going on.
Oh yes, and my new debit card arrived today so everything is good to go. 'Til next time, loves. Kiss

Curlgirl: Anytime. Smiley

Hair: Clarified and treated yesterday. CWC today with blended light conditioner + HE Tousle Me Softly S&C. Leave-ins are the spray conditioner blend + ELOO. Style is a bun.

Etc.: The cavity in one of my molars is getting bigger and uglier and now it's begun to really hurt. Need to see my dentist ASAP...I don't trust the low income clinics (or any other dentist but mine) and they're far away.

Naturally, the world is totally devoid of jobs at the moment, so it's time to start saving what little of my unemployment that I can...if any.

My only distractions from the aforementioned torments are boogieing or singing along to some of my fave tunes.
Sigh.

One good thing is today's new manicure. Gunmetal gray...cool & modern, but subtle.

So...it's June. Yay hooray.

Measured in at 29" today. Just an inch away from my decade-long goal of returning to waist length. It won't happen before the July trim...perhaps before the year is over.

The ends are starting to look worn. Not tatty or uneven or anything, just drier and thinner than the rest of it. You can see through them, especially if I oil them. But if I don't oil them, they're dry as a bone. Thus begins the daily ritual of over-oiling the ends and pinning the whole mess up in a bun. At least until July.

Used a brush to detangle the length before exercising this morning. My comb just wasn't cutting it. Maybe that's another necessary ritual for June - detangling with a brush every morning instead of a comb.
Anyway, hair stayed in a ponytail while I was exercising, then got another pre-shower detangle with my morning comb. Wash routine was a CWC with all the usual blends, and I must say that I'll probably start using Suave Professionals shampoos in the future instead of the Suave Kids 2-in-1's. The latter just leaves too much of a film on my hair and is slow to lather. Plus, I've already used my mother's Suave Pro rosemary mint shampoo once before and actually liked it.

In any case, leave-ins today are the same as ever and style is a regular bun.

Alright, I'm off to check more job listings. ...

Hair: CWC for the past few days. Leave-ins are spray conditioner blend & ELOO. Styles vary - yesterday it was a twisted updo, today it was a single braid. Right now it's doing naught but hanging there.

Etc.: Friend T was in town yesterday and we spent the afternoon hanging out in Seaport Village. We went to the bookstore/coffee shop (that stole my last debit card) to get his parking validated and while I was waiting at the counter for my Mexican hot cocoa, a little old lady complimented the shirt I was wearing and told me I was "stunning." Shocked I've been called a lot of things, but that's never been one of them. Caught me completely off guard but totally made my day. Little old ladies rule. Wink

After that, T & I went to explore the beautiful (and haunted) Hotel Del. It had been years since I'd been there and T had never seen it.
Then after a quick stop at Starbucks, it was back to my parents' house to visit the family and watch Jimmy Kimmel. T made it home just after 4 AM. Shocked

Today I went with my father and his former lead guitar player to a guitar clinic where John Jorgenson and Brad Davis were playing. It was epic...and I even saw a former co-worker from ages ago there. We recognized and acknowledged each other but didn't have time to say hello.

As of right now, I'm waiting for my last load of laundry to finish drying before I can rest these weary old bones. Well, weary old muscles anyway. Totally killed both of my calves a few days ago while exercising and can barely walk. Undecided We'll see how they do tomorrow. Getting tired of having petrified legs.

I'm catching up.  I need to dust of the two JD CD's I have.  I bought them before online music shops so I had to order them to a local music shop and wait for three weeks. I don't know why I never got in to New Order.

Your loss, hunnay. Wink

Hair: Clarified yesterday. No treatments; just used my regular ol' conditioner blend. The one and only leave-in was the spray conditioner blend made of Kenra Daily Provision and Pantene Detangling. Style was a single braid.

Today it will be a CWC with the usual conditioners and Kenra Moisturizing shampoo. Weekly routine is the same - it's the products that vary. Depending on my hair's needs that day, I'll usually go to the closet and pick out whichever products will work from the stash. It will take quite awhile to use them all up...perhaps until the end of the year.
What I've lost in allegiance to a particular brand I've gained in variety, which is an overall win.

Etc.: Ugh, sounds like my sister is bathing her dog. Thank goodness I didn't clean the tub out yet. Well, not all of it at least. Angry I did scrub the edge, the window sill and one wall of the shower that was blasted top to bottom with booger boy's handiwork. Or nose work as the case maybe. Tongue

It will all be over soon. My sis and Señor Snot Rocket have been looking at houses on a near-daily basis. Apparently the boy gets some kind of housing discount through his work. Must be nice. Although I've seen how their apartment looked on several occasions - I can only imagine how they would keep a house. Shocked

The legs are better today. I can almost walk normally. By the end of the week they should be fine.

Great, now my internet connection is failing. It does that a lot lately. Isn't technology wonderful? If it actually lets me post this, I may as well leave y'all with a quiz or something at least.

The bathroom is empty now. Time to assess the damage. ... Sigh.
It will all be over soon.

Hair: Same routine as yesterday. Same products. Style is a bun with 2 bobby pins. Woohoo.
Yes, it's a rather minimal effort but I didn't plan on going out today or doing anything special. My game plan for this summer is to stay in and read as much as possible. Well, and dork around with my bass. None of that requires complicated routines or crazy styles.

Etc.: Speaking of reading, I finished Jillian Venters' Gothic Charm School book yesterday and am now on the final chapter of Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang by Chelsea Handler - recommended by my sister. It's an insanely easy read. Now I realize I've read 2 books in a row that were actually published this century. Shocked

Well, my sister and her bf are apparently in the final stages of securing a place. I'm not sure when they'll begin moving but it sounds like it may happen rather soon. *taps fingertips together* Eeeeeexcellent.

Now I'm off in search of sustenance. Ta-ra!

Drear: Only the last one I mentioned was particularly easy reading and I wouldn't recommend it for anyone who lives with young children.

Trisha: Yep, they (and their mess) should be moved out by the end of July. Unless something goes terribly wrong.

Hair: WCC today - finished my regular conditioner blend and will be using Herbal Essences Tousle Me Softly conditioner henceforth. Unless something goes terribly wrong. Roll Eyes

Leave-ins were spray conditioner blend & ELOO. Style is a bun. Lately I've been slicking back hairline strays with aloe gel. The hold is incredible. Smiley

Etc.: Went out today and got a few books (one of which is a copy of Dracula with illustrations by Edward Gorey - score!), a new CD and sunblock lotion to replace the spray on crap that I currently have. Speaking of the spray on crap, did I mention that it managed to eat through the finish on my bass? Shocked Never play guitar while wearing sunblock.

Thankfully I haven't needed any for the last few days. The weather has been decidedly non-SoCalian. While I was roaming around an area in the mountains, enjoying the "June gloom," I looked at all of the rocks, trees and waterfalls and was reminded of some of my favourite parts of NoCal. Sakina & Curlgirl: Merci, mes chères. Wink

Hair: Ok. Yesterday I broke down and got my own bottle of Suave Professionals rosemary mint shampoo. Just to see if I'd like it over time. I know it has oil in it and my scalp could end up breaking out, but it's new and I had to try it.
So I did. This morning I did a CWC with an ACV rinse. Conditioner was Pantene Color Preserve Volume, which I only have a little of, so I'll probably spend the next few days using it up. I also used up the last of my light conditioner blend, so I'll be using the remains of my TRESemmé anti-breakage.

Leave-ins were the spray conditioner blend and heavy ELOO. Style is a bun.

Etc.: Has anyone not seen Lady Gaga's new vid for Alejandro? Wow. Something about Gaga always makes me want to wear lots of makeup. Grin

Speaking of music, Boudin played a Roy Orbison song over their PA while I was there earlier this eve. Cheesy Impressed.

Anyway, since some inconsiderate boob stole my parking spot and spoiled my plans to wash my car, I think I'll take off the 2-week-old pewter polish that's still clinging to my nails and then clean up for bed. Maybe get some laundry going.

My family has gone to Disneyland for the night so I have the house to myself. Ciao!

Ugh, it's early. Tongue

Yesterday was the craziest day I've had in a long while. All I wanted was a new manicure...and just when I'd all but succeeded, chaos.

There I was, touching up the edges of my nails with acetone for a perfect outline when my sister's bf appeared and asked if he could get into the bathroom (which is where I was). I said sure, figuring that he'd only be in there for a few seconds and I could get right back to what I was doing, so I left everything as it was - polish remover, Q-tips, etc.

After quite a long while, my sister decided that she needed in there also, since she had to get ready for work, so I waited and waited. That was when I heard the crash.

Apparently in a moment of clumsiness, my sis had knocked the bottle of acetone over, spilling almost all of its contents onto the floor. She immediately grabbed the rugs and rinsed them in the bathtub and grabbed a towel for the floor...but the damage there was already done. The acetone had bleached and dissolved the vinyl facing on 2 of the tiles and every sweep of the towel made it worse. My sis panicked, knowing our parents would skin her alive if they found out.
Then I remembered that my father still had a few tiles leftover somewhere, and since they were the peel & stick variety, I could pull the damaged ones up and replace them. I found the leftover tiles in my father's shed out back...so after my sis left for work, I retrieved a few while my father was busy cleaning the garage and my mother was out running errands.

Grabbing a steak knife from the kitchen, I then locked myself in the bathroom for about an hour and went to work on the tiles which was no easy task! After much sweat and pretty much destroying the steak knife, my hair towel and a few freshly-manicured nails, the new tiles were in place.

That and I'd thrown the rugs and towel in the wash, along with a few other things, so once they were done, our bathroom was complete again. My parents never found out what had happened. And they never will. Wink

My sister hugged me when she came home and saw my handiwork and even gave me money to go out and get frozen yogurt. Grin

My nails also survived the fiasco with some repair work. They've been shellacked enough by now to withstand a 3rd world war and possibly a natural disaster.

Of course, because chaos is a self-indulgent thing and you can never have too much craziness at once, one of our neighbours went away in an ambulance last night for reasons unknown...and we also had 2 earthquakes: a 5.9 and a 5.7, both in the Mexicali area. Also, 2 people called yesterday wanting to arrange interviews with me. When it rains, it pours, as they say.

So I have a live interview and a phone interview to look forward to today...we'll see what else fate decides to throw at me. Good thing I thrive in chaos. Roll Eyes

Anyway, as for the hair, at least there's nothing crazy to report there. Same old routine and I'm even liking the new Suave Pro shampoo. Smiley

This morning I should be clarifying but since I have an interview, I'm just going to do the usual CWC, etc. so styling will be easier. I'll likely do the funky, twisted updo...or something.

For now however, I'm going to take my time, have breakfast, go through my morning routine and put myself together properly. By this afternoon, I'll be ready to interview with corp goth style. Wish me luck!
